Stayed for two nights on half board basis for my wife's birthday at this charming hotel. Located just minutes from the old town and within easy walking of all the sights.

The hotel was quite old with many original features, however the rooms were tastefully decorated and had all the amenities you needed including very comfortable beds.

The restaurant was the gem of the property, large extensive buffet breakfast and for the little extra cost the evening meals were amazing. Large plates of freshly cooked meals, all wonderfully presented by attentive waiters. reasonably price good wine was also available.

All in all and excellent choice in Krakow.

We stayed here for three nights, and really enjoyed our stay. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, it is only a couple of minutes stroll from the historic centre. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The room was spacious and clean, and very quiet. I think we were lucky here as our room was at the back of the hotel, so quiet, other guests at the front of the hotel, had more of a problem with noise. So if you do stay here then I would suggest you check out the location of your room.
The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of cold meats/sausage, and local cheeses.
One quibble was as is so often the case the coffee at breakfast was terrible. The only other minor issues were there was a great shower, but no bath, and there was only one pillow on the bed, and I needed two, but neither issue spoilt our stay. If we are ever back in Kraków, we would certainly stay here again.

Just about to leave this stunning city and a lovely hotel, rooms are clean with comfortable beds, staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast are a mixture of hot and cold buffet style always fresh and well stocked up. Would recommend this hotel as it is very central for touring the city. We visited Schindlers factory and Auschwitz via public transport and did tours ourselves much better than an organised tour as they seem to be rushed through areas but in your own you can take in more. Will definitely visit again

We have stayed at the Hotel Polonia several times now. Rooms are good size and clean. The only issue is the windows that are not sound proof and let the noisy traffic in. Some rooms have better curtains than other, so would advise to pack earplugs and eye mask. The restaurant makes it all better ;-)
The restaurant staff is extremely friendly, helpful and go beyond and above. Food is delicious. Breakfasts are splendid. We were spoilt for choice. The restaurant is available to any to walk in. I highly recommend visiting.

If you want to go back in time this is the place to stay. It looks like some kind of a mansion that you could see in "keeping up appearances" tv show. The room is spacious with only one English TV channel, the kettle doesn't switch off when it boils . The bed is comfortable, there is a very good and strong shower. There is no fridge in the room, the breakfast room is very small and the staff there are very slow to replace items. Good selection for breakfast however you will not find bacon, beans. 3 min from train stn and shopping mall. 5 minutes from the main attraction-the square. They gave me quiet room as requested while booking also I was allowed to check-in earlier.

We stayed 1 night in March. The building is quite grand and from what I understand over 100 years old. This makes me give the review an extra star as there must be many issues with a building such as this. The twin room we had was big and quiet however we did hear building work in the morning but once that is finished I can’t imagine guests having problems with noise. The lift broke down while we were there - not a huge problem for us but the stairs would pose problems for anyone with mobility issues. Two of the lights on the hotel sign also need replacement. We didn’t have breakfast or dinner at the hotel. The staff were efficient.

The hotel is in a great location, the train station and huge shopping mall to one side and the old town through the park on the other side.
Hotel old fashioned but lovely. Room was big and bed very comfy. Breakfast very busy but food was ok. Was well worth the money.
Krakow is absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit
Did the Auschwitz and Salt Mines tours which were great. We did them on separate days and I would definitely recommend this as too much in one day
The one negative about Krakow is the toilets. All public toilets are chargeable so get your small change ready and most places including bars have one toilet shared between men and women
We got a taxi from the airport which cost just over £20 (driver took cash or card)
On way home we got the train about £3 each
Great holiday with lots to see

Had lunch here whilst visiting krakow, waiters friendly & professional, and they have a good choice of things on the menu. they also have a daily set lunch menu which looked like very good value for money. Food was served in a reasonable time and was very busy with locals and also tourists. The beef cheeks were absolutely amazing and my partner said his potato pancakes were delicious too. Would definitely return!

Hotel was pretty nice. The room was clean and pretty spacious, with a nice en suite. The furniture was solid and fit the feel of the hotel. The high ceiling also gave the room a luxurious vibe. It had a nice view of the park (which is just north of the main square). It’s also less than a minute walk away from the train station which is perfect as I arrived quite late at night. There was also lots of fun historic touches in the hallway.

However, I have to say, the tea service in the room was appalling. The kettle did not reach the plug sockets at all. I had to either hold the bottom of the kettle, or balance it on a glass cup, every time I boiled the kettle. It was really unsafe. Also there was no milk, only powdered coffee creamer which was bizarre in my tea. But I suppose it got the job done.

The proximity to the train station does mean that it’s about a 5 minute walk to the main square, and about 10-15 minutes to Wawel castle. So not the closest to the Main Square, but not far away. I also find the park to be very pretty and not at all a hardship to pass through on the way. It also allows you to see the gates and Barbican, which many people miss. There’s also a pretty good shopping centre next to the train station, which I find the mini supermarket in there to be a good price for snacks (compared to more touristy corner shops).

The biggest draw back in my opinion is the tram stop, right next to the hotel. The trams in krakow are really good, they start early and run late. This does however mean that you hear the trams a lot. While it didn’t personally wake me up, a lighter sleeper would definitely be disturbed. On the plus side, it’s convenient if you want to get the tram to the Jewish quarter rather than walking.

Overall, it was a perfectly fine hotel for what I needed and I knew about the drawbacks when I booked. But definitely worth mentioning for anyone who isn’t familiar with Krakow. I think if you’re travelling with kids then this is probably not the hotel for you. But if you’re solo / in a small group, and you really want to experience krakow outside of the tourist hive, then it’s a good shout.

Lovely hotel, lovely stay, would advise possibly packing some earplugs, and a sleep mask if you’re sound/light sensitive (I barely slept) as right near the tram line and they run all night! Not the hotel’s fault, the building is old the windows are period, and although doubled up, not airtight double glazing, so can be quite noisy with traffic.

Bed was comfy, shower was amazing..!

Staff were lovely, and the room was clean, beautiful floor, had a great stay, thank you ☺️

There is a shopping center opposite to the hotel the train station is under the shopping center. But it is quite a distance from Auschwitz train station to the camp site, I think it is preferable to go with a tour group. The hotel can make the arrangement or you can go to the tour booking center located on the right side of the park which is opposite to the right hand side of the hotel.

does this hotel have parking
Answer from YorkshireKaroo

There is a small 'secure' car park just around the corner towards the main station and shopping precint, but i think it is independent of the hotel. The Polonia front desk speak English so you could contact them directly. The hotel is in a good location, breakfasts are good (they do replenish the platters - just ask if required) but the rooms although clean, could do with a face lift. Ed

I'm just wondering about a price list for the bar?
Answer from patsyManchester
Kearsley, United Kingdom72 contributions87 helpful votes
The bar is in the dining room, the drinks are very reasonable, the wine was good, there was draft beer, the flavoured vodka was cheap and really good, my husband can vouch for that. there are bars all around the hotel, some are quite dear and some are really cheap. just through the park opposite and on the way to the square there are plenty of bars and eating places. Obviously it's dearer to eat and drink on the square.
