Detailed Reviews
A small comfortable Guest House with a difference. Located off the Plac Szczepanski, in an older building block, the rooms are located ocross several floors (no lifts, only stairs) and are large and spacious. There are the usual coffee and tea making facilities along with WC and television in each room. The location is within th old city walls and it was ideal for accessing the Christmas market in the main square (5 minute walk away). Reception is set to the rear of the ground floor, to the left, and is manned most of the time. The staff were all really helpful and can arrange taxi transfers or day trip excursions on your behalf. Although check out was at 11:00 we were able to leave our baggage in a secure location at reception until we left in the afternoon. A great budget place to stay.

My 2nd stay here, and just as good as the first. A little hard to find behind a door off Plac Szczepanski, you then walk about 50 yards, through another door, into the courtyard. Once inside, it is a little dark but the staff are very friendly, and the rooms, from what I have seen are clean and comfortable. My room, number 5 had a comfortable bed, hangers for clothes, table, TV (which did not appear to work but no problem, as I was not in Krakow to watch TV) and a clean bathroom. Rooms are not cleaned daily, so you need to ask at reception, if you want your room to be cleaned. Given it's location, staff and overall cleanliness of the place, this represents great value for money.

I stayed in the globtroter guest house for 3 nights , when I went to find it took a bit of searching as only a small sign on the wall , once get through first door down a passage into a secret garden then to reception , staff were great good English and very helpful .
The rooms are big enough but the furniture reminded me of the 1970s maybe it’s just a theme guest house the bed wasn’t the best and the pillow was non existent had to ask for a second one and use the blanket to make a pillow .
The room was quiet considering how close it was to the street but the walls were paper thin could hear people talking clearly in next room and walking about above .
The bathroom was ok but never really got hot water in shower just warm .
But for the price per night and location 2 mins walk to main square very good location so you have to take the rough with the smooth .
Would probably stay again if wanted central base and good price .
I give it a 4 purely for location !

Having visited Krakow a couple of years ago and stayed in a hotel that was a good 30 minutes walk to the square, we took my son's advice and chose the Globetrotter for our second visit to this beautiful city. He had stayed here last year and was returning with myself and his sister for a 5 night stay. First off, I must emphasise that this is a budget guesthouse. If you like room service, breakfast, onsite gym etc, this is not the place for you. Some say it's dated, I'd say traditional, and a little gloomy, due to the amount of dark wood, but it is clean and warm and, most importantly, located 2 minutes walk from the square. We found the beds comfortable, but the pillows were way too flat, even after we'd asked for extra and these definitely need upgrading. Our room was large with enough storage for a short stay and the bathroom was also a good size with a decent shower. Tea and coffee are provided and there is a communal fridge on one of the landings. We didn't use this as it was cold enough to keep milk and juice outside on the balcony.
It's worth noting that there are no lifts and the stairs are quite dimly lit, so anyone with mobility issues might find this a problem.
Although, there's no food available at the Globetrotter, there are dozens of places to eat, literally on the doorstep. Some open very early for breakfast and most serve food until late evening and then stay often for drinks until the early hours. The food is excellent and cheap pretty much everywhere, but expect to pay a bit more if eating on the square.
All in all, I would recommend the Globetrotter to anyone on a strict budget, but who still values cleanliness and comfort and I'd definitely stay here again.

Response from GlobtroterStaff, Manager at Globtroter Guest House
Responded 16 Jan 2020
Dear Annie, Thank you very much for you review and positive feedback. We could not be described better :) We are a budget place as for the Old Town of Krakow but for many with perfect location but not offering and even not pretending to be a luxury accommodation since simply we are not such a place. All the best for you and hope to see you again! Marek

We stayed at this hotel it had lovely character as it was old. The staff were very friendly and very informative and gave us a map of Krakow and helped us find where the place would be for our pick up on a tour we booked.
We did ask for more pillows, but never received.
As it is an old building you can hear everything which is understandable and you are asked to keep noise to minimum we were woken by the room next doors alarm clock at early hours, as we thought the phone was in our room!
Lots of character and a communal fridge to use.
There could have also been a curtain on the door as the glass panel at the top lets in a lot of light in the morning. There was also quite a few cob webs, but it did have high ceilings
The hotel is hard to find as it is not clearly sign written, so bare this in mind when trying to find it

This hostel very close to the old town square everything is within walking distance. Our room is clean however, ours was assigned on a very odd area - i think the residential part of the building. We were not at the main building at the hostel. Our room is at a corner location which is quiet except for occasional squeaky noises from the room next door. The rooms maybe outdated but the amenities are all well functioning (heater, tv, hot water) so for two nights it is acceptable for the price we paid.

Very helpful staff, any problems just ask. This quite location is excellent for the centre of Krakow which is on the doorstep. The TV is very limited for English channels and the internet can depend on your position in the room, but I was very pleased with the deal i got in this quiet coronavirus period.

Myself and my partner stayed here in November 2022.
When I booked I selected because it was close to Rynek Głowny and was the cheapest private room and bathroom. The pictures do it no justice - it is beautiful.
Check in was easy - the staff are polite and accommodating.
The room was clean and warm considering the temp hit minus 1°c at times - we slept without covers. The was that the room was on the 2nd floor and there were lots of stairs which was not ideal (considering both myself and my partner are old and overweight).
The location is spectacular. Literally seconds from Rynek Głowny, the Planty and tram stops.
The place was quiet even though it is located in a courtyard at the back of restaurants and bars.
The only criticism (and it’s not really a criticism) is that it is hard to find from the street. Due to Krakow planning laws it in the Stare Miasto signs cannot be flashy etc so keep an eye out for an unassuming notice board. If you pass the shop Żabka you have gone too far.
We will be back!! Thank you for a brilliant stay.

I just checked out of the Globtroter after 12 days. I would have stayed longer but they had no availability.
This huge old wood building is full of character. My room was very good with 12' ceilings. The Wi-Fi is particularly good and the bathroom spacious.
The building facade is undergoing a facelift and the adjacent neighbors are also implementing construction activities. For the time being there is a significant amount of construction noise and dust. This didn't bother me as the positive elements at Globtroter are fantastic.
Everyone at the front desk is helpful. Paulina and Julia speak English well. The main square is 90 seconds away and the square the hotel is located on is also pretty and offers many cafes.
The entrance door may be a little confusing to find. I suggest you ask Paulina or Julia to send you a photo. A few other reviews mention that you can sometimes hear noise from adjacent rooms. I found this to be the case but it didn't bother me.
When I return to Krakow the Globetroter will be my first choice.

It can be a little tricky to find the address first time, my tip is to reach it from the street swietego tomasza. The entry is basically on the right side of the street as it reaches the square plac szczepanski. I walked from the main train station (glowny), and it takes 10-15mins.
I had my own room in the front building, it was a private dorm, so was large and spacious. As a solo traveller I didn't need this size room but didn't mind. The room had thick walls and a high ceiling, strong old furniture, and an en-suite washroom. Telly and coffee making facilities were present although I never used them. Pillow was too feeble. The room was more quiet than expected, although I only stayed on 3 x weekday nights.
The inner courtyard of the guesthouse presents a nice setting as you'll see in the pictures, although there is practically no communal areas there. Not sure if this is due to covid19. The guest rooms along the floors which surround the yard have a nice vantage. As I was housed in the front building, I wondered whether it'd be a bonus to have a room within the courtyard.
Location is a strong point. In the immediate vicinity there's a conveience store 2 doors down open til 11pm and plenty of bars and restaurants (however the noise from them didn't seem to penetrate into the guesthouse during my stay). I recommend Polskie Smaki, a traditional polish restaurant closeby. They serve delcious hearty dishes at good prices. Also there's a taxi rank along the street, and the square has benches for relaxing. The square has an exhibition but it's completelty in Polish.
Oh, and the main square of Krakow is exceptionally close, only a 3mins walk.
Overall it was excellent value and a great location and facilities. Staff were nice and helpful. Would stay again when returning to krakow.

Hi
Take your hairdryer as they dont provide one in the room
I only bought transfer to the airport. It was about 20 Pln. It was convenient for us. We bought all attractions we visited from internet. I used the app "visit a city". The app is free and the prices seems good for us.
According to Google Maps, the international airport is about 14 km away. Our taxi ride took about 20 minutes.
Hi yes. Sorry just seen question. hairdryer in room. Milk bar Tomas just down street. But dozens of places within 2 minute walk. Enjoy
