Hotel Blaha Lujza, former home of the famous Hungarian singer, is just a short walk from Lake Balaton at Balatonfüred. The internal decor might be described as old-fashioned but it is very stylish and the restaurant and sitting areas have some elegant furniture; outside there is a lovely dining area surrounded by shrubs and trees and a newly paved car park area.

The town and general area is great for "chilling" by the lake or walking and there are also various boat trips possible from the pretty harbour. In the evening there are a number of good places to eat and drink.

My partner and I had a great few days here and highly recommend the hotel and town.

We stayed at the Blaha Lujza for one week and we absolutely loved it. It is a period hotel with loads of original fine features. The staff were extremely friendly and you could have drinks and good quality food at any time of the day. The breakfast room was cool and a very relaxing way to start the day. Although it does not have a pool the lake is a short walk away and for a small fee you can pay to use the facilities of the lakeside hotels. They have gorgeous grounds, loungers and lakeside cafe's within the large hotels. However these hotels tend to be newer high tower blocks and not my type of hotel to stay in. The Blaja Lujza is traditional, and gives luxury in rooms and fittings for an extremely reasonable price. One downside it was very hot in August and there is no air conditioning, but this did not spoil our stay. Did lots of wine tasting all around Balaton and I could highly recommend this type of holiday.

We had three nights in this hotel at a very hot time of year.

The hotel is lovely, and definitely has the most character of the hotels in Fured we looked at. Reception were polite and helpful (both in Hungarian and English), and immediately brought extra pillows to the room on request.

Our room was quite small, but not tiny - so quite functional for three nights. The room itself was a little dated, but was well presented and charming.

Breakfast was delicious, with lots of fresh food and friendly service.

Being a couple of minutes to the waterfront means it is a bit quieter than most of the other hotels and therefore we had no issue with mozzies.

One drawback was the lack of aircon - there was a portable unit put in our room but it wasn't very effective, so we had to open the balcony doors.

Overall this is a great hotel with a bit of character (and a fantastic wine bar opposite!) and well worth considering.

This hotel could be great but .... I visited in mid-Oct and was the only guest. My poorly lit room was gloomy but perfectly adequately sized and equipped albeit fairly basic. My shower room was fine apart from the shower column being broken so ideal for someone who was under 4 feet high. However I never got to experience the bed as having gone out to supper and returned at 8.45 I found myself locked out, no-one in the hotel to let me in and the phone off the hook. I spent the night in the car.

Having travelled throughout Hungary (I am a travel writer) I believe that this hotel is not good value and is not in keeping with the rest of this amazing town. There are, I am sure, much better value places around, particularly out of season, and ones that do not lock their guests out for the entire night! However I can vouch that the car park is well illuminated - all night.

So friendly staff! They worked hard to satisfy us, and they relay made it. Nice little bar and fantastic good Hungarian food.
Very clean and tidy rooms. Nice beds.
Close to the lake and everything. Beautiful walks around the town.
And if you can and will take a massage. The massage is the best I ever had.

The building is magnificient. It has the old charm and named after the famous Hungarian singer Blaha Lujza. The small street around and coffee shops are cute. Very close to Lake Balaton only 200meters.

The breakfast is continental and great selection.

Rooms are smaller but comfortable. Bathrooms are clean.

Stuff are friendly. Special thanks to Mr Zoltan who is so kind.

I have not stayed in the hotel, but had dinner here several times. The hotel is in the old town of the city, charming, calm and clean. The whole street, the park behind, and this building as well takes you to a time journey back to the 1900's. The food was the best we had in Balatonfüred, the kitchen is rather traditional, the portions are huge, enough for 2 people, but tasty and nicely served. The staff is professional and friendly, we felt to be welcomed and comfortable. They let you sit as long as you wish, they are not pushy, not present all the time, and still you do not have to wait long if you want to reorder or pay.

I stayed here for one night as the other pension I was staying at was full. I only needed a single room so that is why I was able to get a room during their busiest season. The room had one twin bed and was very, very small. I still had a pleasant sleep. There was no a/c but I was thankful for the fan in the room. The breakfast was excellent and offered many choices. The location is nice, close to the lake but yet in an area where it feels peaceful and not crowded. The staff at the hotel were friendly.

We spent there 3 nights, the location is great, walking to the beach after breakfast.
Also the dinner is great. But the room was dusty, and we all got allergy in the end.
