All the reviews about the hotel are right on -- beautiful Art Deco gem tucked away near the City Center. Great communication before, during and after the stay. We had a medium/large room for a couple and an 8 year old and had more than...More

We walked by this hotel when in Budapest and dropped in. Fantastic location and beautiful street. I had a bit of buyer's remorse on our hotel selection after seeing this one😉. Budapest has a lot of different districts. This area is my favorite.More

Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention

and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.

Taxi fares quoted by others are about right.
There is also a van shuttle (miniBUD) for about 5500 HUF/person that groups passengers going to the same area in loads of 7 and leaves as soon as each van is full. I did this last trip and they said it would take a maximum of 30 minutes to fill the van, but we left in under 10 minutes. Skip the crowded counters for this service in the post-customs area and wait until you get into the public arrivals area where there are more less-crowded counters.
The least expensive option is the bus and metro combination, which is 700 HUF. You need to buy two tickets from the BKK counter in the airport and board the 200E bus. VALIDATE one of the tickets as soon as you board, as they do spot check for that. At Kobanya-Kispest station, you get off the bus and transfer to Line 3 of the metro (the bus will stop next to the station in an uncovered area that seems to be the final stop, but if you wait for the next stop, it'll turn around and stop across the street under the shopping center entrances where there are escalators up to the station platform). Once on Line 3 (remember to validate), look for the Kalvin Ter stop and get off there. It's about a two block walk to the hotel from there.
Lots of info online on various sites if you want more details on either option above. Personally, I don't travel with any baggage other than a carry-on, so transit is usually what i use. I only tried the minivan shuttle to see what that was like. Time savings by taxi is about 20 minutes if that's important.
