A lovely little hotel in a great location, very friendly staff.. we arrived at ten am expecting to leave our bags but our room was available which was great! The rooms have lovely toiletries and a powerful hairdryer. We stayed in an attic room based on other reviews about it being romantic but if we came back we would go for a normal room, it was quaint but climbing up to the bed and avoiding the beams, especially in the night, was not ideal for us. Loved the freestanding claw bath and plenty of hot water, not great if you prefer showers. Overall a lovely stay.

After much research we booked Hotel Gerloczy and are so glad we did. We chose a balcony room, and had a spacious room with a small but perfectly formed balcony, with a small table and two chairs. It was even mild enough to sit out there for a short while.
The welcome at the hotel was warm and friendly, and we loved our stay. The room was clean and well equipped, including two comfy tub chairs, and breakfast in the café downstairs was generous and tasty. Over our three night stay we sampled the Hungarian omelette, granola with coconut milk and maple syrup, and croissants, baked on the premises. Plenty of fresh orange juice and tea or coffee as well.
Good location for everything we wanted to do, and we walked lots! There were plenty of metro stations nearby, we just chose to walk and enjoy the sunshine and the architecture.
Probably could have done with a little more clothes storage space as not everything needed hanging, but the wardrobe was so large we managed with the large shelf and our packing cubes.
Quirky bathroom, with a circular section in the shower area, built into the wall. The shower edge didn't keep all the water in, but no major flood occurred.
We had no issues with noise, although I suspect that in the summer people eating outside in the square below and hanging out in general could generate some noise. The room had two sets of windows/doors to the balcony, and air conditioning, which would no doubt help mitigate any external noise.
Very pleased to have stayed here, and would be happy to return to such a friendly place.

The Hotel Gerloczy is a gem of a place off the beaten path. It is located on a side street off a side street in the Astoria section of the city. The hotel fronts onto a small plaza with trees that frame the front nicely. The actual front door is around the corner or one can enter thru the restaurant. The front desk is nestled at the base of a circular staircase that winds its way up to the top floor. The rooms are large and well appointed. Ceilings have to be at least ten feet high. My room had a balcony above the restaurant with a view of the plaza. The queen size bed was covered with a duvet and was very comfortable. The room charge included breakfast. Breakfast Is served in a sit down restaurant and not a buffet. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Because I had an early flight on check out they made me a sandwich and coffee to go. Highly recommended and I look forward to my next visit.

We arrived around noon, fully expecting to drop our bags and begin exploring as we were many hours before check-in time. We were pleasantly surprised to be quickly checked in and have our room available so that we could freshen up, unpack a bit, and then start exploring.

Included in our stay was breakfast and the restaurant downstairs has a very nice menu and professional staff. In fact, we saw a number of diners at all times of the day during our stay that were not hotel guests as the food and staff were known locally as a place to dine.

The staff was always friendly. The room while older, which we were looking for that experience, was clean and well-maintained.

We had a 3 night stay at this hotel after our river cruise.

Location is great and just a short stroll to the city centre. There is a supermarket and Irish pub across the road. Many restaurants and bars close by.

It’s an older hotel but very well maintained with large rooms. We paid extra for a balcony room.

We has issues with the air-conditioning and reported the issue daily as the room was extremely hot. I was told after second night that technician found no issues. The issue was definitely not resolved.

Whilst the room is double glazed we had to sleep with the doors open so street noise and loud drunks in the street after hours were an issue.

No offer to change rooms or a discount offered.

It’s a pity as I would have provided a higher review ranking otherwise.

This hotel it selling itself short when it self-identifies as a 3-star. It is definitely better. We spent a few days in the attic room which was as romantic as it was practical. I tried to think of how to describe the room and haven't come up with anything that does it juatice. Quality vintage-modern romantic? Whatever, we loved it. Pictures here are accurate, room feels fuzzy warm in person (intangible, I know, but that was our impression).

Location is central. There are innumerable restaurants, bars, and stores within easy walking distance.

Some advice to management: you're a 4 star hotel. Some travelers will exclude anything lower than 4, and will miss your great hotel. What a shame.

This is a small quiet boutique hotel a little off the main streets but still walking close to all the best bits of Budapest. If that’s what you seek then you can’t go wrong. We had a lovely room with views over the square (guess that could get noisy in the summer evenings but no problem for March when we enjoyed a few rays on the small balcony).
Restaurant that is attached to hotel is great, serving some modern Hungarian food plus a filling tasty breakfast. V happy to return here.

We stayed for 3 nights in early October, 2023. Rooms have a vintage look and feel but everything is well maintained and quite beautiful. Staff are fantastic, friendly and helpful and the breakfast in their cafe can't be beat. Rather than the typical buffet, it's menu driven and very well prepared. The location is pretty much perfect too. A walk to the Danube takes under 10 minutes as does a walk to the Deak ter metro station, where 3 of the 4 metro lines can be easily accessed. To sum up, great space, great food, great location and great people. We'd definitely stay here again.

Great location, great rooms, great cafe downstairs, and great staff in a very quiet spot. The room on the third floor was large and comfortable, and had windows that you could open for fresh air. The young man who worked at the reception desk was a delight. I absolutely loved this boutique hotel. Do yourself a favour and stay here!

We had a fabulous stay at the Gerloczy Hotel. It was our first visit to Budapest & we spent 5 days discovering the city on foot & by boat. Everything is within walking distance yet the hotel is quietly tucked away in a quiet little square just minutes away from the city centre. The staff are all amazing & welcomed us as you would lifelong friends. Our room was beautiful with loads of character, large windows & wonderfully high ceilings. The breakfasts & evening meals are superb, with a few surprising additions to the menu - everything we had was exceptional. A perfect stay for our wedding anniversary.

What is the name of the nearest Metro Stop and the nearest Tram Stop? Many thanks.
Answer from Sven Z
Bad Sackingen, Germany36 contributions9 helpful votes
Hello, tommomelbourne closest stops are ,Astoria' and 'Deak Ferenc ter'. Both are served by Tram, Metro and Bus. Keep in mind that the airport does have a bus stop only. The express line to the city center is line 100E, which terminates at Deak Ferenc ter. It requires its own tickets, which cost about 3 EURO one way.
