Really, I’ve been in many hostels in Budapest and around the world, and this is BY FAR the WORST ONE I have ever seen. The owner is simply a criminal. No matter what you order, he will put you in a dirty dorm, with a SINGLE TOILET SHARED WITH OTHER DORMS!!! For instance, I ordered a triple room with private...

I've been in a Budapest with a my friend for almost five days. We had booked a private chamber in this "hostel" more than 2 weeks before but when we have arrived in Sip Utca, n.5, there was no one. We call the number of the hostel and after 30 minutes they took us in a horrible apartament in Kossuth...

We waited more than one hour for the receptionist that should gave us room keys but he didn't come. He stopped answering the phone (to all three numbers we had) and to SMS. They overbooked our room and they didn't tell us! We met other guys from that hostel and they showed us their room: nothing to do with the...

Think Mogadishu in Black Hawk Down (thankfully the Somalian gunmen are having the weekend off) and you get a mental image of the apartment block that the hostel is located in. On the plus side for the owners, the theives that 'broke in' to our apartments and 'forced open' the lockers were clearly beginners, managing as they did to overlook...

The hostel was very hard to find as there was no sign at all, just a big black door which can only be entered with the right codes. The staff was pretty friendly but didn't care too much about the fact that there was no web access as promised. Actually we had payed for a double room with a private bathroom...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
