I stayed in the Big Fish for 3 nights with a friend and it was amazing: it was the cleanest hostel I have seen, the staff was so kind, the kitchen was fully equipped, baths were modern and clean, and the bedroom was very comfortable. It was also very calm (surely because I went there in February), and cozy. Being...

Great price and location. Staff very helpful and nice. The room was great. Something to improve? The mattresses. They could also offer something to have breakfast but anyways, really good and recommended.

Awesome hostel clean and have great location for walking, I had the private room and no problems during my stay and the bathrooms are pretty clean. It has a tram stop half block away excellent to get through the city, didn't had the time to socialize but you can feel the good hostel vibe

Big Fish Hostel was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Europe, and I’ve got to say the atmosphere is so engaging and intimate to the point where you feel like you’re not just superficially meeting people but involving yourself in a community. I had a lot of fun being involved in the music, the singing (despite not...

Has a great small hostel vibe. Good for young backpackers. We had a good time relaxing with the hostel employees. Clean bathrooms with the ability to lock the door and have some privacy. Small kitchen with free coffee and tea; unfortunately there is no breakfast. The 4 bed room was very large, only downside was hard and uncomfortable beds. Would...

I went there with my mum whilst visiting Budapest. We were really impressed with our food and with the service. We had a plate of calamari to start, a dish of raw salmon on a green bed and black pasta. We changed our minds about our food and they accommodated it. The food was really fresh and tasty, also great...

I was spending a short weekend with my other young, American female friend in a 8-person mixed room. The staff and fellow travelers were beyond friendly. We felt as if we were staying with one big family. We were smack dab in the middle of the bar district and centrally located in the Budapest's biggest sites. My friend and I...

We came to stay in mid-July for 3 nights and found the Big Fish hostel to be an excellent choice. I stayed in Budapest the summer before at the Marco Polo Hostel not far away but in retrospect the Big Fish Hostel was far better value and had a much greater atmosphere! The location was also much better connected to...

Really nice hostel which is near to all of the ruin bars and a short walk from the cultural attractions too. Great staff, always good atmosphere, easy to meet new travellers. Decoration is really cool too and loads of nice touches like free herbal teas and coffee. Really clean and good showers. Only downside is wifi can be a bit...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

“I'd stay in one of the eight bed dorms since they aren't cramped at all, and you will save a bit of cash. The best shower is down the hallway opposite the kitchen. It is larger with more room to maneuver which is helpful if you're over six feet tall like me.”

“I would absolutely recommend this hostel. We've arrive by bike a budapest with bikes and took a double room that was really big (we did'nt know that). Big enough to put our two bikes inside and the two boxes to pack them back to our country, and the staff offered the option to do that. Even though if you doesn't take private room, there is safe place to lock the bikes inside the building without any problem. We have lock them there finally. Regards”
