I've stayed at this small hostel a couple of times while visiting Hungary, and found it to be a great, unexpensive option. From its very central location, close to Vaci street and the Great Market, in a very typical Budapest building, to the staff and facilities such as a computer, wi-fi, and the shared kitchen, which proved to be very...

Pro: The room was clean, there was a security lock and the female receptionist was very welcoming. Cons: The room was always cold at night, the male receptionist was a little curt and having to share a bathroom with 15 other people was very difficult, expecially when some people occupied it for hours.

I booked two nights then cancelled one with no cancellation fee at all. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful although they're not around the whole time; they only arrive at 9 am. Mostly they'll send an email to confirm your booking but make sure you contact them well before your stay to make sure there will be someone...

This is a very small hostel with only 3 dorm rooms. Since it is so small you are bound to meet people. There is two bathrooms, and only one shower which wasn't enough for the amount of people as you often had to wait. The rooms were an okay size, and a giant locker is provided just outside of the...

Where to start? The Oleander hostel may not be the most beautiful luxery hostel you will ever visit. What you already may have read from other reviews is the shortage of showers or lack of airconditioning. Still this is the 2nd time I visited this hostel for a few days and not without reason. The price and location are really...

Stayed at the Oleander Hostel for 4 nights in late June. The main benefit of the hostel is the price, especially as it is located so near the centre of Budapest. Other positives: - Receptionists are usually there (apart from very late ie 3am) and are happy to help. - The kitchen facility is very reasonable and there's plenty of...

As two female travellers we were originally meant to stay here for 2 nights but extended it to 3. The location was perfect, staff were friendly and helpful, facilities were good, it was very well priced. Great, cosy place and will definitely return of ever in Budapest again!

Very small but pratical. Good position , just 5 minutes away to the metro station and big supermarket and nice restaurants. The people were very kind and friendly. I had to pay some € more than the price which was written at the moment of the booking. The Bathroom is a bit too small and if it would have been...

I stayed in a room in march with two of my friends. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly- with one of them telling us how to get to all major attractions. Their english was also excellent which helped alot with my awful attempt at hungarian! The other people staying there were also very welcoming. The room was nice and...

I stayed here with 3 of my friends last week. The rooms were perfect for us and we were suprised by how cheap it was. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinners every night and the hostel is in the perfect location (in the city but in a quiet side street so we could sleep). The staff were...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
