The Carlton in Budapest is a good hotel - it's not the newest modern hotel, but for the price you cannot expect more - room are ok - we travelled with 3 and the room was more than sufficient - bathroom is clean and functional - don't expect more. It's enough for a 2-3 days stay in Budapest. Location is...

Yes, the rooms are small as others say, but it is Europe, that is normal. They are dated but comfortable and clean. The employees are friendly and very helpful and the location is just perfect for people that want to be close to the action but not right in it. The hotel is right off the chain bridge on the...

An excellent hotel, very clean, good sized rooms. Delightful and very helpful staff , a very good breakfast with plenty of choice. The location was great - next to the funicular at the Buda side of the chain bridge. The Belgian restaurant next door is highly recommended too. Would definately go there again.

The main feature of the Carlton is it's excellent location. On the Buda side, just over the Chain Bridge from Pest and nestling at the foot of the Castle Hill. It really couldn't be better placed for sightseeing tourists. The tariff is very reasonable also but the hotel is what you might expect at this price, clean, functional but no...

We arrived at around 2pm, and checked in with no problems, lovely staff and great location. We were on the 7th floor which is the top floor so made for no noise from above and a good view. The room was basic, but had everything you need. The cleanliness however was not so good, alot of dust and a lot...

We had a very pleasant stay at the Carlton. We booked early and got really good prices. It is very well located, by Chain Bridge, making it easy to reach all the attractions. Our triple room was nice and quiet (the bathroom could be bigger, but it was clean and well equipped). Free wifi and safe in the room. Superb...

We liked this hotel for the location on the Buda side of the Danube. All the famous sightseeing places were close by. Rooms were nice and comfortable, very quiet which is a bonus when you are out the whole day and would love to crash into bed with no disturbances, but rooms were on the smaller side. Staff very friendly...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
