Walk down the hill to see the sights, and take a cab back in the late afternoon. This is not a bargain hotel. Rather, it is for making memories. You feel like you are taking in all of Budapest when you look out the window.

Hi! I'm pretty sure I had read that there are restaurants open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well as the dinner cruises (as well as some sites) -- certainly the Churches will have services over the holidays. Also, the restaurant and the bar at the Budapest Hilton would likely be open to accommodate travelers. But, I had very good luck corresponding with the concierge at the Hilton in advance of our trip, so I would reach out to them directly to see what they had to say. The only issue that could be a problem is public transportation and/or taxis -- they'll likely be on limited schedule or drivers of taxis will most likely be with their families. The Hilton in the Castle District can arrange for taxis or drivers as well.

Hello. We had an upgraded room while we stayed at the Hilton that did not face the river. And I was quite pleased we did not pay extra to have a river facing view, because with Hilton's location on Castle Hill and right next to the Fisherman's B, you can see the view for free during your wanderings on the Hills.
