Travelled as a group of four, celebrating birthdays. Trip given as a gift.
We arrived mid morning. Had read previous reviews re taxis at the airport and glad we had. We’re stopped at exit, offered a taxi to hotel for 14000 HUF. Declined and were...More
Hotel Orion Varkert, Budapest. A small hotel on the Buda side, on a quiet street one block back from the Danube, half a block from a tram stop. It's about a 600 meter walk to the Chain Bridge and the funicular up to Buda Castle,...More
Really impressed with the location of Hotel Orion Varkert, our room was a reasonable size, with a bath/ shower which was great to have the choice. Beds were also really comfortable!
Our breakfast was not included in our stay, so we had it 4/7 mornings....More
Room is comfortable and new, service is great. Very well located too, you can very easily walk to the main tourist areas. Breakfast very basic but does its job, costs 8 euros. No room service (small hotel). Would definitely stay there again.
We stayed here for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised with how great the location was, how kind hearted the staff were and how nice the rooms were. Breakfast was really nice-the extras of freshly cooked eggs was a treat! Rooms are simple but spotless...More
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many
events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

I heard the same about taxis outside the train station and we also came in on a train from Vienna. So after much internal debate, I decided we should take the tram a few stops where we then got off and switched to another tram which dropped us just a couple blocks from the hotel. Even with 4 adults and full size luggage we had no issues. But I understand that isn't always the best option for some so if you need a cab I would definitely contact the hotel and ask them to arrange something for you, that's how we got to the airport on our departure and they were great! Both the hotel and the cab they arranged.
