District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Just spent a fabulous few nights in Budapest, and I would absolutely recommend the New York Palace. I was a bit skeptical that the hotel might be in need of a renovation after reading other reviews here... and while the room (upon close inspection) could use a bit of a refresh,

The hotel is marvelous! Magnificent breakfast and hall. Gorgeus rooms. I stayed at the Marriott and Le Meridien before becoming the Ritz, but this is definetly better and usually better priced. The Marriott offers better castle and river view, but this is classic luxury. If

The stairs are quite pretty and they do go all the way from lobby to all room floors. I took elevator to spa below so not sure if they go to the sub level but as noted fire code should have steps to below

The hotel is situated at the edge of the 'good area'. If you step out of the hotel and walk towards Danube you will get to the better part of the city. Behind the hotel, although safe, but not the prettiest part of town. We do not have UBER for over a year but if you use taxi be careful to use one which does not only have TAXI on it's sign but also a company name for example: City, Budapest, Fő, Radio

By the way. I strongly advise you transact in Hungarian Forints rather than Euros. You end up paying roughly 10% more if transacting in Euros. They love it, naturally !
