Guest house VILLA KAUNENSIS is waiting for all those who want to stay in the historic building of the interwar period in the main square of Kaunas Old Town, near the Town Hall. Once upon a time, there was the Kaunas Priesthood Seminary and the Museum of Church Art. The adjoining The St. Trinity Church creates an extraordinary mood to this area; it seems to be filled with an aging atmosphere of sacredness. There are many tourist attractions and famous historical sites that allow you to admire valuable cultural heritage or museum exhibitions. Guests can enjoy in the cultural life of the city, which is constantly boiling on the Town Hall Square, and those who prefer the impressive natural shelter can take a walk in the park near the Nemunas and Neris river blossom, loved by the Kaunas citizens. Ancient Kaunas Castle (XIV century), the Bernardine Monastery complex (XV century), the heart of the Old Town - Archcathedral Basilica are within 3 minutes walking distance.

I had a room facing the town square. There are bright spotlights that shine right into the room. Although there are curtains this still made for bad sleep. The halls echo so you can her everything in your room, including late night revelers climbing the stairs to their own room. Very friendly staff and very clean room, but the mattress is a piece of thin foam. Love the high ceilings and parquet floors.

This was exactly as expected after reading earlier reviews. Booking.com sent out an automatic message about how the reception might not be open at all times, but it was followed by another, less automatic message about how my selected check-in time of 3PM is accepted. So it was a little bit confusing, but needed no extra action. My one-minute check-in at 3:05 was easy and friendly. It's an old building with old plumbing and not very thick walls, so some level of noise is to be expected at almost all hours. Not very loud, but still present. The shower cubicle and the chairs are a little bit more worn than in the official pictures, but everything is still clean.

Basic accommodation in an excellent location. Directly in old town square and everything is walkable. Staff was very friendly. Rooms are basic (beds chairs wardrobe windows) but perfect for a base for a long layover. Excellent rates.

Villa Kaunensis is the best place & location to stay. Rooms are spacious, high ceilings, some rooms have a balcony. Relaxing & peaceful, historical location in the old town of Kaunas, surrounded by old beautiful churches, in a converted priesthood seminary building with a courtyard. Cardinals, Archbishops & Bishops from around the world stayed at this historical guest house. Favorite place to stay for National & International poets, writers, painters, artists...guest house always been & is a venue for art exhibits, intellectual discussions, spiritual retreats. There is no better place in Kaunas, VILLA KAUNENSIS is the top.

Great value for money, next to the riverside and the main street in old town, restaurants, bars and galleries at your doorstep. Cute minimal interior and peaceful atmosphere. Very clean. Really enjoyed my stay. Great for a solo traveller.

Good well priced residence. Basic but comfortable and clean. Be prepared for shared amenities but this is of little problem. There is no food on site but plenty available in the surrounding streets both for dinner and brakfast

The hostel is located right next to a monastery in the centre of the Old Town of Kaunas. The hostel is clean, the rooms are spacious and tea and coffee are available for free (breakfast is not offered). Parking costs 3€/day. Although the hostel is in a very quiet environment the walls are not really thick. We had really noisy children next door and could hear every step they were taking.

We have been here for three nights. The place is easy to find, right at the end of the main square of the Old Town. Just footsteps from the Christmas Market, restaurants, bars and minimarkets. The reception is not open 24/7, but staff is friendly and helpful. The lovely girl booked for us a taxi for the early flight we had to take. The huge room for your breakfast (not available on site) is equiped with kettle, microwave oven, fridge and of course mugs, plates and cutlery. Complimentary coffee and tea available. The room with a nice wooden floor, high ceiling and huge windows was big and airy, very clean and warm. The bathroom simple, but clean. Bring your own shower gel shampoo, as there is only a hand soap dispenser. Hairdryer available at reception on request. The building was very quiet as quiet is all the area. BUT saturday night the club next door can be annoying... we were able to hear the bass of the music till 4am!!! (luckily we had to leave at that time)

We three middle aged British guys booked ahead from London, choosing an en-suite room for two nights as we expected to have to recover from a sleepless night getting an early morning plane from Luton. Traipsing from the bus stop (29 from Airport, only €.8 each) at the Eastern end of town we walked down the main drag with the trendy cafes and restaurants towards the main/market square. The Guest house was at the far end, easy to find. A bell to push at the door and in we got. The friendly receptionist, open until 21:00 in June, greeted us and checked us in. She issued us with a security fob/key for the front door for after office hours. FYI - Do not try to get in from the rear (we had walked back later from river confluence or castle) as no rear doors are open. We were allocated a big tall ceilinged room (33) with a nice view westwards of the garden and big wooden crucifix. Occasionally tour guided groups wandered through. Don't do a JC in Life of Brian or you will shock the Tourists! Three single beds with clean sheets, big pillow, duvet, bedside cabinet table bed lamp and lots of power sockets nearby for gadgets each. A central ceiling lamp lit up the room well. There was a desk and three chairs! Brilliant for keeping your own things separate. The curtains looked thick and blackout style but proved not able to keep the morning light out. A good size wardrobe with shelves and mirror had plenty of coat hangers and even hooks on the side, great! Shower-room was big, clean and modern and had a central light and LED spotlight over big mirror over sink. Light was not very bright though. Tap pressure was good for jetting out a shaver though. There was a toilet, bin and heated towel rail. Hooks for hanging, great again! Shower was a hard screen . Shower/wash gel in shower and on sink. Internet access in the room was touch and go with two 'guest house' signals (one 5G) but (despite a code) kept on saying not secure and disappearing which was quite frustrating when planning ahead. We thought the dining room was more reliable but turned out equally annoying. Maybe it was a town wide problem we just hit by chance? Clean and tidy kitchen/dining room offered fresh coffee but no coffee maker so bring your own filters if that is your style. There was no milk, only sugar (not sure if milk in fridge is fair game). There were no mugs only cups and saucers. Free unlimited morning coffee was very welcome! The general ambiance was quiet despite the echoey corridors. We slept well. Our third Thursday night had some noisy neighbours at 01:30 banging around for no apparent reason. Not the fault of the guest house but the sound did travel through the walls and floors. We stayed that extra third night and there was no offer of clean towels so we survived happily on the original three (as we do anyway). Others might want to ask for replacements. The bedsheets were not changed, no problem for us. It is not a fancy hotel! Next door is an open air concert venue bar that is quite loud on concert dates. Repertoire is varied, starting at 19:30 but finishing around 22:30 so ok. Beware parking attendants booking cars outside! Also the square is frequented by bikers and guys showing off their latest birthday presents as big and noisy cars bikes zoom up and down the cobbled streets, sometimes quite late at night. Not the fault of the guest house but worth bearing in mind! Police completely absent. Parking wardens busy though! Town priority?
