The guest house is very well run by the nuns who are always friendly and smiling. It is a modern building and kept very clean. The rooms are en-suite and there is plenty of space. There is a common area with a fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. The bus from Tallinn stops just outside the guest house. The bus service is frequent and it takes about 20 minutes from Viru Keskus. There is a shopping centre with restaurants and a large Rimi Supermarket just across the road. Secure parking is available. A good continental breakfast is included in the rate. There is a peaceful atmosphere and a great place to stay if you enjoy a quiet nights sleep.

We were recently treated to 3 amazing nights at the Bridgettine Convent at the end of a 1 month tour through Eastern Europe & Russia, where we mainly stayed in 4 star centrally located hotels. What a contrast and what a delight our 'out of town' stay in Tallinn turned out to be. Set in a peaceful location close to a lovely beach and river the Convent is only a 15 minute bus ride to the Old Town and with the assistance of the helpful sisters we purchased a 3 day bus pass for Euro5. With buses departing every 5 to 10 minutes access to the city was easy. After a month of city & village stays we relished the chance to stay in this peaceful setting, with plenty of morning and evening walks, yet an easy bus ride to all that Tallinn has to offer. We live in New Zealand and found the booking process very easy and the sisters were again both efficient and quick to answer any of our questions. The building and the rooms are beautiful, simple yet spacious, full of light and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were the best that we had in Europe, as was the lovely powerful shower. The Convent is almost brand new and has been purpose built so everything worked extremely well. Breakfast in other reviews has been described as 'sparse' and it probably is compared to a Cruise Ship, but we found the choice and quality of food excellent. Twice what we would normally have back in our home. I am not religious at all, so was a little apprehensive about staying in a convent, but our visit was one of the highlights of a 5 week holiday - our own rural retreat! After staying in Russia where hotel staff were rather 'dour' we found the sisters quite the opposite, so friendly, so helpful and surprisingly a lot of fun. How would I rate our stay - Ten out of 10 - if visiting Tallinn for more than 2 nights then you simply must stay at the Convent.…

We stayed six nights here. The fare is basic: the beds are very firm and the breakfast is...um...sparse. But that is not a detractor. Instead, it is exactly as you would expect at a convent. The staff are nine nuns from India and Mexico. They have been providing traveler accommodations for hundreds of years -- and they have gotten pretty good at it. All seem to have accepted their roll as a servant. Busses into the Old town of Tallinn can be caught just across the street. The nuns will loan you a transportation card which you can load at the R-Kiosk at the bus stop. There is a laundry in the same building and below the R-Kiosk. Next day service and the prices are reasonable. No one would want to transport their rented car to Helsinki so...I asked if I could leave our car in the convent's private (locked) parking lot for three days while we were away. "Of course," was the answer. Don't stay anywhere else in Tallinn if you wish to avoid the noise, hustle and bustle of the city yet still have easy access.…

If you take one of rooms 11-18, you will get a view of the 1407 convent ruins (which in the Middle Ages was the biggest church in the Baltic region), and a rose garden. Other rooms just have a view of the gardhe (which is all around the convent). Since the windows are huge and make uo half of the wall of the room, I could just sit and stare at the monastery ruins for hour: the sunrise, the sunset, the birds on convent walls. The new convent and guesthouse is full of light, it has been designed with the help of system of glass walls and plants and a pool (which goes all around the half the buidling) so that the light and the sunrise and sunset reflects itself back and forth between the walls. And you do not even have to go outside to get a magical nature experience. Add to that the church bells at 7 in the morning and a few more times a day, lots of plants (which are well taken care of) and you get the idea of the place. Just delightful! The new convent is not really ready yet. The idea of the architects was that roses will crawl on special posts that have been designed through the windows and when they drop their blossoms, they will fall into the pool surrounding the chapel. Visitors get their own key which opend the gate, the front door and the room door, so you can come and go at any time, you are not expected to live according to the rythm of nuns. You are welcome to visit all prayers and mass, either take part or just watch as a guest. You are not expected to be religious, the convent respects people of all kinds. The guesthouse is right next to the chapel so you really feel a part of everything. In the kitchen you can hear the chants from chapel (and watch sunrise/set either on the river or the chapel) at the same time (due to the design of glass walls). I also recommend you go walking at night (whe it is dark), because then everything is again very different. Go around the convent and approach the old ruins from the river. The ruins are lit and it is a very beautiful sight. The garden is amazing, I have no ide how the get the roses blooming in September. The garden is well lit at night, there are plenty of chair and tables also. Another privilege of visitors is that you can meet the priest of the convent. Vello Salo is known by every Estonian, he is a major cultural figure in Estonia (theologist, translator). He speaks lots of languages, and is very easy to talk to. The nuns are helpful, educated, very happy. They do not intrude but if you want to talk to them or want them to show you smth, they always do (unless it is mass time) The rooms are 42 euros per person which is about the cheapest you get if you want a private room and a private bathroom. Rooms are cleaned every day, beds are comfortable, there is air conditioning, good internet connection in every room. Breakfast in included, you can also order lunch and dinner, and there is a small kitchen in the resting area with dishes, microwave, coffeemaker, facilities for boiling water, TV (never sawanybody watch it, I guess people do not go there to watch TV), varous DVD players. There is a library which will be open for you any time you like, and there is also a common computer there you can use. Most people have mentioned the beach neraby, but there is also a river right next to the monastery (boats can be rented), and a lot of forest paths. There is both a pedestrian avenue and one for rollerskaters and bikers going all the way to Tallin centre along the beach. Buses go every 5 minutes to centre and it takes about 10 minutes And a really cute dog on the orher side of the monastery fence (living in a house next door) who constantly begs for visitors and nuns to massage her through the fence. She came like a religious revelation. People who travel with kids: the nuns are really friendly to kids. Nuns speak English and Italian (the official language of the Birgittine order) and Estonian (masses and prayers and chants are held in Estonian), a lot of religious texts they use in mass are translated by father Vello Salo holding the very mass. The place is safe as it is surrounde by a fence and it is locked all the time, visitores get their own key. Cars can be parked there and you can also rent a car or a bus from the monastery. The gate through old and new monastery is opened every morning from 7 to 9 and you can visit the ruins before they are open to general public. After that you have to go thruogh the main gate and pay 2 euros. The nuns take care of the guesthouse personally, a thoruogh cleanup every day unles you say you do not need it. What I especially liked was that the shower was very powerful, more so than showers that are used fot therapy and are considered to give a powerful water massage. Since the monastery is outside the city centre (not really outside the city as some have said) you can see stars very clearly. And if you find a place at night where you can see the lit monastery ruins, the river and the stars reflecting on the river, and smell roses from the rose garden .... In autumn the houses everywhere around have apple abundance so they leave apples and sometimes other fruits in baskets on ther fences for everyone to take for free. Real apples, without chemicals and stuff. So as you can see, I really like the place and intend to keep spending time there from time to time. Well, since I alsio made friends with the dog Anna.…

The guesthouse is part of the new convent out near Pirita Beach - about 15 minutes by taxi from the ferry. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable with an ensuite. Our window looked down over the ruins of the old convent - deceptively small, until you go exploring them in the morning before breakfast and before normal tourists have access. Really worth making the effort to check them out. There is a small kitchen for guests use. The nuns, not all of whom could speak English, were very friendly but not intrusive. Unfortunately the main light in our room was not working but we were able to use the lounge to play scrabble in the evening. Breakfast has a small but adequate selection - this is not a 5 star hotel. The beach is easily accessible. To get into the old town, the nuns lend you a card to put credit on from a small nearby convenience store with the bus stop nearby. The bus takes you to the outskirts of the old town but you need to be able to walk through the tourist areas. The nuns don't provide tourist brochures or maps so come prepared with your own from travel guides. The tariff is not expensive but must be paid in cash. I would recommend this place to travellers who aren't looking for noise and nightlife…

Brigettine convent guest house is run like a bed and breakfast; basic rooms and a very good value. The guest house is next to the current convent on the grounds of the 1407 St. Brigitta convent ruins. You have free access to the ruins from the guest house even when they are closed to the public. Tallinn is a 10 minute bus ride from the guest house. All of the English-speaking guests were housed in the same section and we would gather in a comfortable lobby to chat. I had a lovely and relaxing time there. I highly recommen it.

The Convent Guest House is easy to find, not in the old town but in walking distance to water views and a beach. I was welcomed by the lovely Sisters and shown a clean, but simple room (the en suite bathroom was modern and large). The breakfast was simple but adequate. I have stayed in a convent before and this was a similar experience, a very warm and welcoming environment. Don't miss the ruins of the church next door. I would not hesitate to stay in this Guest house again.

Wow ! Completely delightful experience; a true sanctuary for those weary from the road. I had my best sleep in ten days, and awoke to the sound of plainchant rising from the chapel in the distance. The Convent itself is a superbly-designed Modernist facility, set against the backdrop of the ancient town, for those that seek quality of the Architecture as an essential part of having to travel. The beautiful grounds are separated from the tourist-zone of the Old Town by a ten minute taxi ride, along the water's edge, which provides an excellent visual overview of the town's layout, and also creates a measure of insulation from the casino crowd. The suite was large, minimally appointed though very comfortable, and immaculately clean. Wi-fi worked seamlessly. Well-considered kitchenette facility serving all suites on the floor. Very interesting library facility on the ground floor. Mindfulness pervades every aspect of the customer interface making the experience of the Place, positive and memorable - as every other review in this list clearly affirms !…

The previous reviews pretty much say it all. We had relaxing stay here and glad we chose to stay out at Pirita. We were warmly welcomed by the sister from Kerala who had lived in England and so had good English. Some of the sisters are from Mexico so Spanish is obviously an advantage. The convent is very modern, clean and quiet. The single beds are a little on the narrow side but comfortable. The short walk out of the convent, across the road leads to a lovely path through the pine trees to the beach. Late afternoon saw lots of windsurfers and sailboats leaving the marina to sail out in the bay. While it was warm the sea was icy cold. The sisters are friendly and happy which made the stay even more enjoyable.
