Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was around 22:00 local time and I was trying to find a decent place where stay. Thought that this one will have to do, because I was so tired. But when I saw the receptionist (younger guy) he was just sitting in the computer and didn't even give a look on me! So I said Hi and then he just mumbled there. I started to fill out the form and then he said that I can't pay by card and I need to get money from ATM somewhere.... Hellooo, its 21'th century and I can't pay by card? That's the biggest non-sense i've ever seen in a hostel.

The location of G9 is good, 15 minutes walk from old town. Thats the good thing. The building lacks elevators and there seems to be some construction work going on in the entrance, leaving cut off electrical wiring out in the stairs. The rooms are very simple, semi-clean and lacks sufficient soundproofing. I guess it´s ok if your a heavy sleeper and just don´t care to much about cleanliness and style.

I have been there just at once. Average hotel, but all there was nice and I liked the room. Personal was very kind and helpfull (and I liked it most here). Breakfast was brought to the room and was poor unfortunately. But anyway for such a cheap price and location that problem wasn't so big.

Expect an actual demilition team to wake you up every day early in the morning. Heavy remodeling is being done in the floor right below the hotel, not just some hammering and drilling. When you discover this it's already too late, you have paid and checked into a "3 star" hotel. No mention of the constructiion work anywhere on the reviews, the price is still as if the hotel offered normal conditions.

Hotel is quite close to the old town. It is cheap, ok, but it cannot mean to be dirty. Room had enough space. Breakfast is only if you book (no buffet), it was quite acceptable. But... It is at third floor without elevator. Wi-Fi was for free but very weak, as you had not. And the room was dirty. Never again.

Second stay at G9 it's a reasonably comfortable budget hotel what you see is what you get. The staff are super helpful and friendly , hotel is conveniently located about 15 minutes walk to the old town Centre. No complaints here.. Happy camper ,

The room was very clean (the cleaning is daily) and spacious for its price, albeit the interior is quite Spartan. The hotel is easy to find and has a great location - the Old Town is 5-10 minutes walk away, the central bus station for local buses at Viru Keskus is 5 minutes away and the bus terminal for long-distance routes is in 20 minutes walk. There are several restaurants close by, including very pleasant Kohvik Narva, also big shopping centers and supermarkets are in the immediate vicinity. I recommend this hotel to anyone who looks for a place close to the center and doesn't need a posh room. Also, there's a parking space in front of the hotel. The only drawback I could see (it's not a problem for me, but might be one for an elderly person), is that the hotel is located on the third floor of the building and there's no elevator.

It is relatively cheap, it is central, but I couldn't recommend this place. It feels like a couple of old apartments divided into rooms, and even though it is clean enough, the building is scruffy and run down and the atmosphere extends a bit into the hotel as well. Friendly staff, but very odd breakfasts - a tray delivered to the room with coffee, juice, yoghurt and a sandwich!

Room Tip: I had a room overlooking the street, which would have been fine had some teenagers not started...

Up two flights of stairs in a building that looks more of an office block, the facilities at G9 are basic and indeed a bit dated - e.g. big old box of a tv. However if it is just a place to put your head for the night, then it is clean and has everything that you need. A very basic breakfast was supplied on a tray brought to the room - you need that bath towel handy! The location is OK for the centre - just a short walk away. It's also on the tram route - take one to each terminus to get a better idea of the whole of Tallinn and not just the touristy bit.

I generally don´t mind to stay in budget hotels. I know what I can get, and I certainly don´t complain for lack of Jacuzzi or cable tv in 30 Euros per night places. However, I found Hotell G9 in Tallinn below standard even for this category. The furniture in the rooms was old without the charm, I would rather say "decaying". Worrying stains were visible on chairs and mattresses. The room was not cleaned within the stay. When I arrived, the conditions could be called as "acceptable", nothing more. Paper-thin walls made necessary the use of ear plugs for the night, due to the noise coming from neighbouring rooms (in the form of normal conversation, nothing crazy), corridor and the road, where a tram goes by. Not a terrible place overall but worse than I expected from reading the reviews here. A plus is the location, just out of the centre, which can be easily reached by foot (5 minutes to Vana gate) and close to the ferries port too (10-15 minutes by foot). Tallinn is a jem anyway, definitely worth the trip!
