Hotel Relais le Chevalier is like a piece of France in the very heart of the Old Town of Riga. Our hotel is located in one of the most famous buildings of Old Riga. According to the legend, the horseshoe which can be seen today on the facade of the building belonged to the horse of the tsar Peter the Great when he was passing by in the 18-th century. That’s where the name “Le Chevalier” comes from. The Italian designers from Terzomillenium studio have managed to convert the inner courtyard of the old building into an astonishing, full of lights and mirrors atrium of the hotel. We offer you 23 rooms, each made in individual style with some of them overlooking the atrium, free high-speed internet, round-the-clock reception, free breakfast which is said to be the best in Riga on the sixth floor of the building, from where all the towers and spires of the Old Town can be seen, in-house boutique Le Chevalier by Akcenty, a unique Calvados Bar and many other attractions to be discovered.

A beautiful Hotel in a most central location and near to so many Historical buildings, Sculptures, Monuments and areas of great interest in the very attractive and clean city of Riga. Our room was very quirky, pleasant to stay in, spotlessly clean and had a gorgeous warm bathroom. The Hotel Manager — Dimitri — was a delight to deal with. He was very knowledgeable, answered all our queries and helped us in a number of ways without any fuss. He is a credit to this Hotel and made our stay there an extremely pleasant experience all round. We shall certainly stay here again and highly recommend this wonderful Hotel.

This beautiful small boutique hotel is located in the heart of the Old Town. The historic building has been completely reconstructed inside.

There are 23 rooms. Only 7 rooms have views outside. The rest 16 rooms are facing the unique atrium.

The only suite is located on the 5th floor below the 6th-floor breakfast room. On our visit, the hotel didn't serve breakfast at all.

The suite has panoramic Old Town views over the lively Livu Square with many bars and restaurants. You could hear some noises through the windows but not disturbingly. The hotel provides earplugs for sleeping.

The service from the helpful reception staff was very friendly.

Our two-night stay had excellent value for 122 euros per night although the breakfast was not included.

Dear, Mikael F, We would like to think you for choosing our hotel for your weekend in Riga and for this amazing review! It is rarely met when guests in such details describe the hotel as if they have had spent a week here or two, but you managed to get to know us well in such a short time - two nights! We are thrilled to know that your stay was perfect value for money and indeed enjoyable despite the fact that we do not serve breakfast at the moment. Thank you for all the kind words! Especially about our staff! It will be a true pleasure hosting you again! Come back soon!

The hotel's central location in the northeast end of Riga's old town made it very easy to explore the city. We were close to the city's main attractions and were within a 5 minute walk to the Cat House, Freedom Monument, Riga/Dome Cathedral, and St. Peter's Cathedral.

We booked the room without a window. It was very nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable. The room was quiet but a bit stuffy and we felt the AC wasn't strong enough. We felt there was still good value with this room though because of the price and there was a lot packed into it. There was a Nespresso coffee machine, tea station, cute tea cups and a large bathroom with a very nice shower. We appreciated that a wall adapter was provided and plugged in that worked with North American style plugs.

The hotel is in a building from the 17th century and has a very nice looking mirrored atrium. There is a fun story where a horse threw a shoe, hit this building and stuck so the owner kept it because he felt it was good luck. The hotel has a bar in the lobby as well as a small shop.

The highlight of this hotel was the breakfast which had a great view of the city from the window and a very good breakfast. The breakfast had a small buffet with cheese, smoked fish, fresh bread and some other nice choices. We enjoyed the variety of drinks like the rhubarb lemonade and hot chocolate. You can order one hot item which included.

The hotel is 30 minutes from the airport and there is a bus stop nearby but Bolt is inexpensive in Riga and we got to/from the airport for 10 euros. Parking nearby is limited and you'd have to go with a private lot which could be a 5-7 minute walk away if you have a car.

Nice location and amazing views from the 5th floor suite, After planning our stay since before Covid-19 I had arranged with the hotel manager to be collected from the airport as this is one of the services. We arrived and no driver so had to make our own way to the hotel, we booked the Bonaparte Suite which is the only room with jacuzzi bath. Once we arrived we quickly found that the Jacuzzi bath was broken. I mentioned it to the staff and was shocked at their response "yes we knew that it was broken" I explained the reason I booked the most expensive room in the hotel was for the jacuzzi and we weren't even offered an apology. Other things where poor as well, the side table was broken off the wall and the heating was set so hot we woke up in a sweat the first night (staff quickly set the temp. the next day). We all so found out that breakfast was not included and you would think it would be when you're paying what we paid. Breakfast not being included actually turn out being a good thing because it looked atrocious and we enjoyed going out to discover some of Rigas amazing breakfast spots. If your looking for luxury and quality 4 star service book somewhere else as this hotel falls short. If you're looking for location and a bit of style then this hotel is great. Read carefully as only a few rooms have actual windows with a view. Also because of its location nect to a nightclub it's noisy at night and the outside square can be very noisy at night.

Dear Matthew, Firstly, I would like to apologize for your unpleasant stay on behalf of our team. The service you have received surely wasn't up to our standards and we appreciate your feedback. The airport transfer got missed due to changes made in the reservation by re-booking the hotel. We only confirm shuttle pick up once an initial reservation has gone through our booking system, unfortunately, we don't monitor any changes made by guests afterward. The room price was reduced due to the fact that the jacuzzi option was not available, I do apologize for the miscommunication on our end. Our reception team is available 24/7 should our guests require any assistance. We are very proud of the service we provide in our hotel and always thrive to meet all guest demands and make everyone's stay memorable. We learn from our mistakes and I would really love to invite you again to stay in our hotel and I personally will be looking after you should you wish to return. Best regards, Dmitry Hotel Manager

One of the most incredible hotels I have stayed in. The hotel is set in the heart of Riga in close proximity to all the local attractions. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. The whole hotel is beautifully curated, we stayed in one of the double deluxe bedrooms and it was so beautiful. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel if you're ever in Riga.

An absolute gem of a hotel. The staff were warm friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautifully furnished, the whole hotel is spotlessly clean with fabulous decor. Breakfast was very special, from the presentation of the food, cooked to order and more than enough choice to set you up for the day ahead. The plates, cups and bowls are also beautiful, attention to detail is everywhere. We’d definitely come back and stay again. Thank you.

This is a first class establishment. Staff are wonderful and members assisted us in retrieving luggage lost by tye airlines, with airport transfers, local transportation and on and on. We had the spacious Bonaparte Suite with views over the square. Double windows and blackout curtains insured a great night’s sleep, even with revelers on the square. Each morning was a enjoyable breakfast experience in the top floor dining room.

The hotel mgr is a warm individual. He understands and delivers true service.

we stayed in the room pictured and was fine but all the floors are wood through out the hotel , so noise transference is quite bad at night. the bar and restaurant was closed for refurbishment which we were not made aware of at the time of booking and we wouldn't have booked this hotel if we knew.the location is excellent. the breakfast was a bit limited but ok and the staff at breakfast were good as were all the staff through out our stay were very helpful .

It is with a heavy heart I knock off a star. The hotel itself is beautiful, timeless design that smelt amazing! The staff were very accommodating. Breakfast was beautiful! There was a buffet but you also got a freshly cooked meal a day, I personally recommend the pancakes!

My reason for knocking off a star is the temperature in our room (36) As others said most rooms don’t have windows. It was a bit odd but your out most of the day anyway so this didn’t bother us particularly. However the air con was broken and our room was very below 24 degrees often higher and one point 29. The first night we managed as o think so tired and it was cold. The second night my partner had no sleep. He got a fan from reception 5am and he got back to sleep. But then I got a cold from the use of the fan. I have to credit the staff as when I went to flag this with reception we moved rooms and actually got an upgraded room from it. However originally she showed me the same room on a different floor (55) and it appeared the same problem there. Along with other reviews this leads me to believe staff are aware this is an issue before our staff and the hotel should not be selling rooms with this problem in them. I hope they get this fixed properly asap - in other reviews they say they have but this was clearly not the case during our staff. Such a shame.

Dear fnevin, I would like to thank you very much for staying with us and your honest feedback. It is important for us to find out how we did and to share with the fellow travellers your experience. Due to the historical nature of the building some of our room windows faces the hotel inner space, so it's impossible to open them. I am so sorry , that you and your partner had to face the problem with HVAC system, which of course is not an every-day issue. It would be a pleasure to host you again and to show that the problem with HVAC is successfully solved. Hope to see you soon! Kind regards, Klinta Eglite, Administration.

My husband and I stayed in the Bonaparte suite for our long weekend here, it’s a beautiful hotel, the reception staff were always hospitable and the room is magnificent! Very grand and huge, nice lighting and pretty view of the square. Breakfast was plentiful and with a nice option of something cooked from the menu in addition to the cold buffet selection.
The city itself is great fun with very friendly helpful people. Do install the Bolt app and use for Taxis as it’s just €12.50 ( Jan ‘23 ) from the airport.
On Saturday night we could hear the vague noise of partying outside but honestly nothing to keep us awake, I’m just putting that here for reassurance because I’ve seen several other reviews with this complaint.
Overall I’d say GO GO GO! Beautiful luxurious hotel and such a treat to stay there! Thankyou for a fantastic weekend!

Why does the hotel not have any star ratings? It looks really good and easily a 5 stars hotel
Riga, Latvia6 contributions1 helpful vote
Dear Itay, We decided not to go for star rating as we are a small boutique hotel offering an individual service and experience to each guest. As we do not have restaurant and spa we would not become a five star hotel. So we decided not to acquire star rating, but rather concentrate on an exquisite service and nice design.
