The Lindisfarne Inn garners praise for its ideal location near Holy Island and Northumberland's attractions, along with its commendations for cleanliness and a cozy atmosphere. While the majority of guests enjoy comfortable, clean rooms and appreciate the dog-friendly policy, some have expressed concerns over room temperature and noise, particularly when windows are open.
The service is often described as friendly, but dining experiences can be hit-or-miss. Although the inn's value is questioned due to the meal pricing, the overall amenities receive positive feedback.

Detailed Reviews
This Inn is ideally situated on the side of the A1 for visiting parts of North Northumberland, and right on the turning for Holy Island.
The food and staff are very good, and the room we had also very good, with only a couple of niggles stopping it being excellent. These were just shelves rather than drawers in the room, and no heating in bathroom and no towel rail.
Their special offer for March was very good value, and enabled us to visit the National Trust at Lindisfarne Castle.

At first sight we were a little concerned as the inn is located on the A1, however we found that the accommodation at the rear of the inn was completely sound-proofed and extremely comfortable. During lockdown all rooms and en-suites had been fully refurbished to an exceptionally high standard. Great choice of food on the menu and all the staff were so very friendly and helpful that we left with regret after our 5 day stay.

As a first hotel visit since lockdown this was a good choice. They had setup one way routes, the restaurant has screens, the staff wore masks. All perfect. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was ok, not great. The room was clean and comfortable. It is in a great location for holy island

Initial thoughts were good, member of staff on reception was helpful and welcoming, social distancing measures were good, that's about as good as it gets. Food left a lot to be desired considering the price. Wife had chicken which was undercooked, we sent this back, initially it was dealt with discreetly, however, a member of staff came back and challenged my complaint in front of other guests, stating that the pink chicken was due to sinew. The member of staff was condacending stating that he and 2 chefs had checked and it was fine, but then added that, if we felt the need for medical attention this was our right. We made no issue and thanked him for his input, however, the chicken was taken off the bill and we were offered 2 free drinks.
Breakfast was poor, we got the feeling we were being ostracized for complaining, other people were told to pick from the cold section,(cereal etc). We were told to sit and then given the cooked menu and left. I opted for the full cooked full breakfast, poached egg was undercooked and black pudding was burnt to a crisp, we also asked for more tea, safe to say this didn't turn up, the member of staff we asked was stood behind the bar and that's about as far as they got.
Room wise, for what we paid, was basic, also, glasses in the bathroom were dirty, one had dried toothpaste still stuck in the bottom, 2 twin beds stuck together rather than a king-size. Traffic noise was an issue as our room was right at the end, (23), we had very little sleep, extractor fan was also an issue as it kept starting up roughly every 20 minutes throughout the night. Didn't live up to the expectation of £144 per night. After discussion, we both agreed to cut our losses and not stay the second night.

+1
We stayed here for one night when visiting Holy Island and Bamburgh. We arrived at 3pm and after a short wait were checked in by the friendly staff. Our room was on the ground floor looking onto the kitchen at the back of the Inn, so no view as such and a bit dark, I suspect the rooms on the upper level are a bit brighter and a better view. the room was small with the sofa bed in use but for one night this was not too much of a problem. The main bed was huge and very comfy and the bathroom was small but looked like new with a lovely shower and toiletries provided. There was also a good supply of Ringtons tea/coffee and some biscuits. I slept pretty well until the traffic from the main A1 got a bit noisy in the morning.
We had an evening meal there, I enjoyed my soup with a big chunk of bread however my husband wasn't so keen on his burger in toasted bread (maybe they had run out of brioche buns) and both of my son's choices for meal and dessert were not available. The small fish and chips that he did have was huge for a kids meal and tasty. Breakfast was included in the room rate, you could help yourself to toast, cereals and porrige pots, maybe some croissants or pastries would be nice though. Other options were ordered off the menu with portions being a good size. I asked for a small portion of scrambled egg on toast but was still quite large and couldn't eat all the scrambled egg as it was very creamy. In all this is a fairly decent place to stay as a base for a short visit.

Excellent base to explore Northumberland coast and surrounding area - central for Alnwick, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Kielder and beyond. Reasonably priced for the area and the services on your doorstep. This was our second stay and, as before, received a warm welcome. Hotel is well organised and service is efficient; in fact, staff are first class.
Menu is varied and quality/quantity of food good. Breakfast is table service now (thanks COVID) but that wasn't a problem.
Hotel itself is immaculate and the bedrooms and bathrooms well laid out and appointed - shower pressure was insanely good, felt like I'd enjoyed an exfoliating spa!
My only complaint... the mattress and pillows. I'm a fan of a firm mattress but after two nights all five members of our group agreed they needed the services of an osteopath. SO uncomfortable and the pillows spent the night arguing with my neck - they won. Maybe supply a range of pillows (soft to hard) as other chains do?

Stayed two nights and staff were helpful and friendly.
Room was very clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. The two seat sofa was a nice touch and plenty of tea and coffee plus some nice biscuits.
Sadly the down side is that the windows and door are not very sound proof and as the lower rooms are close to the car park and the restaurants storage room generated a lot of noise.
Plus on the first night they had service engineers in doing maintenance work after the pub and restaurant closed and made a lot of noise throughout the night causing disturbed sleep. It would have been nice if they had warned us upon arrival and offered an apology.
Breakfast was not that good as the bacon was pre cooked and kept warm in a pan that dried it out to make bacon jerky! Sausage was also pre cooked and was cold and anemic and not very nice. The poached egg was like a cold boiled egg hard and cold. Table next to us had the kipper which looked way over grilled. Overall disappointing breakfast.
We did eat in the restaurant on both nights and chicken linguine on the fist night was very good, on the second night had the chicken with bacon and cheese (more commonly known as Hunters chicken) and the bacon was only just cooked and the chicken was over cooked. Prices were on average were just under £15 for each option and seemed a bit over priced for what was just mediocre pub food.
Biggest plus was the location as only 15 minutes to holy island and the same to Berwick upon Tweed

Let me first start by saying that myself and my partner totally understand that in the current climate, staff in establishments such as these are under immense pressure and challenging times to deliver hospitality.
We had passed this inn a couple of times during our recent stay in Belford and after a trip to holy island we decided to stop here for some lunch.
After initially waiting a few minutes my partner went up to the bar to order drinks to be curtly told that all orders would be taken at the table (despite posters and signs on tables to the contrary) but ok no problem.
Happy to wait. It was then another 10-15 mins after which I had to call out to a member of staff to come to take our order.
There was no interaction. Eye contact etc (dont get me wrong but I dont expect a new friend request on FB or anything but a little warmth. Attention. Etc).
So order begrudgingly taken. We sat and waited, and waited and waited. After 40 minutes our chicken sandwiches appeared.
They were supposed to be char grilled but were like the sort of meat you get in the cooked meat pre packed section in a supermarket. And three tiny pieces on each half of the seeded baquette. We had ordered a bowl of chips to share as well which a friendlier staff member brought after a few more minutes and admitted she had thought she had brought them already??
Why 40mins wait for a cold chicken sandwich? It was not nice at all I'm sorry to say and NOT worth the wait.
The inn was by no means full but granted there appeared to be a few meals going out. But that being said there seemed to be plenty of staff on.
The one way system didn't apply to some of the staff (although maybe this is optional) I genuinely dont know.
So as someone who loves to leave good reviews for places it is not often I leave a negative review. I'd rather just chalk it up to bad luck and just somewhere I wouldn't go back to.
However I really had such a bad experience overall here I needed to voice it in a review. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe there was new staff. But the waiting time, the food , the staff attitude. We genuinely felt like we were invisible and not one bit welcome.

We have just stayed for two nights and found the room to be more like a motel and very stuffy with a strange smell, very poor ventilation. the room was clean. The meals are adequate but nothing special and the flies in the dining room were a big nuisance. Basically the hotel is overpriced for what you get. Queuing to order drinks and for each course at mealtimes is not good especially when they are short staffed. We were placed on a tiny table to eat when larger tables were available. We wouldn't recommend staying here

My husband booked this thinking it was in Berwick (not the hotel's fault!), so we were very disappointed to find it was stuck beside the A1 in the middle of nowhere! Views from the restaurant are of the busy road or the car park. Accommodation is in a separate annex and our room was accessed by an outside staircase. Not good if it's raining, especially with the one way covid system which meant access to the hotel was outside and all around the building to the front door. Housekeeping was to a high standard. The staff were friendly and welcoming and service was quick. I did get a cold breakfast one day and the bacon was often cooked until it was hard, and we were never given side plates or knives for the toast. Main meals were OK but almost everything came with chips and no fresh veg. We had paid for the accommodation on arrival but at the end of our stay when we asked for the bill for the three meals we had had we were charged over £500! they had no record of our earlier payment and my husband had to show the payment on his bank account. This hotel is best for a one night stay on route to somewhere else.

Not vital but it seems to be often busy so I would suggest it.
We're sorry but we're not able to do laundry. There is a launderette at nearby Berwick upon Tweed however?
Yes they do Carole! As well as tea and coffee making facilities and colour TV! Any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask! We hope to welcome you.
