We stayed in a Family Room that was in the Crystal Annex for 3 nights. It was wonderful for our needs with more than enough room for the 4 of us (my brother, a teen and a preteen with me). We each had a bed...More

This hotel is located at the only main street in Lauterbrunnen, near the train station, supermarket, restaurants, waterfall, etc. (the village is really small). They don't have an elevator, but the stairs are not that bad. The staff is great, and will help you with...More

This is a very nice family-run hotel, very simple but cozy and friendly. The room was big and clean; beds, pillows and duvets very comfortable. The bathroom was good, with some basic amenities and a very nice shower. Breakfast was very good: the coffee was...More

Arrived by train within a five minute uphill walk to this hotel. We were warmly greeted by the staff and immediately shown to our room, a spacious corner room on the second floor. It was large enough to accommodate us and two other adults had...More

I'm on something of a 'nostalgic mission' trying to identify where I once stayed in Lauterbrunnen many years ago and believe that this Hotel may have previously been called 'Hotel Pension' or something similar. I was then 14 and on a school trip (May 1959). I did return again independently in Sept 1966 to find it largely unchanged . My recall was that the interiors were then nearly all finished in dark stained natural pine and the decor was very 'Swiss Chalet'. I stayed in the topmost room, built high under the eaves overlooking the main street with direct views across the valley. I have vivid memories of the cattle being driven twice daily along the main street and the inhabitants cleaning the paths and road afterwards. The Church clock could be heard striking the hours and was visible to the right from our room. Google map doesn't really help as Lauterbrunnen has developed so much since the times. The railway station was relatively closely. I've decided I'll go back to stay there again, nearly 59years on, but first want to be sure I've got the right venue. Can any longtime traveller help, who may recall this Hotel's earlier name original name?

We are in the centre of the village and don't really hear the church bells from here. The place I think you might mean is the Staubbach hotel. We would be happy to have you stay with us though if you decide to.

The village of Lauterbrunnen does not provide free travel cards like for instance Interlaken. In winter the ski bus is free though that travels up and down the valley to Stechelberg. Included in your stay is a local... More
