After a couple of weeks we had to get used to the plunger, the hosts in Akaroa supprised us with a great flat white out of their own machine. But the coffee is just one point here - the B&B is very lovely and according to all the visitors one of the most photographed houses in Akaroa. Our hosts were...

We felt very much at home in this pretty old house. The owners were very relaxed and welcoming. Our room was in the attic and we got used to ducking to save our heads but we were pleased to have a pleasant ensuite bathroom. With no Sky in the room, wifi provided an update on news coverage thank goodness. Breakfast...

Absolutely gorgeous cottage - original surgeon's cottage in a very picturesque setting. Our room was in the attic and it was very charming. The hostess served us the most exquisite breakfast. She baked her own croissants and served her own home made preserves. The table was laid as if we were royalty with a linen napkin with a fresh flower....

This is a beautiful old house, with a lovely garden (and grapes growing on the vines). Well-located, very convenient to the jetty and restaurants. Comfortable room (we were in the groundfloor room), but a tad small - especially as we had a rollaway bed added for our kid and that left not much space at all. Having said that, the...

My wife and I stayed in Akaroa for one night on a 2 week jaunt around the South island of NZ and I am writing this after having returned, and therefore having experienced many other B+Bs in NZ. We arrived at midday in Akaroa, and went straight onto a dolphin cruise, and therefore checked in at about 3.30pm when we...

This was the last accommodation of our 30 day visit to NZ, the only accommodation that we did not pre-book. We arrived around 5.30pm in Akaroa looking for somewhere nice and somewhere not too expensive for a couple of nights. In essence we found it in La Belle Villa. I don't think I can add anything different to the other...

This is a small B&B in a beautiful old building on the southern side of the village. The location is extremely convenient for the wharf and several restaurants, and only a few minutes walk from more shops and restaurants in the French Quarter. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, and the room was immaculately turned out. Note that breakfast...

We really hit lucky finding this wonderful B & B. We decided to go to Akaroa at the end of our holiday and had no chance to look at reviews so took pot luck. What luck we had chancing upon this place. The property is a beautiful historical residence built and furnished in a very British manner. We had an...

A beautiful historic house which we felt very fortunate to be able to enjoy, considering there were a number of other historic buildings in Akaroa which were closed because of quake damage. Alice was very helpful and friendly, and made an excellent breakfast. It was really warm the day we stayed, and we did find it a little bit difficult...

The La Belle Villa was a wonderful place to stay. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and neat. The breakfasts were excellent and the host was very helpful.

“Attic room we had was good for people of the shorter end of the height spectrum!”

“The property is on the main road leading south from Akaroa, so if you are noise sensitive you might prefer a room facing away from the road. (There wasn't very much traffic; it's not busy.)”
