Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very well presented bedrooms. Hosts Nikki and Gary were fabulous and assisted with everything we needed. This hostel is very clean and proudly maintained to a high standard with crisp sheets, comfy pillows and fluffy towels. Communal kitchen is well equipped for cooking your breakfast or dinner.

Great experience! We stayed two nights in the caravan. Very clean and tidy. The shared facilities are really good. Spa, games, books, TV, gym, etc.. Bathrooms are spacious and perfectly clean. The staff is really nice and the cat too. I recommend staying there.

The motto Rest in Peace is true! The backpacker section is away from the motel/b&b part. We had great nights sleep every night. The owners and so friendly and helpful to their guests. The scones evey morning are so light and fluffy. The shared kitchen and TV lounge is very homely. Use of the spa pool is great. Really relaxing. The guests were all very quiet at night. Met some lovely overseas visitors of all ages.

I booked for 1 night and ended up staying 3 night. Top notch accommodation in one of their queen ensuite rooms - comfy bed with beautiful linen, an ever changing view of the harbour from my deck and everything was spotlessly clean. Hosts Barry and Nikki were very knowledgeable about Picton, transport and events; and very friendly too. Clean shared kitchen with huge fridges to store food. Free delicious home-made scones with butter and jam to boot. I liked the cats and a small dog that hung around - it all made Tombstone a very homely stay.

Unbelievable. Yes Picton does have cockroach's as do other towns of New Zealand and the world, we are sorry for this rare incident but we certainly do not have them to any extreme that you have mentioned throughout our establishment. The cats are not strays they are pets of the Lodge and well looked after.

The best spot to stay in Picton- we have stayed here several times, great view of the harbour, after a big day travelling you can sit in the spa pool which has a view of the bay. Kitchen facilities are good, the owners provide home made scones cereal and toast for breakfast. An altogether amazing facility, wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else, for comfort and value

We loved our stay of 3 nights at Tombstone Lodge. It was exceptional value with breakfast included. There were cosy places to sit, an outdoor spa, and books and board games. Gary and Nikki were fabulous friendly hosts. We even got a complementary lift to the ferry when we left.
