Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel was overall nice enough. The view of the harbour was pretty. I drove there and had parked my car in their small carpark. There's no air conditioning and it was warm when I was there, but it was tolerable. My main complaint was the wifi. I would never describe it as high speed. Most often, it was 1-2 mbps, which is almost so slow as not to work. Yes, I rebooted my devices and yes I signed out of their wifi and back in again. Once it a while the speed would surge to 70 mbps, but not for long. When I asked about it at the main desk, it was as if no one had ever complained before. The main desk didn't open until 10:00 a.m., which is unusual to me, especially for a hotel of this size. I probably wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel is getting a bit tired considering the price of $320 p/n and no breakfast but the nite meal would have to be the best restaurant in the whole of marlborough . The food was as good as u get , large portions ,congratulations to your chef Tony tansey

Good hotel in the heart of Picton, New Zealand on the south island. Hotel is right by the waterfront and you can see the cruise ships come in. Dinner was ok at the hotel; breakfast was better. I'd stay here again.

The reception staff were not welcoming. When we arrived at reception, neither of them looked up, even though it was obvious we were waiting. We were also told the restaurant was full (it was actually next door to us so we could see that there were very few people in it all evening). Furniture seen better days, table was badly marked.

Stayed here for just one night. As it was Sunday the restaurant was closed so we had to venture out in the wind and rain to find some food. Room itself was comfortable and quite large. Hotel is situated on the waterfront beside the yacht club and has some lovely views. It’s only a short walk into to main part of Picton. Be aware if you arrive by train, Picton doesn’t have a taxi service. You will need to source a shuttle if you aren’t within walking distance of the station or ferry terminal. Also the ferry terminal is undergoing a major refurbishment and they have a new temporary terminal and you catch a bus to the ship thru the worksite.

Just one night sleep for the next day catching the interisland ferry. Cheap and nice rooms with first class basics! Dated but nice refreshing to see really clean and wholesome service and amenities. Went to house restaurant and wonderful menu was available one of the best choice around. Something for everyone. The food was so good best orange Ruffy meal in years !!! Very generous servings!! Price was good as well.

I loved my stay at the cute Picton Beachcomber Inn where every room has an outdoor patio with a harbor view. This is a great place to relax, enjoy the view with some snacks and drinks and check out the bunnies that crossed their lawn. The room was huge and had a fridge, kettle, walled toiletries, desk and chair and several lounge chairs. The only thing that I would remove from the room was a square table in between the beds what didn’t serve any purpose other than decoration. There is a small pool on the property that I didn't use during my stay. The hotel restaurant is on the 3rd floor which offered a great view of the harbor and town. This hotel offered one of the best dinners that was included in our tour. They had the most tender roast beef, a very flavorful fish dish and 4 types of veggies. Their coco puffs & chocolate square cake were delicious.

After having issues with another property we had booked, we booked the Beachcomber on short notice. The location is very convenient after coming in off the ferry and for walking around the corner for restaurants. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the property was closed when we were there due to illness. Room was clean and served our purpose.

n all reality, does anyone come to Picton other than to get on/off the ferry? However, this is a lovely little town, with plenty of eateries. Our room faced the harbour and was quiet and comfortable. Beds/Pillows are always subjective, but we found the mattress supportive. Very modern bathroom sinks and colossally deep - handy for bathing a baby/small toddler! We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, but there was a varied menu.
