Great place—pool was the perfect late afternoon retreat on DC’s hottest day. Incredible staff and very comfortable rooms. Linens were squeaky clean. Full gym included free weights, spin bike, weight and cardio machines with enough space for yoga/stretching . Great farmers market a block away on Sunday mornings Good vibes at Royal Sonesta DuPont Circle.

It is a very decent hotel at a good location. This hotel is near bars and restaurants and parking is not difficult during the weekend. The white house is about 7 minute drive from the hotel. I feel like it was over price for the service we received and the pool was closed and all the restaurants in the hotel due to covid. Rooms were decent, but they only put one toilet paper for a group of four and only one small hand soap which we had to call front desk to bring us more toilet paper and hand soap.

Update:We have just been emailed that we spent $166 on minibar - this is not true. I am very displeased by how unprofessional the hotel is. First at the front desk they tell us their are charges for using their restaurant and then when we dispute these charges they are telling us that we used the minibar. We did neither and seems like something fishy. We will continue to dispute this charge.

**

We arrived late on Dec 27 during a family visit to DC for the holidays. The room itself is nice but there is a daily $26 resort fee. Um - includes wifi only but no coffee, no free water. Bottled water costs $6.

We paid $57 and change for a two nights stay but then charged an additional $166 on our card. The front desk told us that there was restaurant charge but we told him that wasn't true. He took it off -they should be checking the room key card before allowing room charges.

Hello Traveler9999192 please accept my apologies for the confusion regarding the daily guest amenity fee of $25 +tax. For your reference the fee includes upgraded WiFi services, complimentary local and long distance calls, and complimentary transportation in the morning/evening within a 1 mile radius from the hotel. Please contact me directly if the matter regarding the minibar charges have not yet been resolved.

I have so many complaints about staying at this hotel since checking in on Feb 26th at 430PM.

#1. I would recommend since there were minimal hotel guest staying at this hotel, to at the very minimum inform a guest that you have to request a coffee maker and microwave during your stay, its not information they readily provide you unless you ask, that's unacceptable.

#2 Provide basic customer service in term,s of having hotel staff ask if room service is needed, I purpously did not leave the do not disturb sign on my door to see if staff would ask if i needed a room refresh since I stayed two days

#3 The night manager on the 26th asked if I was informed of the complimentary bottle of wine, I told her no, while she did offer it, I asked why didn't the staff that check me offer this?

# Hotel states that there is valet service, when I asked at check it, they staff stated that there is no valet available and that I would have to find my own parking somewhere

# The hotel on their website and booking .com states that their is a restaurant and bar; however, on the evening of Feb 26th, I called the front desk to ask what time the restaurants would close, i was then notified that the restaurant is closed, I asked when will it reopen, the front desk staff stated that it was indefinitely closed. I asked wouldn't that have been information that you could have provided at check in? At least provided a list of local eateries that deliver to the hotel

100s of hotels and I decided the choose a hotel with staff that have minimal customer service skills, with the exception of the night manager and the front desk staff on the day of check out who at least made an effort to accommodate me during my stay.
#5 The hotel charges you for a resort fee at $60 when there are zero amenities provided (ieie hot tub, pool, restaurant and bar, etc)

#6. Since you niether offer coffee (unless you ask for a coffee maker, and staff should expect you to need one and no expect you to ask for it) at least offer vending machines or snacks at purchase either on the floors or reception lobby desk, they do neither of these things, make a conscious effort to try and make accommodations for your guests needs.

I would never stay nor recommend anyone i know to stay at this hotel, COVID on No COVID restrictions, over prices, staff unwilling to be hospitable and attempt to at least want to do the basic things.

I stayed here with my beau for one night. He drove up from the south, and I came down from the north. I got there much earlier than him so I was on my own for a while. It's in a great walkable area with restaurants and shops. I went to a cute spa and got the works. I saw what I think was 4 shifts. Every employee from housekeeping to the front desk was so knowledgeable and helpful. They were professional and really went above and beyond. They accommodated early check in and late checkout :). They have a happy hour dining. The room was immaculate. It was comfortable. Would absolutely recommend and would stay again.

Cons: my TV guide stopped working, wifi was slow, and valet is so expensive. To valet 2 cars we paid 150 bucks with the taxes and fees. It's expensive but it's convenient and I expect to pay a lot in DC and NY for parking. If they didn't have the service and we had to find parking, we would have been spending the night in the cars. So maybe this is more of a "be prepared for" rather than a con.

The service is laughably bad. One evening, we pressed the “concierge” button on the in-room phone and asked the person who answered about any events going on and the answer received was, “I wouldn’t know better than a google search.” The next day my wife walked into the hotel’s restaurant to ask if they’d break up a $10 bill so she can tip the bell hop, the guy literally said, “No, I cannot” as he walked away from her. The bell hops we interacted with were helpful.
We were in a room with a King bed on the 8th floor. The room was supplied with the worst single-ply toilet paper, closet doors that swing outward into the room despite insufficient space for that design, and the thin flat hand soap gets completely stuck to the light-weight flat soap dish once the soap is used once. The shower hardware all sucks—thin streams come out of the shower head and the handle was close to broken.

My fiance (now husband!) and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta in DC for 2 nights for our wedding with our dog. We worked with Allie R. who was amazing at coordinating everything and made sure everything went smoothly. We stayed in a King Executive Studio Suite and were amazed by the large size of the room was and the gorgeous views we had of the city! The hotel room was spacious, exceptionally clean and they even included thoughtful touches for our dog such as a fluffy dog bed and 2 large bowls for food and water. In addition, all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions or needed anything. The location is also superb - it is located on a very cute street with lots of bars and restaurants and in the heart of Dupont Circle. We can't wait to stay at the Royal Sonesta again!

Excellent accommodations and service but I will never stay again because of extra daily charge for things that are normally included or of no use to me. The extra $25 plus tax covered coffee in the lobby. That was only available until 10:00 a.m. It included wine in the early evening when I was never in the hotel. I do love that they have dispensers for soaps and conditioners instead of the tiny little waste of plastic, impossible to empty bottles.

I was refused service because my credit card did not have a chip in it. I made my reservation on their website where I had to enter in my credit card and used the EXACT same credit card when checking in. They said that was their policy that all
Credit cards must have chips even though this was never communicated at check out. I called the customer service number and they were surprised by this as they have never heard of this policy. If there is a policy as to what types of credit cards can be used it should be clearly noted on your website especially at check out. There was no such thing. This was going to be my first time staying at this hotel and as a result of their refusal of service I will never stay here and will tell everyone else to not stay here. I usually stay at Marriott where I am a Platihum Elite member so went over to the W where they happily checked my in with my credit card with no chip.
