Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A quiet refuge in the nation's capitol. Accommodations and service are world-class. The feel is amazingly comfortable and private. This was my third stay and I now consider The Jefferson my home base in DC.

Hotel's Favourite
Everyone who worked at the Jefferson was so polite and helpful. Been a while since we have had really nice service. The valets took care of charging our car and our room was beautiful. No complaints. The location was great for us for a visit with our son who lives near by. Close to restaurants and beautiful, brownstone lines streets.

One of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had! We booked a premier king, and it was perfect. At check-in they provided some upgrade options to consider if we found it too small, but I thought it was fairly large for a king room and the bathroom and closet were both very spacious. Everything in the room was absolutely spotless and in wonderful condition. The shower and water pressure were fantastic, and the towels, robes, slippers, and toiletries all very nice. The tv in the bathroom mirror is fun to have as an option while getting ready. There are convenient outlets with usb ports on each side of the bed. The lighting is lovely, and there are even reading lights with a dimmer switch. Blackout curtains worked great, and the room was very quiet. Nice buttons inside the room to notify when you are in the room or ready for housekeeping. There is an iPad for requests (we did not try this out). Turndown service was provided nightly with chocolates and fresh bottles of water which was quite nice when we came back after dinner. We had dinner and drinks at Quill the first night since our flight arrived late, and the food, cocktails, and service were excellent. We had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and had a little room all to ourselves and could hear the rain falling on the greenhouse roof. It was very nice! I also appreciated the coffee/tea available in the library and wish I had more time to relax there. There are great options nearby for dinner as well. The staff at the hotel were all so friendly and welcoming from the moment that we arrived to when we checked out. We can’t wait to come back again!

Named after Thomas Jefferson, fits in close proximity to the White House and is rich in historical detail and Jeffersonian influences, why that's the Jefferson hotel. Greenhouse is an all daypart restaurant offering seasonal menus ......and where I enjoyed a Grass Fed Roast Lamb item here. while the Quill is a bar hotspot for cocktail zealots. My Deluxe Suite was appreciated with it's Jeffersonian design touches and spacious footprint. The separate parlor, fanciful sofa, exquisite desk, well-crafted furniture, eclectic antiques all contributed to a cozy environment. The bath is a gem: a double vanity, captivating TV mirror and a huge walk-in shower. Other hotel perks include: high end spa, luxurious library lounge, fitness center on-site as well as free access to the well equipped athletic facilities (included heated pool) at the nearby University Club. Staff was professional and always in waiting. So. if you are a legacy buff looking for a contemporary hotel that offers just that......... ..........then try the..............The Jefferson Washington DC...........history, awesome rooms and great service.

A super hotel. Elegantly decorated. Very comfortable bed. A nice gym. A truly excellent breakfast. Above all the best service from every member of staff. If you want modernist decor then perhaps look elsewhere but this is one of my favourite hotels when traveling in the US.

The hotel itself was great, as was the location…but it’s the staff that makes it special! This stay was my first there and it was for business. The group with which I was working all had a great experience. We enjoyed the several meals we had there. I will be back both for business and leisure travel!

Great staff, great room, clean. Food was outstanding. Bar has excellent wine list. Location worked well for us. My wife and I felt safe the entire time. The staff was honestly exceptional- our only regret was we had to change hotels.

A very nice luxury hotel in Washington DC. The key highlight being the amazing location. Apart from that, the hotel is confortable and has a nice typical design. Breakfast is great. Only downside of the hotel is that there’s no spa and swimming pool :-(

My new favorite hotel - elegant, low-key and welcoming. the staff is attentive and pleasant. The room is clean, well-designed, and nicely appointed. The shower is the tops, with amazing water pressure. As good as everything is at this hotel, perhaps the best aspect is housekeeping - they seem to come as soon as you leave your room, they do such a nice job, and leave you with a new bottle of water, a calming chocolate, and slippers.
