My family has been camping at Schooners for over 20 years and were friends with the old owner "Art" who built the place out of an old trash dump into the beautiful place it is today. We returned to new ownership and encountered an absolute nut-case of a woman who ranted about restoring "her river" and demanded to give each...

Been going here for over 20 years and it has been great. The new owner has ruined it. We now enjoy our camping adventures at places where you are not constantly bothered by the owner. If you want to enjoy yourself, camp somewhere else until she is gone. The prices continue to increase. They charge by the campsite then tag...

Off the beaten track, on the Albion River where it curves and there's an island in the middle of it. A stunning location...especially when the tide is low. If you have a boat, take it up the river and see the tiny houses built on the river. A short walk to the mouth of the river and the ocean. Bath...

I had planned to go to one of my favorite places to camp in August with a friend. When I called to make a reservation, I found out it was under new ownership. When I asked certain questions, the new owner kept saying "I'm here for the river". And then she began to talk about rules, on my last trip...

This was our maiden voyage with our first RV. (28.5ft) Getting down/up the road to Schooner's was a little daunting the first time. But was very DOable by rookies like us. We had a person with a walkie-talkie on the opposite end each time so we didn't come "nose to nose" with another fifth wheel hauler. We didn't. No Problem....

I found Schooner's Landing last year by accident. I spent 4 days with my new 19' travel trailer in May 2013 and then again in October 2013. At the time it was only my third trip out with it. I was able to get it in with no problems (a couple camped next to me with a 34' rig and...

The entrance road to Schooners Landing is short but steep with tight turns and while it was not a problem you should take it with care. The sites were level side to side but slightly sloping towards the river. Had a ball watching the seals play. No cell signal but wifi is close. No ticks! You are protected from the...

This was sadly a two star review. We decided to try a new place to take our 32' Vista with our three kids and our dog. We found Schooner's landing on a web search and decided to give it a try. There are actually two RV parks in the area. One is nearer to the ocean and looks like a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Visit a hidden paradise on the coast, just 10 minutes south of Mendocino village. Each of our campsites is at the edge of the Albion river, offering an unparalleled experience of observing wildlife up close. Seals, sea lions, herons and egrets abound. At low tide, watch the wading birds feed on crabs and eelgrass. At high tide, schools of herring might pass under your kayak. Explore the ocean at the Albion Cove, or paddle upriver. We are beginning an extensive restoration project, inviting the native vegetation and creatures back into our site. Watch the transformation, as human impact is minimized and the river allowed to shape the place. This is a wild place. We are all guests of the River ... more   less
