Hotel Mountain Chalet in Aspen is simply a SCAM. The worst Hotel I have ever been to in half the world and a real DECEPTION. The photos do not correspond to a Hotel in a total state of abandonment, dirty, broken and decrepit and.... of course, exorbitant prices. The Hotel Management's excuse: "this is Aspen..." "maybe they are in the wrong place..." "other Guests don't say the same thing...". Some real cheeks. It shows that they are used to complaints like ours and everything slips away from them, bordering on the most hypocritical cynicism I have ever seen. Other Clients DO say the same thing about their Hotel, another thing is that they spend time like me in REPORTING IT and therefore they are listened to. Management of the Mountain Chalet Hotel in Aspen, you know that you are deceiving your Clients and you are ashamed of not recognizing it. $1,000 a night for an Apartment or $900 for a tiny double room in a dirty, broken Hotel, with outlets that don't work, with heating that doesn't go above 67º Fahrenheit in the middle of winter, cables hanging from the TV, TV that doesn't It works, a car park that looks like a junkyard and a breakfast that looks like dog food, you should be SHAME ON THEM. Furthermore, we made a reservation for 2 nights in an Apartment and we had to change to a room the next day because according to the Hotel "the reservation system had not detected that the apartment was not available two days in a row." In the computer age and they come with cheap excuses. Gentlemen, you moved us because there were 2 of us in an apartment and we had a better option from subway to a family in the Apartment. Shame on them to move people like sheep in their decrepit Hotel. The Mountain Chalet in Aspen should undergo HEALTH INSPECTIONS, due to its deplorable state, deterioration and its junk food. IMPORTANT: It is a Hotel where there may be an accident and I leave a written record so that the competent Authorities can take action on the matter. Mountain Chalet in Aspen are scammers and we proceed to send a copy of this CLAIM to the Attention of Mrs. Sarah Reynolds Lasser of the ASPEN CHAMBER RESORT ASSOCIATION. We hope that the Authorities impose a good fine and close the Hotel.

Honestly, the service left a lot to be desired. I don’t care that the place is a million years old and well established - it doesn’t give them a pass to be rude and unwelcoming. Hard pass, will not be coming back or recommending to anyone I know. Only giving it 2 stars because of its great location.

I am absolutely in love the Mountain Chalet! The front desk folks are so nice and down to earth. They were also very kind and welcoming with my 2 poodles! The hotel is so adorable and quaint. It has lovely vintage vibes that give the nostalgia of a loving grandparent’s home. While visiting this past weekend, my friend and I added on 2 more days because we were in love. And the prices are phenomenal for the location and accommodations! The pool and hot tub are clean Breakfast is delish!!! There are different features each day and I was amazed all of that yumminess was actually included in the room rate! We had eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes. The fresh fruit was ripe and perfect. Also available are cereals and bagels and toast, orange juice and coffee. During the afternoons fresh cookies are served in the lobby with coffee! I mean I could go on and on. I’m so sad they will be closing for remodel soon. Go visit now while you can!

We spent a week at this hotel. It is a charmingly funky place where the common areas are a bit worn, but the rooms are appealing. The staff is exceptionally good. There is a morning breakfast offered with the room which is tasty. Cookies are available in the lobby every day homemade. You are right in the middle of Aspen, so the location is great. New ownership is in place and there is a plan to convert this property on March 31st 2024 to a higher-end property. Until then it remains one of the few affordable places in central Aspen.

The culture is totally friendly and helpful and open hearted . A real treat! Snacks and drinks available, big breakfast. Staff best of any place I’ve ever been. Not fancy but has everything you need, pool, hot tub, gym, very functional and often large rooms although once I stayed in a smaller room. Right by the buses to the lifts, on the main drag with other hotels and restaurants

We ended up at The Mountain Chalet rather by chance, because it was recommended to us by the concierge of an adjacent hotel. As walk-ins and in the off-season, we were able to negotiate a special rate with the young man at the front desk for one of the two apartments available in the chalet. The apartment had a large living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bedroom with a king-size bed. The bathroom had a cosmetic mirror and the shower provided hot water at high water pressure. The vanity was set into a counter-top of fancy black pearl granite. There were countless light fixtures and even more outlets for all the digital devices travelers nowadays carry and need to charge. Everything worked, the kettle and the huge refrigerator, even the giant television, although its remote control turned on only one program. It was cozy and warm in the apartment, although we never figured out how it was heated. It is true that The Chalet has seen better days, that the furniture and carpeting are a bit outdated, but you can get homemade cookies in the lobby and stock up on teas of all kinds or fix coffee with the Nespresso coffee maker. Everything was available, almost everything was clean and in place. There is a heated pool with a pretty pool area. The Mexican kitchen crew serves a uniquely delicious breakfast. Guests can make their own orange juice with a magic squeezer and can choose between soft croissants, delicious Danish, different kinds of bread and toast or dairy products. The dining room staff is very efficient and polite, as is the front desk. The location is perfect for accessing ski lifts, shuttle buses, or the charming downtown area. In my research, I found out that The Mountain Chalet was sold to a Texan investor in May 2022. I'm curious to see what he will do to this historic 1954 landmark and hope he will preserve the traditional Lüftl paintings on the exterior walls and the extraordinary hand-painted interior walls.

The Mountain Chalet has been hosting friends of John Denver gathering for the past 25 years. It’s been perfect for this giant group of people and it holds special memories for many many people. We truly hope the tradition can continue. Fondly, DeeDee Brown

Total dump, rude staff that smiles with an F U behind it. Stay far away. Place is filthy. They don’t clean properly. Allergies were going nuts anytime we were in the room. Don’t be fooled by location and price. Read deeper reviews. They randomly will charge your card weeks later, have a zero cancellation policy. Don’t gloss over the bad reviews here, it’s a small quaint place and some may like that but don’t get hustled, don’t even book. Once you do it’s done. You’re effed. Zero cancellation or grace period. Craig is nasty and comes with a smug attitude you’ve all had to deal with from a slightly flamboyant dude. Owner just as bad. Lots of appliances didn’t work, stains on furniture, mold, dust, not cleaned properly after pets. List goes on. Be careful, they commit fraud as well.

Had an early flight and the night before arrival was told there was no-one in the room and we could check in early. Upon arrival, it turns out someone had taken the room. All fine, check out at 11, so in theory the room should be available at 12. However, no-one asked the staff to prioritize and when I requested (sitting in the lobby next to my empty room (door open) was informed cleaning services "has to go in order". I've watched them clean 3 on this floor next to the lobby and not the one I'm waiting for. The Manager, a grumpy elderly man didn't apologize, rather insisted check-in be at three and "that's the way it is". Avoid.

Wow, just wow ! This hotel is magical. Me and my girl had the best stay ever at Mountain chalet. This hotel has unique feeling about it that’s hard to put in words. It’s not a new flashy hotel, it’s a heirloom full of history you will grow to like. The bar upstairs is the best place in Aspen to hang out. The free breakfast was really good with freshly squeezed orange juice. It made our stay a lot more convenient and affordable. Mountain chalet not only have the best prices in town, the people that work there make you feel like your right at home.
