To celebrate some significant birthdays, 12 female friends and I embarked on an epic adventure to Half Moon Caye, Lighthouse Reef, Belize with Island Expeditions. Half Moon Caye is the outermost atoll of the Belize Barrier Reef system and lies more ten 50 miles offshore. It is a protected marine area by the Audubon Society and IE has been allowed... More

Guests stay in tents on wooden platforms, right on the beach. When it's windy the tents are noisy, but it's worth it. The island is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. There's a bird sanctuary at one end; you can see nesting boobies and frigate birds from just a few feet away. The snorkelling off the island... More

Island Expeditions really has every detail perfected if you are looking for an active yet relaxing back to nature adventure. The people, the food, the activities, the scenery, and of course the scuba and snorkeling were incredible. Thank you for clearing my head and freeing my mind.

I participated in an eight day trip with Island Expeditions to Half Moon Caye on Lighthouse Reef. This was my second trip with Island Expeditions. I had travelled to Glover's Reef a few years before. Island Expeditions is an amazing organization. They are well-organized and put the experience of their guests above all else. There were 17 people in our... More

This was our first trip to Belize and we went with 8 other friends in their 70s. It was wonderful. It is funny that it comes up as a "resort" as in fact it is 10 high wall tents on a wooden base and good beds inside. One walks to the composting toilet ( clean and efficient) dodging the hermit... Great snorkeling, the reef has so much to see, the guides are great at pointing out sea life. It is like a summer camp! This was my second visit, and it was a great trip. Variety of activities available, dependent upon the weather conditions.

The views from the resort was absolutely fabulous. We took a kayak out one day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - not rushing to anything, No one bothered us unless we needed them. My type of vacation!

My wife and I decided to travel to Mexico and Belize. We where not sure where to go in Belize until we heard about Half Moon Bay. The hotel is not excellent or bad, I will say is regular. But we loved the snorkeling and diving, it was fantastic. And you will be able to find better accomodations in the... More

Half Moon Caye is not for the faint of heart and those expecting to be pampered at a typical all-inclusive resort. But, if you want to spend time away from it all surrounded by people passionate about their country and what it and their culture has to offer than experience Lighthouse Reef. The 2-hour boat ride can be rough but... More

We recently spent 10 days on the cayes of Belize organized by Island Expeditions. The first 3 days were spent at IE's tented basecamp on Half Moon Caye, Lighthouse Reef, then the next 7 days, we toured the Central Cayes around Tobacco Caye in a rental kayak. Lighthouse Reef was a wonderful start to the trip with extremely friendly and... More
