Okay - so I've rewritten this several times, trying to keep it short & to the point, but we honestly loved so much about our time at Pook's Hill, I could go on for days! Location: Perfect for us! Definitely off the beaten path (almost literally), but that allowed us a lovely

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pook’s Hill for 4 nights. The entire staff is excellent and we basically had our own private guide! Miguel was so knowledgeable about the plants, wildlife, birds and history of the area. The evening meal and cocktails with the other guests made

We absolutely adored our thatch roof villa at Pooks. The grounds are lovely and well kept and we especially liked hanging out in the communal lodge at the end of our day where we exchanged stories of our adventures with other guests. They have a well stocked honour system bar

Pooks Hill is a fabulous lodge from which to base yourself if you want to see a number of Mayan sites and combine it with some great active excursions. Whilst we were here we went to Tikal and the ATM cave. If we had an extra night or two we would have had no difficulties adding

At Pooks Hill: Ceiling fans, yes. Air conditioning, no. I think you'll come to appreciate that when the howler monkeys go berserk at 3 a.m. (Hey, it is an experience!) and the night birds and other animals are on the move. It is an aural experience that would be missed with the racket of AC! I can't speak to the Pooks Hill weather in July, although last year in Belize it was very hot and humid in general. The natural insulation of the thatch roof and the ceiling fans should provide comfort enough. Just an aside, in the year we have lived here on Ambergris Caye, we have never used the air conditioning and there have been some exceptionally hot days with still air. Ceiling fans, on the other hand, are never off, it seems.

"Loved the bird cabana! Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting a bit more space and privacy."
"We stayed in hut 1 which was close and wonderful. There were also bird huts which were even more private looking out onto the meadow behind."
"We liked the proximity of cabin 3 to the main lodge."
"Cabanas 1-3 are near the lodge--best for families and those uncomfortable with uneven ground. Other cabanas are closer to birds and monkeys."
"it is a little hilly there in the jungle, so let them know if you have trouble with stairs or hills, and they will do whatever they can."
