I am very pleased to hear about your newfound interest in birding as Belize offers some spectacular sightings. We had a group back in 2017 who counted 112 on property, some of these included the Keel Billed Toucan, Emerald Toucanet, Gray Hawk, Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, Indigo Bunting, Golden-Olive Woodpecker, Red-legged Honeycreeper, amongst many others.
For other tours outside of property, there's great areas to visit such as The Nest of the Crested Caracara, El Pilar and Cahal Pech Maya temples, Aguacate Lagoon, and even some urban birdwatching!
As for the rooms recommended for this type of preference, as mentioned by some of our visitors in this thread, the Suites are a good option as they have a clear view of the rainforest canopy where you can spot Keel Billed Toucans in the early mornings.

I've stayed at San Ignacio resort many times. I prefer the rooms away from the pool area, but you'll pay a bit more. Having said that, all the rooms are really nice and clean. Never had issues.
