We spent 2 nights in the Master Suite that was simply amazing, with a romantic canopy bed and a beautiful bathroom with an open-air shower and a bathtub overlooking the jungle. The pool is perfect to relax after a morning spent visiting the Mayan Ruins. The only missing thing in the room was a torch to use during the blackout time. The food and the cocktails are really good and you can order in-room breakfast. Avoid the sunrise tour if you are not in a good shape because is very tiring.

This was my second stay at the Lodge, however, unlike the previous stay, which was for one brief night, I stayed 5 days on this visit. I should mention that the Jungle Lodge reservation staff, specifically Kimberlin, in Guatemala City, did an outstanding job to arrange my stay, and answer all questions quickly, given my language limitations. I was picked up on time in a private mini bus at Flores airport. The driver was very engaging. I was greeted warmly by the front desk and they even had a bell boy carry my bag to my room! I treated myself to the Jungle Suite which featured 24 hour fan and ceiling light. Right amount of electric for charging. Rear patio with hot tub (which was not working I was advised on arrival), excellent screens on the sliding glass door and bathroom windows for breeze. My king size bed was comfortable. Maid service every day. They gave you two bottled waters every day. No facecloths? Maybe people steal them? The room featured a safe that opens via key, plenty of lighting and comfortable furniture. Once I figured it out, there was enough hot water for a short shower. I did not try the tub which looked beautiful. Piece of advice is bring a battery operated fan for your face. As the travel books have indicated, the food at the Jungle Lodge is outstanding. The service as well. Oh I should mention that everyone was wearing masks and following the rules. Breakfast was included in my rate. All meals had plenty of choices and was reasonably priced. For lunch I ate at some of the comedor's by the parking lot. When you stay at the Lodge you can be first in the park, (not considering the sunrise tour which costs extra and not worth it), at 6:30AM so you can be done by noon or earlier! This leaves plenty of time for the pool and nature watching. The pool is set up for entertaining big groups with it's own bar but being July I had it to myself. The pool was refreshing but my only complaint was one day it did not have any towels and although I was assured someone would bring me some, they never came. I had to walk back and use the bathroom towels, The pool is surrounded by trees so keep an eye out for spider monkey's and birds. The only confusing thing for me was that during my 5 day stay I never figured out who was in charge and the General manager? They were all helpful but no-one went out of their way to engage me and to see if I needed anything or ask me anything That aside, I will stay again and recommend you stay as well!

The reason to be here is for the experience of close connection to the surrounding rainforest. The hotel itself is nice but "challenging" in ways. The electricity is off for large portions of every day and night to preserve energy from the generator. There is no glass to windows - just screens - which helps you to feel really connected to the jungle. This was especially notable when Howler Monkeys started going off outside our window at 5 am. So - it was all cool! But after an exhausting day marching through Tikal, I had hoped for a good night of sleep. The restaurant was good but highly priced. Most frustrating, they offered a small plastic bottle of water instead of access to filtered drinking water, which is offered by almost every hotel in Guatemala. It feels ethically wrong for families isolated in the national park and have sweated out their body weight earlier in the day. We ended up buying it at a snack bar a quarter mile away rather than at the overpriced hotel bar.

Hello Mike, I appreciate your honesty and viewpoint. Being in the jungle does present challenges like water and electricity but I believe you gave us an even bigger one, which is to how to incorporate filtered water stations into the hotel to prevent the large usage of plastic. Please feel assured that we take your comments deeply into consideration and hope you can come back and see first hand our improvements. Best regards, your home in the jungle.

First off, the location. It is right in the jungles a few minute walk from the pyramids. Can't be a better start/end point to explore the great Maya town. The design fits perfectly. You'll get everything you would expect - lost in the jungles feel, nets above the bed, natural materials, animal all around. Best part - you can just walk around any time you want. I enjoyed walking to the pyramids after sunset in the dark - felt very wild but it's actually safe.

This location is extraordinary: inside the park and not far from the ruins. Staying at the lodge makes it possible to visit the ruins more than once, if you want. And even if not, you are completely one with the environment. With that kind of privileged site, it’s easy to be complacent, and we detected some of that during our stay. Front desk staffers were courteous but not particularly warm. When we asked if we could check out 30 minutes beyond the 1 pm deadline, we were turned down (even though the lodge was obviously very far from full.) The place operates on generators during certain hours of the day, so it was a mystery why there was no power during most of the dinner hours. The mosquito netting around our bed seemed more ornamental than functional (with big gaps at the corners.) Still, our room was comfortable, with good hot water. We were allowed to use the lovely swimming pool after we checked out of the room. And the gardens and dining room were so beautiful, they made our complaints seem minor.
