We stayed here for 2 nights and we really appreciated everything about it.
Firstly the hotel is perfectly located! You can get there with your car (and has a parking) and it is literally 1 minute walk to be in the middle of the Medina.
Secondly the hotel looks beautiful and is well maintained and taken care of.
Finally the staff was super friendly and attentive and made everything to accommodate our wishes (even anticipating breakfast time since we had to leave early), not to mention that the breakfast itself was wonderful.
Cannot say anything else than: highly recommend for a stay in Fes

This was our first stop in Morocco and it couldn't have been better. The place is gorgeous, just like you imagined and even better than the pictures. The staff was extremely helpful. They constantly went out of their way for us. We arrived late and we're too tired to go out for dinner. They tell you that if you want to eat there to give them notice (they make everything from scratch so they need the notice to buy the fresh ingredients from the market), but in spite of that, Mohammad saw our situation and offered to make us a simple meal vegetarian tagine (similar to Shakshuka) that was perfect (and didn't even charge us for it). Mohammad also had great tips and advice for getting around in Fes and the medina (what was safe, where to eat) and since we were two women traveling alone it was greatly appreciated. It is also a great location, 1/2 block from the "main street" of the medina" and we always felt extremely safe, even alone at night. If you're looking for a genuine Moroccan experience and want to meet some great people in the process, this is the place. Highly recommend.

We were here for three nights in January. The room was very small, and the bathroom was across the hall and unheated (which we did not realize when we booked), but the location and breakfast made up for the inconvenience. I liked being at the edge of the medina because it was easier to get in and out, and we could figure out way in and out. The breakfast here was amazing!!! They were flexible in terms of time, and just told us to come down after 8am. Although the dining area was outside, we could sit near heat lamps. The bread and jams were delicious, and we appreciated the variety in fruits and vegetables. I would recommend this spot if you want a place that is easy to access, and don't ind a smaller room.

Highly highly reccomend! Right from the booking experience where i made a mistake in payment and the owner Jerome Was super accommodating in adjusting my fare to the amazing caretaker Mohammed. As a single woman traveler everyone has warned me to be safe in fes, owing to induce ya, however Mohammed showed me the inner ways to the Médina, offered tajine upon arrivals, and when I expressed an interest in couscous he made it available for dinner.my stay at Riad Layalina fes was the epitome of Moroccan hospitality where they invite us into their home and hearts with all the warmth

Radouane and Asmara

We just spent four nights at the lovely Raid Layalina Fés.
As we had traveled from Marrakesh via train we arranged for a large taxi to pick us up when we booked the stay using their website.
Radouane who speaks good English met us at the door, helped us with our large cases to the garden. It’s a traditional raid, with some beautiful original features, with easy access into the medina.
We were immediately served a delicious vegetarian dish of peppers, onions, cheese and egg, all homemade by Asmara.
Radouane had also contacted a English guide Armen to join us and who once we had eaten and drunk cups of mint tea, he took us for a 15 minute orientation walk, which was hugely useful.
We arrange a half day tour with Armen for the next day because he was so knowledgeable and a good fit for us.
Our room (a triple bed) was large, it’s had four windows, a massive bed and a single bed. The bathroom was large too and the shower was over a huge tiled tub.
We ate two evening meals at the Riad and along with the breakfasts, all the meals were homemade and excellent. Of course, you can eat cheaper in the medina, but you won’t get the quality, quantity or the love that Asmara gives to her cooking.
We had chatted to Radouane about the possibility of going on an overnight tour to Chefchaouen, and because another lady staying wanted to go as well, he introduced us and we decided to share the cost of a private car with driver and do a 24 hour visit.
Radouane arrange everything!
Next day, leaving our big cases in our room, we set off early and I highly recommend going to Chefchaouen, it’s a four hour drive through beautiful countryside and the blue city is definitely worth seeing for more than a day trip.
We had a great stay at Riad Layalina, the staff, food and beds are great.
We were woken by the call to prayer each morning by someone who almost sang it. Lying in the bed listening was magical.
There’s some room for improvement with the shower fitting, the bathroom lighting was dim and the towel rail and toilet roll holder were just hanging on but these are minor issues.
Also I would like to give you fair warning that there’s lots of building work happening in Fés to the medina walls and they are also creating parking too, so check when you book, to see if that is completed yet as the noise from the build could affect the tranquility of your stay.

Lovely Riad, great location.
The only quibble I have is they charged 3 Euros for mint tea. When you are paying 100 Euros a night it seems nickle and diming to charge for mint tea which a lot of restaurants and riads give for free.
Oh, and another quibble is they say they take credit cards, but they really don't and put up a big fuss when I insisted. Sure they have to pay visa 5%, but it is a convenience for the customer which should be built into the price of this not-cheap riad.
Very good hot water and nice and warm rooms.

Dear David Thanks for taking the time to rate us. We are very surprised as you mentioned being charged 3 € for a whole jug of mint tea. The "extras menu" is displayed everywhere in the riad. Personally, when I travel and ask for beverages that are not included in the hotel pricing it seems to me logical to pay for these ; paying for a room does not mean that all extras are for free. The price of the room could be 3 times more expensive it wouldn't change anything to the fact that extras remain extras -:) . Moreover, we find it really unfair as we are the only place offering a tajine and fruit salad as a welcome... Anyway, I wish you all the best. Warm smiles

Stayed here for two nights. The Riad itself is incredibly beautiful, everything is spotlessly clean and features Moroccan tile work, fabrics, carpets and carving. It feels like you are living in a palace. The view over the Medina from the rooftop terraces is spectacular. Everything in the Medina is within easy walking distance, yet inside the Riad all is peace and serenity. The included breakfast is out of this world, and the staff is kind, attentive to every need, and yet never intrusive. We loved every minute of our stay. One caveat is that like in most buildings inside the Medina, the stairs are quite steep and may be difficult for people with mobility issues to navigate. This is truly the only potential issue, all other modern conveniences such as WiFi, running hot water, and in room climate control have been provided while maintaining the historical look of the rooms to the greatest extend possible. Can highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.

Wow! We're truly grateful for your fantastic review dear Simone! It warms our hearts to learn that you felt like royalty during your two-night stay at our Riad. The fact that you found everything spotlessly clean, enjoyed the spectacular view from the rooftop terraces, and experienced peace and serenity inside is music to our ears. We're thrilled that the included breakfast exceeded your expectations, and our team's kindness and attentiveness made a positive impact. Your mention of potential challenges with stairs is duly noted, and we appreciate your understanding. We're committed to maintaining the historical charm while providing modern conveniences. Thanks a million for recommending us – we can't wait to host you again!

The name of the wifi at Riad Layalina is "welcome home." We felt this to be every bit true. After a particularly hard time getting to Fez, we were so grateful to be welcomed by the incredibly warm and honest staff at Layalina. The hosts welcomed us with open arms, took care of us, and even introduced us to family members who were visiting in fez, including their children who were wonderful. The riad was beautiful and clean, with a roof deck overlooking the old city of Fez, where you can catch sunrise and sunset. There is also a small pool to swim in and cool off. We also had most of our meals here which were delicious and arranged exactly as we requested. The staff was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile to make us feel safe in a foreign country where being a tourist can make you feel vulnerable. It goes a long way in being able to enjoy your time knowing that the hosts are trustworthy and have your best interest at heart.

The riad is super beautiful and nicely located. The old medina is less than 5 min by foot away. The employees of the riad were taking extensive care that we have the best possible stay there. Raduan organised a walking tour and also took care that our following desert trip would be nice and safe. Even after we checked out, he contacted us on our desert trip to verify that all is good. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Layalina. We were met by a taxi organised by the Riad and made to feel very welcome on our arrival. Staff were all very helpful, accomodation very comfortable and plenty of hot water. They organised a meal that was more than adequate after our late return from Chechaouen .The breakfasts were amazing!!

Hello, do any of your rooms have a small refrigerator or minibar?

There was always a staff person on site when we were there last September. There were males and females - all were very nice and helpful, and for us it was nice to know a staff person was always available. The maids were female, and I only saw a female cooking. I doubt anyone on a roof terrace is free from determined efforts by anyone to see anyone in Fez, but the roof terrace seemed private enough. While not as pronounced as in India, it seems as if everyone watches everyone, everywhere, even if they are hiding. Also, anyone staying in the Riad is free to use the terrace, so I don't see how you can be assured of absolute privacy, unless you stay in your room with the doors and windows shut. Don't know about the Halal food. We only ate the breakfast which was primarily breads and jellies and butter and sometimes eggs, along with orange juice, tea/coffee. We were never offered alcohol with our breakfast, but there were lots of carbohydrates. The staff was very accommodating and would probably bend over backwards for reasonable requests. Also, the riad is a very short walk to the medina where you will find halal food. If you speak some french, it helps, but it is not necessary. The riad will arrange a ride to their place if you call or email and request in advance. But It's cheaper by taxi and those taxi drivers seem to be able to take you anywhere, even if they have to ask someone. At the time we checked out, we paid exactly what we were told we would be paying when I made the reservations. No surprises.
