Riad Layla enthrals you with a decor and ambiance reminiscent of the Arabian Nights. Riad Layla enchants you! The traditional building is constructed in Moorish style and was renovated in 3 years with much effort and love for the smallest details, just so that you could rent a riad that epitomises elegance. The building offers the comfort and service of a luxury hotel combined with the dreamy ambiance of a riad. The design combines traditional Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship with modern comfort. At the centre of the riad is a patio with a fountain and its pool. Cedar wood, mosaic (zellig) and stucco are witnesses of the elegance of this former residence. The salon, the patio and the beautiful roof terraces with a breathtaking view of the entire Fez medina offer a place to read, sun-bathe and relax. Breakfast and dinner are served on the roof terrace during summer. Come and enjoy the atmosphere of Riad Layla for your Morocco holidays

Stayed for 2 nights in the suite on the ground floor. Very spacious with doors opening out into the courtyard. Two good sized single beds and a seating area as well as a large bathroom area. Very clean just a little dark in the room, could have done with option of brighter lights and as it was on the ground floor near the entrance there was a bit of noise at certain times. The roof terrace area where you can have breakfast is great, lots of space to sit as well as a few sun loungers with spectacular 360 views over the whole old town area of Fes. Just bear in mind there are a lot of stairs to the top! Breakfast was huge with various types of bread and pancakes, jams and scrambled eggs. Staff very happy to help and we were able to leave our bags once checked out.
Location is amazing as right on edge of old town area near the top of the two main laneways which run downhill through the souk area to the tanneries.
Overall good value in a perfect location close to all the hussle and bustle but far enough away for peace and quiet.

Of all the riads we stayed at on our trip to Morocco this one had the best service and best bedding. It’s a few minutes walk from where cars can no longer enter the Medina but if you call them they will come help you with your bags. The rooms are spacious and breakfast on the terrace was a treat! We asked for extra eggs and they happily provided. The towels and bedding are plush and the mattress was the comfiest we have had in Morocco. The service was excellent and warm.

We stayed in five places during our Morocco trip and this Riad was my favorite. Very clean, beautiful decor, and good location. The rooms were also quite spacious. Great view of the city when you visit the terrace, where breakfast is served on a daily basis. Friendly staff.

The Riad Layla has a nice decoration/style and the staff is friendly. However, some low points were remarked:
a) minors problems in the room (heater not functioning during one night in wintertime, problem in the room key and central lamp not working);
b) we checked out early in the morning, about 7 am, before the Riad's breakfast time. Differently from others riads we stayed in Morocco, when we had to leave early as well, we were not offered at least a simplified breakfast. This low point is not considered an error in the Riad's procedures, but it was seen a sort of minor lack of courtesy compared to others riads; and
c) the most important point that influenced decisevily the final evaluation – I and my wife had a gastroentiritis because of the food served during the dinner at our last night in the Riad. The dinner was expensive (25 euros per person) in relation to the Moroccan restaurants, but the food was not well conserved. This fact spoiled the following week of our travel, since we had health problems.

We loved the spaciousness of this suite though climbing the spiral staircase up to the bed became a drag very quickly. Besides the beautiful windows that open onto the inner courtyard, there is a large window that opens onto the outside as well. This was a great source of light since low lighting is a thing in Morocco. Everything was great; the staff especially Foued, the terrace, breakfast, the beautiful decor). There were only two problems: the internet is sketchy and the water never got that hot. Warm enough for a quick shower but never hot. Oh, and dinner is ok but better elsewhere. Look for Restaurant Seffarine right above the copper workers. Excellent chicken tagine and salads.

From the minute we walked into this Riad we were delighted. The staff were fabulous (thank you Fouad for all your attention); the rooms stunning; comfortable beds; beautiful breakfast on the terrace (you won't walk away hungry) and lovely dinner. The medina in Fes is a bit daunting so Fouad arranged for someone from a local restaurant to come and pick us up and walk us to the restaurant the night we ate out. Great attention to detail and our comfort in the interior design!! The only disappointing thing about the Riad was the Hamam. I would not recommend this here given my experience in other Hamam's.

Amazing team made us feel very welcome and at home during our first visit to Fes. Very fast and responsive from initial booking to arranging transfers and reservations for us. Perfect terrace breakfast with view of the Fes Medina! 5/5 rating well deserved, keep up the great work! Location is great for exploring Fes, close to the famous Blue Gate.

Our stay at Riad Layla in Fes was wonderful. We booked the Zaina room and it was very comfortable and spacious. The staff at the Riad was very helpful - especially Souky who was super attentive and even found me a doctor when I was ill on my trip. She helped booked several tours and gave us great advice on where to eat - all made the trip extra special. I recommend staying here for an authentic experience.

The placed has a good location in the medina like many other Riads in the medina. The food is excellent and fresh, the terrace could be more interesting than other Riads and I consider this an important advantage, especially to have a nice breakfast overlooking Fes in the morning.
The people are very friendly, and I consider there level of service on a high level.
The Riad looks beautiful

I suggest you have their yogurt in the morning, pastilla (chicken or seafood), couscous or kafta for lunch or dinner. When you order mint tea make sure you ask for the pastries (kaab el ghazal is really good). Finally, the red wine they serve is not bad at all, and they are generous.

It's not very easy to find this place, make sure you know your way around before getting there!

Can you arrange for a shopping guide? How do we get from the train station to the riad?
Answer from Gabriel C
Mexico City, Mexico364 contributions68 helpful votes
One of the ways to enjoy Fes is going by yourself on foot; let be surprised for the little things everywhere at the market. The Medinah is well signaled. If you need to buy something special sure you can rely on Souky and Michel. The transfer from the train station is easy, book it with the Riad (20 Euros more or less, a sedan). Have a nice journey.
