Myself and my friend stayed here during our first but not our last visit to Dar RocMarra.
We was met at the airport by a driver that the Dar RocMarra had kindly arranged in advance for us.
Down the authentic but clean alleyway away from the hustle and bustle of Moroccan life behind a large wooden door is the beautifully clean oasis of calm called Dar RocMarra, a true hidden gem in a excellent location .we arrived to a roaring fire , the trickle of the water fall , the smell of roses and the delicious chicken Tagine cooking in the oven and with a calming, relaxing playlist as background music we felt immediately welcome. The owner Julie was staying while we were there and she and her staff were a wealth of knowledge of where to go and what to see with some incredible recommendations for restaurants etc , she was the perfect host and her team of staff were so friendly and accommodating , my room was extremely clean and comfortable with fresh water and rose petals changed daily and even my laundry was done and placed back in my room freshly pressed - such a treat !! , the breakfast and dinner was always a daily delight. I look forward to returning for another stay very soon .......

Dar Rocmarra has been lovingly restored and is in a quiet alley around 15 minutes walk to Jemma el fna square which is a total bonus when the Marrakech craziness starts to get too much.
We stayed here for 5 days that weren’t consecutive but spaced out over around 10 days, this was ideal for us as whilst we ventured off to Imlil, Essaouira and Agadir we would leave our luggage, take only a bag, and come back to our luggage in another different room. This meant we stayed in 3 of the 5 rooms this time, see photos.
When your taxi arrives from the airport (I booked through Booking.com) your driver will hopefully have phoned ahead and arranged for men with a luggage cart to be waiting on the corner (this is nothing to do with Dar Rocmarra). Just arrange the price up front. We had one person loading our luggage and 2 pulling the cart so we gave them 50 MAD between them (the exchange rate is 12 MAD to the £)
I found it easier to write the location nearest to the Dar down for when I jumped in a taxi in the future and this is Dar el Bacha, just a couple of minutes walk from the Dar.
There is a rooftop terrace with a few sunbeds. We didn’t use it as we were mad busy but the weather was between 22 and 25 degrees over the Xmas & Nee year period so could have been useful.
We didn’t eat here as we had a list of places I wanted to try (as I’m a nutritional therapist but we did see a couple eating here and it looked very romantic.
If you are a light sleeper like me, then go for rooms upstairs and not on the ground floor. All of the rooms are pitch black with the blinds closed. It seems cheaper to book direct than go through booking.com and I wouldn’t pay in euros as you seem to lose a lot on the conversion, even though booking.com states their price in euros, the price will never be the same as city taxes are added on nightly per person (not sure how much). Instead bring £ and change at Jemma el fna. Euro exchange rate is rubbish here too. The staff here are very lovely. I wasn’t well whilst here and they told me where to go to the pharmacies etc.

We arrived from a 3 day desert tour and Jalil met us where the tour guide dropped us off. The Dar is only a 5 minute walk from the main attractions but is far enough away that there is no noise on a night time. We were welcomed with mint tea and Jalil gave us a map and explained how to get to all the nearby places. He also gave us a card with the Dar's information so that if we got lost, someone would be able to help us get back.

We stayed in the Berber room and it was beautiful! There was so much attention to detail it felt like we were royalty! There were rose petals everywhere but not just thrown on the bed, someone had taken the time to select similar sized petals and create little designs which just shows how much effort was put in to preparing our room. The room was SPOTLESS.

When we went out for the first time Jalil escorted us to the main road and pointed out features in the street to look for to find our way back which was really kind and helpful.

The first morning, we were greeted by Jameela who told us there was a table on the roof terrace for us. It's honestly so beautiful up there and we really felt like Kings and Queens the whole time we stayed. Breakfast was incredible! There was omlettes, bread, jam, honey and butter every day but then the rest varied between pastries, msemen, beghrir and a different fruit and different flavoured yoghurt each day.

We went out for the day and came back to our room completely clean. At this point, we had been in 8 different hotels/riads in morocco over 3 weeks and nowhere had cleaned our room each day so we assumed it was normal to bnor have a cleaning service. We were so tired the night of arrival that we left our stuff everywhere but the staff here had gone above and beyond to clean and organise our things for us. Once again, there were fresh flowers, perfectly folded toilet paper and clean sheets every day. They really went to so much effort to make our stay hassle free.

We also noticed that for the first couple of nights, we were the only guests because it was a quiet time in Marrakech but even though it was just us, they still made sure everything was perfect. They lit tealights every day, made sure there were fresh flowers, turned on all of the lights on the roof terrace at night for us and so many other lovely little things. I'm sure other hotels would not bother doing all of that for just 2 people.

During our trip across Spain and Morocco, we stayed in 11 hotels/riads total, and BY FAR this was the best. It was also one of the cheapest. We will definitely be returning and staying in the same place because the Dar was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the service was incredible. Everyone was so kind, helpful and went over the top to make us feel welcome. To sum it up, I would say that during our stay we were treated like royalty but felt like family.

Thank you so much to everyone at Dar Rocmarra ❤️❤️

My husband and I stayed here during our visit to Marrakech for four nights. An amazing oasis in a busy city. the staff were so helpful and did all they could to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Extra touches - rose petals and rose in room, bottled water, recommendations to dining and willingness to hold our luggage while away for 2 nights on a desert trip. We had dinner here two nights and it was amazing - better Tagine and couscous as well as salads than other places we tried. Breakfast was also delicious. Could not recommend this place more highly. Thank you to the staff for making our visit so special!!

Wonderful experience staying at the Riad for four nights, location is excellent for walking and getting around the city. They arranged transfers to and from the airport and met us at the road to assist us with luggage and walk us through the alley.
The building and rooms are beautifully restored, you truly feel like you are immersed in Moroccan culture. Breakfast is excellent and served on the rooftop which was a pleasure every morning.
They provided tips for does and don’ts while wandering around and had cold wine we could purchase to relax after a long day!
Wonderful staff and very well maintained.
Would recommend staying here, just remember that this is an old building, hot water was sometimes a hit and miss (make it a quick shower)!

An absolutely beautiful riad in a great location in the Medina.
The rooms and whole riad are spotless, the rooftop is absolutely beautiful with loads of space to relax, read, sunbathe and eat meals etc.
The staff Jamila, Letifer & Jalil are all beyond helpful and there for anything you need. Breakfast was great and we asked Jamila to cook for us one night too which was actually the best meal we had of the whole trip!
Couldn’t recommend enough.

We stayed here for 5 nights and wish we could stay longer. The Dar is very pretty and gives a calm and relaxed vibe. Jamila and Jalil are providing an extraordinary service. When we arrived Jamila made us tea homemade cookies and took her time to explain where everything in the town is and how to get around. Our stay felt like we are visiting an overly caring grandma.(in the best sense) Every morning we had a luxurious breakfast at the rooftop and the coffee was the best we’ve had in Morocco. The cleaning of our suite was better than we could imagine. The location is very good for exploring medina.

Genius loci 10/10. Only wifi could be better.

Highly recommended!

While we only spent one quick night here, we found Dar Rocmarra to be a lovely riad in a great location. Jamilla helped us arrange for an early taxi for a 7 AM flight and even had a staff member from the riad walk us through the alleyways to meet the taxi. The road is beautiful, bed was comfortable and the room was lovely.

We stayed for 11 nights as an early April birthday treat, with the intention of using the riad as a base for wider exploring. In the end we stayed where we were and went no further than the Medina! We had some fabulous sunbathing weather on the rooftop and some days with rain and chill evenings, not unusual for that time of year, so it was wonderful to sit by the log fire, drinking remarkably good Moroccan wine and playing cards and reading. The choice of restaurants in Marrackesh is varied and generally of excellent quality so we did eat out on many evenings but on those where we chose to eat in, the food was as good as any that we found, the Tagine's being fresh and full of flavour. Breakfasts were feasts of fresh fruit , juice, breads, pancakes coffee and eggs,, the colourful spread changing every day. The place was spotless, the staff discreet and helpful and the location was perfect, a quiet hideaway 5 minutes from the bustle of the medina. We shall return very soon.

It was a joy to be back in our 'home from home' in Marrakech after a Covid-enforced absence of three years. Our group, on the way to and from our retreat in the desert as usual, received the warmest of welcomes from Jamila and Jalil, two outstanding dinners cooked by Jamila, and the usual high standard of comfort and attention to detail that makes this riad such a beautiful place to stay. Booked for next year already!
