An oasis of calm within the Medina. Conveniently located only a 2 min walk from where taxi's are available and a 15 min walk from the main square. We were met at the airport by a driver that the Riad arranged (220 dirham/c£18) which made the journey much easier. Staff could not do enough for us, including very kindly arranging to buy us our bus ticket to Essaouira. Breakfast and dinner on the rooftop terrace.

Property's Favourite Review
Just returned from 6 days staying at Dar Housnia, in the Medina of Marrakesh. What a gem of a hotel. Tucked away down one of many of the Medina’s winding back streets. Dar Housina, is an oasis of calm tranquillity, but not more than a minute or two from the bustle of the vibrant colour of Marrakesh life, and the bonus of a convenient drop off and taxi pickup location of Place Moukef, handy for any evening restaurant excursions, or day trips away from the city. With the added benefit of a secluded plunge pool, the traditionally decorated rooms are comfortable, and offer plenty of private space to relax and unwind. With its own Hamman, and quiet massage room a treatment is hearty recommend. Along with a comfortable rooftop deck area, or courtyard dining room breakfast or dinner can be taken in either area, and compliments the fabulous Zineb’s traditional Moroccan cooking . During our time at the Riad, we actually dined on our own, one evening having the whole Riad to ourselves, it was like having our own private chef. Abdu, and Zinab looked after us fantastically. The sea bass was wonderful as were the traditional salads. All the staff are very nice and extremely helpful and we also had the pleasure of chatting with the owners during our stay, and sharing a glass of wine by the pool. A convenient location, Dar Housina is a great base to explore Marrakesh from, and is heartily recommended.

We spend a full week at Eveline & Marc’s fantastic Riad im May 2023. We specifically chose to be inside the Medina to experience this vibrant and lively city but being close enough to be able to retreat to a calm and quite place for peaceful nights being at at stonethrow (10mim easy walk) from main plaza) We had a wonderfull experience from A-Z. Warm welcome, tastefully designed and themed rooms, carefully chosen decoration made us live our 1001 nights like a dream. The staff is exceptionally forthcoming and polite. Catering was simply mouth-watering, from the opulent breakfast to the fine moroccan dinners on roof-terrace, a blast. We will definately be back rather sooner than later

This is an absolute oasis within the walls of the medina. One thing to note, please don't make the mistake we did and try to figure out getting from the airport to Dar Housnia yourself. Let them arrange transport, and most importantly, send a porter. As for the house? It is a gem, it is wonderfully quiet and comfortable, the rooms have AC, they have a full services kitchen and bar, they have a plunge pool, meals in-house, you name it. Location wise it is a short walk through the passages to the center of the medina and a 15(ish) minute walk to the main square. The thing I really liked though was what a respite the Riad was from the hectic nature and heat of the medina outside.

Back to Dar Housnia (what else, anyway ?) for a romantic week, without kids. The Dar is still so perfect ! The team has renewed over time, but with always the same kindness, the same high quality of service. As a regular client here, I had the chance to enjoy the delicious traditional cooking of Rachida, now retired. And I am now happy to see that Zineb perpetuates it with the same quality. She deserves congratulations. As we now know quite well all the must sees in MKH, this time we just wanted to... do nothing... And we did it quite well, enjoying excellent massages and hammam care in Dar Housnia, another good reason to come here.

As much as I wanted to like this riad, I just couldn’t. The main issue - its location; secondary - the non-renovated amenities.

As many first-time visitors of Marrakech, I wanted to stay in the Medina (old city center) for the authenticity, etc. This riad does not have direct access to the road, one must walk 4-5min through a covered food market and side streets. After my 5-day trip in Marrakech I believe this to be one of, if not THE, worst neighbourhoods of the Medina: dirty, smelly, sketchy during the day and downright unsafe at night (even when with my partner). Wearing dresses and/or heels for dinner was not an option, so all expectations of “magical” evenings were gone. As for the riad itself - it is nice, no doubt. Refurbished, walls redone and painted, quite elegant. But our room only had a big (big!) bathtub in a non-renovated stucco-type material, all the cracks made it look dirty and it was really cold due to glass-less windows (typical in Marrakech). The owners solution was the tiny electric (in a wet space??) heater next to the bug spray on the floor. We decided to leave to a hotel after the first night and voiced our opinions to the concierge, who called the owner. She insisted that rooms were clean and that an influencer she recently had invited thought the bathtub was nice and did photos in the riad (because, yes, paid-for influencers give unbiased opinions).
She refused to refund any part of our 3-night booking. If you do decide to go - the concierge was top notch, really sweet and understanding. The breakfast is simple, but nice and fresh, albeit not on time. The service and communication provided were kind and felt genuine. Be aware - the instagram and website photos are nicer than the reality.

dear Dasha, Current comment on our riad needs to be answered. We confirm that our riad is ideally situated in one of the most authentic and historical area of the medina formerly occupied by rich merchants from Fès, where one can find any foundouks, the superb Medersa, the Ben Youssef Mosque, the museum of Marrakech, the museum photography and the legendary souks. It is true that our riad cannot be reached by car up to our door, but are there any riad in the medina where it is the case ? If so, let us know ! On top, our guesthouse is one of the nearest — if not the nearest riad— from the parking where all cars cannot go any further. Our guests are generally welcomed by our butler at the place Moqf and luggage carried by a “carrossa” to reach Dar Housnia within 3-4 minutes whilst sometimes it takes 15 if not 20 minutes to reach other riads ! We tried to describe with honesty and in a fair way in our website, the access, the situation and the atmosphere of the Medina. Don’t we do enough ? Is our site thoroughly read ? The Medina is not unsafe but walking through it with high heels is maybe not the best way to discover its little derbs and the souks ! Our guest decided to leave our place although we really wonder what he was actually searching for in staying into the Medina of Marrakech ? It is his decision and we do not accept being affected by it and therefore we applied our cancellation conditions that the very large majority of riads do apply. This is probably what pushed our guest to have such a biased opinion of our riad which runs completely counter all the latest comments that we received either on Booking.com or Tripadvisor. We are not going further reacting to all the points raised which, we feel, failed objectivity. We finally want to add that the influencer who came and highly appreciate our guesthouse, did not receive any payment or tip in any way. Kind regards Eveline

From the welcome at the airport by the driver, to the moment we left & said goodbye to Bouchra sad to leave, we were given fantastic hospitality and generosity by our hosts and all the staff at the riad. The hotel is set right inside the medina and we quickly found our way around all the alleyways & passages. Have to be on your guard at all times with your possessions - as with all parts of Marrakesh. Stunning character property where we had a suite of 2 double rooms PLUS our own roof terrace, where we had breakfast each day, and a cosy sitting room with log fire downstairs, also all to ourselves. Amazing!

We had a wonderful time at Dar Housnia. Everything was perfect! The Dar is magical and the staff is super kind. Every morning we started our day with a perfect and always different breakfast to allowed us to taste different speciality. For any doubts about where to go and what to do, the staff was ready to give us good suggesteions and organize for us. The position of the Dar is in a beautiful and peaceful part of the Medina where you can reach everything easily by walk. It was really a great experience and we hope go back soon at Dar Housnia.
