After staying for a week in cramped, noisy, over-rated, over-priced riads in the casbah of Marrakesh, El Olivar felt like heaven. The rooms are in several buildings that copy a traditional palace, with central pools. But unlike traditional sleeping spaces, rooms are large, soundproof, and generously provided with plush towels and fine linens.

The immense outdoor pool was cold in December, but there’s another, smaller pool indoors.

Next to the bar is an intimate dining room with lamps and tiling out of the Arabian Nights. Get there early.

Can’t give a perfect 5 rating because they had only been open a few weeks, and there were minor glitches that were quickly fixed, but attitude and facilities were A-one.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed at reception and the concierge took us to our room, whilst explaining where everything was on route. We were told if we were not happy with our room we could change the next day, which we did (as our balcony was facing the main street). We moved to a ground floor pool view with a larger balcony area, which was better for us. The rooms are spacious and clean, the cleaners come in daily and do a great job (the extra big soft bath towels were a winner for me).

The grounds and swimming pool area are picturesque and well maintained, as is the décor of the reception area.
All the staff we encountered were so friendly, helpful, kind and work very hard. The restaurant is well stocked and plenty to chose from, although can be a bit repetitive. The outdoor BBQ section added a nice touch for meat eaters. All the bar staff are well humored and efficient, although sometimes wait times can be a bit slow. Special shout out and thanks to Adam and Hadil 😊.

In my opinion the animation team are the key contributors as to why the atmosphere in this hotel is what it is and they definitely get 5🌟. They work hard throughout the day and the evening with such fun activities, both with the children and the adults. And made my holiday such a memorable one from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. The animation management lead by Madhi and Hosni have such a great team working with them and I would personally like to thank you all – Faza, Mimi, Chinwi, Said, Khalid, Nawal and Ihab (Mr DJ 😊). Beautiful, beautiful people. A special thank you to Faza, Khalid and Mimi who went above and beyond, so grateful to you all 🙏.

There is not much near the hotel, so if you wanted to go anywhere after the bar closes a taxi would be required. The hotel does a free shuttle bus twice a day into the center of Marrakech, which we used one morning. And a taxi to the airport is approx £17 and takes about 20 minutes.

We will definitely return and very much look forward to staying again. Thank you El Olivar ❤️

Very poor I would rate this 2 star resort and that too is being generous, firstly the bedding had old stains, no kettle in room, fridge did not work had to call reception 3 times for someone to eventually replace the fridge along with the air con also, food choice was not a lot and mainly Moroccan dishes would be nice to have some international food choices the restaurant was small which led to big queues which still people would push in, the tables were not cleaned properly, again for a 5 star would expected drinks to be served but you would again have to queue to get ur drinks and staff did not speak English the snack bar staff always seemed fed up with making drinks all day and the worst mojitos cocktails iv drank. The food was not the best either iv eaten into chicken that was undercooked, omelettes full of egg shells. The snack they serve between 5-6 in the very small cafeteria is ridiculous how everyone would swarm the place pushing and shoving to get a snack sometimes u would be left with nothing. The spa again for somewhere that considers its 5 star is very poor and below average. Only place you can sit and have drinks is outdoor the heat was too much wanted to sit indoors but they have no place unless you sit In reception. I think this resort is more catered for the locals than international people.

Hard working and Friendly staff; great animation team Jimmy Ibou imane himmi Qader Simo.

Concierge is very helpful and approachable.

That’s the positives out of the way.

However the hotel itself is very disappointing. They run out of alcoholic drinks even beer regularly.

The all inclusive drinks are all local brands, which seem watered down immensely. If you want international brands they are available at a cost in the lounge.

Unhelpful and almost arrogant management every answer is "yes" but nothing happens. There is No interaction with them are often seen swanning about with little purpose. But are totally unapproachable.

Food is bland, cold and not much variation from day to day.

Very mercenary and want you to pay for stuff even though it's all inclusive.
Archaic check out process check out is at 12:00 and after that it's 100 dhiram for ever hour you stay there until you can go to airport. Flights out are normally at 5:00 or later so you end up Paying extra for lunch and any drinks. Very strange.

Pool was cold so unusable and slides were not on.

Heaters were put out in cafeteria on Friday and Saturday which happened to be the Moroccan night that had a functions for the local clientele who were at the hotel for the weekend but otherwise no heating for us when asked answer was “no gas”.

Rooms are nice but lack a mini bar; there is a fridge which is empty. The TV only has local programs but has Netflix and prime which you can log on to.

The pedicure is brutal, and will damage your nails.

Internet is intermittent and does stop working regularly.

Great place to visit if your looking into giving up alcohol and want to ease into it.

There is no ATM on site ( there is one near the city centre, which is a 400 dhiram cab ride) so any cash exchange has to be done via the reception and a less than favourable rate. Contact less and Apple Pay is a chore as the staff keep nagging you for days until the payment is received.

Disappointed would not recommend it at all.

We were attracted to the hotel by its 5 stars, but it did not live up to this. By European Standards it was 3 star which was disappointing. Maybe the star system in Morocco is different!!

We had an all inclusive deal which included all food. We were there for 10 days, and as result the menu was repeated pretty quickly and became pretty boring. You can only eat tagine so many times! The main dining room was pretty cold, so most people wore jackets to keep the cold out.. The barman needs training in how to make cocktails. We had some pretty disappointing ones.

On the plus side, the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The room was good and spacious with a good sized bathroom backed up by good cleaning every day. It had a good gym, wonderful outdoor pool, but too cold to swim in in Jan.23.

We asked for info at reception such a as a map of Marrakesh, but they did not have one which was surprising for a "5" Star hotel.

The hotel is resort style with a large swimming pool and rooms on either side. The rooms are quite spacious (I was in a suite). The flip side is that it is quite far from the main city and you need transport, although the hotel offers some shuttle service. The other problem is food. The hotel has a snack bar and a restaurant. While I didn’t try the snack bar by the pool, the restaurant has a very limited menu and the prices are high and the quality isn’t great. So, you will need to head back to the city for your meals or have your meals and return late in the evening. The breakfast spread was the usual fare. The hotel gave me lots of fruits and biscuits in the room. Minus the distance and the restaurant, the room was comfortable.
PS: They only give you 2 litres of water even if you stay for a week

We will keep great memories of our holiday at El Olivar Palace. The hotel facilities are exceptional and well maintained (the swimming pools included the indoor heated one, the comfortable and clean bedrooms, the restaurant and the variety of food, the bars, etc.)
What we particularly appreciated was the hospitality and the kindness of the staff throughout the hotel. From the welcome quality at the Reception, the efforts and professionalism of Rachid at the conciergerie to advise and organize trips for you, the cleaning staff availability, the restaurant staff always caring, Youssef and Youssouf at the bar were fantastic. A special mention to the Entertainment Team: Hamza, Mamadou, Jimmy, Fati, Asmae all exceptional by their professionalism, dynamic and care. They are excellent with the disco night organization and very caring with the kids at the Kids Club. Our 6 year old daughter could not get enough of the kids disco and being entertained with activities at the Club. The day of our departure, our daughter did not want to leave this place.
Thank you all for your care and hospitality and for making our holiday so special.
We will come back, Inshallah!

Nice hotel but quite far out from Center. In January it was very quiet and only very few guests were in hotel. Free Wi-Fi with good speed in rooms. Smart tv in rooms with plenty of apps you tube,Netflix etc.free shuttle to Center is provided by hotel twice a day .
Overall all staff were decent and welcoming but I will mention jimmy he was a star and very helpful.there were only very few guests so very limited all inclusive option was available. Food was okay . Rooms were clean. Overall I was satisfied with my stay in el Oliver and will recommend if you want to be outskirts of Marrakech.
