They were extremely nice with us .
And the rooftop Stah is amazing , very recommended place to visit and to enjoy the cocktails and the food
Will definitely come back
Breakfast is great, food was generally good, the spa was very relaxing too.
I highly recommend this hotel because of the quality of service, the discreet staff and guaranteed privacy.
Upon entering the hotel, I was warmly greeted by Khadija, the manager of reception. She was gracious and professional. I checked in easily and was greeted with a welcome drink. The hotel lobby is inviting, a bit modern but nevertheless intimate and comfortable. I was walked through the pool area to my room, and immediately felt in heaven. The pool area was fabulous. Very relaxing with chase lounges, perfect sun and the best mix of music I have heard from Miami, LA to Sydney. I spent a couple of hours at the pool with other guests, relaxing, reading and sleeping. A welcome respite from a busy trip to Paris the days before. There is no drink service, so you do have to go to the bar for your drinks. I recommend highly the Ourika. A concoction of fruit juice, vanilla and champagne.
My room was clean. It was well furnished, a kind of modern Morrocan theme overlooking the pool. It was large by European standards and fairly normal by US. WIFI worked fine. Had CNN (if you really want to watch TV while in Morocco).
I spent most late afternoons at the Sky bar where the views are a dream and the service is a little spotty but always delivered with a smile. It is a wonderful place to quietly watch the Sunset.
I did have a hamam and a massage. Though the therapists did not speak English, this only added to the experience. I had never had a hamam so all i can tell you is that it hurt at first but my skin has never been softer. My massage was excellent.
I did two days of touring and my biggest regret was that I did not spend more time at the pool.
It is best to remember that Morocco does not have the refinement of Paris, nor the service culture of India. The wait staff could be slow, but I will wait a bit longer for a genuine smile. The reception staff was first class, especially Mohammed. Khadija could run a hotel anywhere in the world. Elegant and warm, she makes you feel special.
I will go back. One, because I left two shirts behind. Two, for the pool and music mix. Three, for Ourikas at sunset at the Skybar. It is a good respite from the Medina.
Only down side, it is about 10 minutes from the Medina and taxis are spotty. This is not the hotel's fault.
My advice, sit back, relax, don't stress, get on Moroccan time.
We were told it would only take 3 days and we were already not very happy as we made it clear to the hotel that the external pool was the main reason for our stay.
That's why they proposed to upgrade our room, but it ended up being a deceitful offer, because upon our arrival, the hotel staff informed us that the pool renovation would take 15 days, which was four times longer than what was initially communicated.
The staff was unprofessional, even calling our room at midnight. The room itself was lacking in quality with issues such as humidity and broken amenities.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that despite the hotel clearly lying to us and ruining our vacation, they denied the truth and did not offer any refund or compensation. This level of dishonesty and lack of accountability is unacceptable and only adds to the frustration of the entire experience.
After doing some research, we found out that we were not alone in our experience. Several other people on Google Reviews shared similar stories about the hotel's lack of honesty and professionalism. It's clear that this is a recurring issue with the property, and we feel obligated to warn others so they can avoid the same disappointment and frustration.
I would urge anyone considering this hotel to think very seriously as the customer service and management’s ability to rectify problems is nonexistent. The hotel does not deliver on any level. It is superficial, tacky and misrepresentative.
As a frequent visitor to Marrakech, I would urge you to look elsewhere as there are much better hotels and Rhiads offering better value with honest customer focused management.
Firstly the location; The hotel is based way out of the centre and a sizeable amount of money was spent hiring taxis. The surrounding area can be compared to a building site!
The main reason for booking the hotel was for the spa facilities. We used the indoor pool just once as it was not heated adequately. The outdoor pool does not have the benefit of heating either.
The spa is badly maintained and very dirty with large amounts of dirt around the pool area from outdoor shoes! Given the state of the facilities, we did not book any spa treatments.
Room service is dreadful. Our food was delivered cold twice and it took almost two hours to achieve a hot meal. The breakfasts are average. Based on our experience, we choose not to use the hotel’s restaurant.
The hotel advertises Satellite TV; please note there is only one English channel CNN.
The corridor areas are not heated and are freezing cold at night. Windows were frequently left wide open.
The heating in our room did not work despite reporting this to the reception and three visits from the engineer. I was accused of misoperating the system which was untrue. On the third visit the engineer did indeed confirm that there was a problem with the system. By this time we had suffered three very uncomfortable cold nights of sleeping with our coats as extra blankets!
I approached the reception to advise them of my complete dissatisfaction and I was kept waiting for twenty minutes. When I approached them again I was told that because it was ‘New Years Eve’ there was no management to deal with my issues and I was to write a full report! The attitude of the reception staff was rude, arrogant and no help or assistance was offered.
I then decided to vacate the hotel and find alternative accommodation as I could not bear to stay another night.
Suffice to say the hassle of finding alternative accommodation on New Year’s Eve was stressful to say the least and as a result completely ruined our plans for the evening.
I have since written to the management of the hotel requesting a refund for the two nights that we did not stay at the hotel. Suffice to say I have not received a refund or a satisfactory response.
I have travelled all over the world and I can safely say that I have never experienced such awful hospitality and service.
For example, the doorman insisted to us that he has negotiated a "good price" of 100dh for our first taxi. A quick google informed us that this was in fact around ten times a standard price, so the hotel staff and the taxi drivers are clearly cooperating to hoodwink hotel guests into paying extortionate rates for taxis. On future days, as we were haggling hard with the drivers to get close to a fair price, the doormen would frequently interject to tell us not not to because what was being offered was a "good price"; we often managed to secure half the original fare after haggling.
Then there was the cockroach which we saw come out of the bathroom and then made its way into our suitcase over night! My girlfriend hates bugs and panicked, the cleaning staff removed it from our things, and then offered to wash our clothes. 'That's a nice gesture to make up for the unsanitary room', I thought. But of course it wasn't, and they then turned up at the door asking for the equivalent of about £75! I had to complain to several people about this to get the clothes laundered on the hotel, but only after being lectured by the management that the bug must have come in our suitcase because they have never had one in the hotel before. This is laughable because they have an exterminator on staff who had previously been in to pour stuff down the drains!
They then shrunk some of our clothes, despite their labels with clear instructions not to use a dryer. And to think they intended to charged us £75…
The final insult came as we tried to check out. A very angry lady came up to us and demanded to know why there were no hand towels in our room. We explained that we had never been given hand towels, but this wasn't good enough and we were not allowed to leave until they had searched our bags! They actually searched our bags! This is supposed to be a four star hotel and here they are searching guests over hand towels because they can't keep track of their inventory properly! When it became clear that the towels weren't in there, we were given the most scowling and tight lipped apology I have ever received, and that was that.
The restaurant staff are great, but the rest are poor. I strongly urge you to avoid this hotel unless you want ripped off by the staff, your clothes contaminated and then shrunk, and then to be accused of stealing and searched!
The hotel itself is not too old, is well maintained and in a very good location as well. The let down starts with service and to be precise the management of the hotel.
Spa staff, unprofessional, needs to be trained on the basics of what you can/can't do in the spa as staff.
Hot water, was not available several times during my 4 night stay. At times, not for hours in the morning leaving me unable to shower. I had the manager apologise the first day for this but that was it. I continued complaining on the lack of hot water for the consecutive days and upon check out and had nothing back in compensation - not even an explanation of the issue causing it or an apology.
to anyone considering staying here, PLEASE read the negative reviews and their management response. Which five star hotel chain management ever comes back challenging, fighting back their guests and blaming back on them. They even fail to realise that this will only seen by other guests as an unprofessional response and likely to put then off.
A professional hotel manager would never permit any of the above to go on in his/her hotel.
As a frequent flyer to Marrakech, I'd recommend NOT staying here.
Despite all this there are SOME positives of Cesar Resort & Spa - majority of the other staff, especially bar staff were friendly and Morad makes amazing Mojitos! Such a shame Nadia ruined our experience. If you do visit then please don't be sucked into her fake friendliness on your arrival!!!!!!!
Our rooms were not done, so we had to wait even longer (we arrived around 19:00 / 7 PM). There were no towels and no water (free water every day was included).
After contacting the reception 2-3 times we got towels. During our 6 night stay we did not once get two bathing towels. Sometimes no towels, sometimes one towel and sometimes one bathing and one hand towel. We had to ask for towels almost every day.
The first night we made the big mistake to try the hotel restaurant. Do not do that! Visit the Al Fassia restaurant 50 m down the road. The restaurant is slow, untrained and the food is poor. Also a big warning sign is that there are no other guests.
The room, beds and cleaness is fine. Do not worry aleftbout the black corridors, then the trash and leftovers from room service, that are everywhere is not that obvious.
The breakfast is okay, but surely some of the dishes are from the day before. You can get a freshly made omelet and 5 of 6 days the orange juice was freshly pressed. The coffee is very good, and you can get more than one cup.
In general the hotel is overstaffed, but they are not very efficient. They are kind, but not smiling, and you do not feel welcome.
You seldom see other guests, maybe because there are only 23 rooms?
When we were preparing to checkout a person (a member of the staff we think) suddenly contacted us very agressively about two bottles of Evian from the mini bar, and yes we had one bottle from the mini bar the first night, when there were no water in our room. I tried to explain it, but still why argue abot 100 MAD. Not very service minded.
The best thing about the hotel is the perfect fast wifi and internet.
I will recommend you to consider another 5 star (cheaper) hotel, e.g. the Mogodor 1 km down the road.
