We stayed in on of the villas at Selman last week and were overwhelmed by its beauty. Every luxury you could possibly imagine was effortlessly afforded us. Ahmed our butler was beyond divine - he was there at any time of the day and night and every evening we came back to a glorious fire. The design of this hotel is without question the finest in Marrakech. The attention to detail, the friendliness of every staff member is something we won't forget. The spa is exceptional, the gardens utterly breath taking. Every aspect of this hotel is way beyond five stars. Congratulations this is a world leader in luxury hotels.

My wife and I recently stayed at Selman the beginning of April and we had a truly memorable stay and experience. The level of service and attention to detail by all staff was remarkable.

Our Client Relations Manager Ali helped us plan and organize all of our activities over the weekend. She checked in with us regularly to ensure our stay was comfortable and we were getting everything we needed.

We had a private dinner which was an unbelievable experience thanks to our great host Omar who provided an exceptional dinner service but also showcased all the horses, answered questions and took some great pictures of us. Thank you Omar And chef Jaffar for the great dinner!

I don’t recall specific names but the pool staff were constantly bringing us cold water, Ice, adjusting our umbrellas and checking in to see if we needed anything. We had a great time enjoying the pool area and day beds both days.

We also did the Sunday brunch, which I would also highly recommend. Ali saved us a great table with a perfect view of the show and Majda as usual gave us attentive and immaculate service. Chef Jaffar also walked me through the expensive menu and shared personal favourites. There were so many options that I couldn’t possibly try everything but I did enjoy the grilled lobster and the massive oysters from Dakla.

We did a Hammam and massage combo as well and found them both to be rather good. My only critique of the entire hotel was with the relaxation area that they setup here. It’s open to the main reception hall and so you end up hearing the chit chat from reception and other noises which doesn’t make for the best experience. We had someone getting a tour at the same time and they were talking and laughing like they were at a fair. Not ideal.

Our room was spacious and stocked with everything that you could need. The few times that we did call room service for something we were surprised that someone was at our door within 60 seconds. Really great service.

Breakfast had ample variety so you could try it for a few days without having to eat the same thing twice. I personally liked their homemade yogurt.

I could not have asked for a better stay and will more than likely go back in the near future.

My boyfriend and I experienced the most unique private dining setting of our lives last week at the Selman. Upon our arrival at the hotel, was last were swiftly greeted by Ahmed, who introduced himself and informed us he would be taking care of us for the evening. We arrived early, and enjoyed cocktails overlooking the grounds and the pool as the sun was setting.

When the time came to taken to our table, Ahmed showed us through the gardens and gave us a tour of the barn, giving us a background on each of the Arabian stallions housed there. The setup of our table was stunning, with candles lining both sides of the aisle, dozens of roses placed atop our table, and traditional Moroccan music (at the perfect volume). We were greeted by the General Manager and the Duty Manager, who made us feel very welcome.

We also had a designated sommelier for the evening who was wonderful, and made recommendations for us throughout our 7-course dinner. Ahmed consistently checked on us throughout the evening to make sure everything was perfect. He made modifications to our menu without hesitation when we asked, and showed us to a private cabana later in the evening, where we opened an exquisite bottle of champagne during a presentation of the finest stallions.

We became great friends with Ahmed by the end of our meal! He is absolutely wonderful. Every aspect of our evening was phenomenal - I would go back again in a heartbeat and highly recommend this to anyone who is interested.

My mother and I stayed a few nights over Christmas. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and feels straight out of a fairytale. The fact that there are stables in the gardens makes it even more incredible; the horses are amongst the best Arabian breeds and are very well treated. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always smiling and going the extra mile to ensure everyone’s comfort. They also remember the guests’ names which make the experience very personable. The food is very good and there are a couple of restaurants with different menus, so you never get bored. The Sunday brunch with horse show is amazing, and the carers took the time to explain to us what they do with the horses and how they train them. Finally, the spa is wonderful. The only surprise is the fact that they charge an extra 1000MAD per night upon arrival - we were told this was cautionary and would be reimbursed during check-out if unused for extras such as food etc. Overall, this was a great experience and we highly recommend this hotel. It is both great for families and romantic escapes. One of my new favorites. We will definitely come back.

I have to say that I got the first impressions that i made the right decision to book at this hotel when I first connected with the staff through my email interactions with Hasna and Kamilia from the reservations department. High level of professionalism with my requests.

We were in Marakech in December. The hotel pays attention to details in its design and service. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of every corner. There is always a beautiful art peace or a unique lamp. Even though the hotel has around 50-60 rooms, the area itself is HUGE and the facilities are great for a hotel of this size. They offer their signature Moroccan tea and Moroccan sweets upon arrival, and those are addictive.

The rooms are beautiful and the bathroom is gorgeous. The tiles and the details in the rooms are well thought through. The amenities in the bathroom smell soooo good. I miss the scent of that hotel.

We tried the room service a few times in the hotel, and the Moroccan food was delicious. The chicken Pastilla is so good!

At the hotel, we took a small tour of the horse stables.

Lamya from concierge was extremely helpful. She has been making all of our tour bookings. She booked for us a tour with Hafiz and I highly recommend him as a tour guide. He is knowledgeable, professional and funny! On the last day, I mentioned to her that I wanted to take home some Moroccan sweets and that the kitchen in the hotel told me they needed more notice to have it ready. She spoke to the driver who was dropping us to Casablanca airport and found a place that I can make a stop at before reaching. That’s what a concierge should do, think of solutions for the guests immediately and outside the box !

I was extremely happy with the choice that I made to stay at Selman and will definitely return back to it!

We travelled in Morocco for three weeks and had a wonderful time. Every hotel received us with open arms and the typical warm local hospitality. That is until we got to the Selman hotel. It was my birthday and they manged to spoil my day with an arrogant welcome and long wait to register. Then we pointed out that we were promised an upgrade and they rudely said they won’t do it. They brough us to our room which was purple, run down and looked on a deserted field. Stuffy and depressing. We asked for another room and again were met with contempt. We then told them we wanted to leave and to cancel the pre paid reservation. They said ok and tried to keep us there with no promise to change rooms. We left and later found out they would only give us 50% refund of 3 of the 4 nights we booked. We called and out travel agent called and they wouldn’t budge. Not only they ruined our day but they also cost us a fortune as we ended up having to book another hotel . Do not go there- there are many other beautiful hotels in Marrakech in this price range. And much closer to the center.

Dear Ms Ohayon, Dear M. Lonner, Greetings from Selman Marrakech and thank you for sharing your concern both of you in two different reviews…I'll therefore copy paste my anwers... As explained during the check-in, we couldn’t not upgrade you on an above category immediately as the hotel was fully booked although we promised you to do it the night after. We are also really astonished by the description about our hotel. By looking at our web site and reading other reviews, everybody could understand that we are just 7 km away from the city center, that we have a collection of purebred Arabian horses and that the luxurious design brought in by Jacques Garcia’s unique talent, along with the typically local architecture perfectly reflect the soul of the Ochre city and the Moroccan art of living. After visiting your room, you decided to leave immediately the hotel and ask for a refund that was declined as you room was blocked and pre-paid since long time with a non-refundable rate clearly staten to your travel agent. We are therefore really sorry that you left the hotel without experiencing it. I’m sure that you would have had rated us much better as the majority of our guests do after staying with us. Kindest regards, Kamil Ennadifi General Manager kennadifi@selman-marrakech.com

What sold me on booking this property vs. the many other beautiful properties in Marrakech was the on site Arabian Stud Farm, but once we arrived it became clear that this property is amazing on fronts. The design of each space, the rooms, the bedding, the massive pool in the main area, the service from all of the staff....we just could not give enough praise. The restaurants serve terrific food, Moroccan specialties and some international options. Just wow all around.

I would recommend a "Signature" breakfast or lunch where there is a special meal set up for you and some of the beautiful Arabian horses and taken out for your viewing pleasure. We did a breakfast and were glad we did. The breakfast was amazing, the horses were amazing and the service provided by Kamal and Driss was just next level. They truly made us feel like friends and not just guests of the hotel. They even took time to show us around the gorgeous villas. We've stayed at many , many hotels all over the world and it's not often to be left with that feeling. Thanks to Kamal and Driss for making an already special experience, even better.

Our concierge was named Lamya and she was also incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful. She went above and beyond. She not only helped us with dining options, site seeing while staying at Selman, but she even continued to be helpful beyond our stay here. Many, many thanks to Lamya as well.

We hope to have the opportunity to come back to Selman Marrakech soon.

After a little miscommunication with our driver, taking us to the wrong location, we were greeted by Ahmed and Kamil who were very accommodating and understanding of our situation. Unfortunately, due to a dinner reservation at a different location we didn’t stay however, we were made to feel very welcome and both staff members were very engaging, not only ensuring we were both ok but happy to stay and talk to us both. We are hoping to return before we leave the beautiful Marrakech but thank you for being very welcoming on our spontaneous visit.

I visited here as part of a business trip, we were treated like absolute royalty with the most beautiful food and drink laid out for us in their stables that are home to their stunning Arabian horses. It was so special! The two members of staff that dined with us, Mariam and Yasmine were delightful and easy to talk to and the rest of the staff were attentive and hospitable. The horse show after dinner was a lovely touch.
The actual hotel itself is a beautiful, seductive lair with endless corridors that make you feel like you could get lost, but you wouldn’t mind. All in all a remarkable hotel that I’d love to visit again.

We had a week at the Selman.
The staff are wonderful and had prepared a surprise for us as it was our Ruby Wedding celebration. The rooms are very special and excellent housekeeping - the room and all public areas are kept immaculate.
The concierge and front of house team were very helpful in booking trips, tour guides and restaurants for us and had some excellent recommendations.
The hotel provides drivers (at a charge) to take you up to the city which is about 15 mins away and we travelled up most days to eat, shop and sight see.
There's the main restaurant and poolside bar/restaurant but we found the menu quite limited and not to our needs- its also quite expensive, even for a 5* hotel.
The only 'downside' to the hotel is the constant music and noise around the complex. Everywhere you go by the pool bar and inside there is music playing - for such a lovely place with so much space, a bit of silence would have been very nice. The pool bar/restaurant has a sneer most nights which for me was way too loud and again a bit of quiet would have been preferred.
Again thanks to all the staff for making our holiday very wonderful.
