My spouse and I recently booked at La Mamounia based on TA reviews for our stay in Marrakech. The hotel and grounds are beautifully maintained and look very much as pictured online. We noticed many non-guests coming in just to take photos and dine in the restaurants. We were welcomed with dates and a non-alcoholic drink at reception. The service/staff were excellent, everyone greets you and handles every request efficiently and professionally. The security and doormen were extremely friendly and add to the luxury of the experience. The lounge area had a jazz band playing each night. We tried the breakfast buffet and the Italian restaurant - both very good, albeit very expensive. We booked a traditional hammam and really enjoyed the experience. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. Toiletries were high quality and well appointed, welcome snacks/water provided, coffee maker in the room with real cream. Location is only a 10min walk to the main square/medina. The only down-side was the cost. It is very hard to justify the uncommonly high price point as nothing is really "included" outside of your room.

Just a home from home. I can’t tell you how much we love this hotel. We have got to keep one many of the staff and they are all so proud to be part of the hotel and it feels like family each time you come. Carolyn and Rachid from guest relations are such professionals. Yasin who is much more than a sommelier came out of his way to look after us. The great Mustafa well his infectious smile and professionalism is epic. This hotel cares about its guests and as guests we should care for them also. I must mention Stefan who always greets us with a smile and warm welcome what a lovely person.

Is the Mamounia worth the cost? Of course not. Is the Mamounia experience worth the cost? Absolutely. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the amazing gardens and the mountains. To sit on the balcony with a beer and a glass of wine in the evening was an experience which will last forever. The room was fabulous, as was the bathroom. The service is 5 star +. The breakfast by the enormous pool was as good as it could ever get. The location is perfect. Unforgetable.

Pretentious post and expensive. We are in the Moroccan restaurant. First of all I was turned away to get closed toe shoes - ok for a woman but not for a man (30 degree heat) Properly attired we returned Menu requires 3 courses - no option even A La carte to have less - hence minimum charge c£100 a head without water or any drinks.. Then - soup and bread arrives - even before the starter! Salad starter consisted on 14 bowls - enough for 4 people - but since everyone has to order a starter there isn’t really a sharing option Nicely presented and good flavours but totally OTT. Fish main was flavoursome but overcooked and hence a little tough and dry Best bit was the citrus flavoured ice cream and creams £120 a head is an absolute minimum which is more than I would expect to pay in Marrakesh anywhere Also unimpressed to be sharing the restaurant with various Stray cats - who seemed to be tolerated/ignored Not nearly good enough for the pretentious branding and pricing

My wife and I have stayed at La Mamounia three times and it never ceases to enchant us. The rooms, although not as large as in other hotels (we always chose the least expensive ones!), are charming and so beautifully done. My wife loves to have a salt bath in the bathtub, its very existence a sign of unpretentious luxury! The hotel location allows it to have a high level of privacy while still making it easy to reach the bustling Medina, which is a "must see" even if only to amaze oneself at its fantastic chaos (we always get lost there; a GPS is a GREAT help!). And we can't forget the staff! Very friendly and extremely helpful, always ready to help you solve the myriad little problems that can arise when one is traveling to a new place.

I appreciate the exceptional service at la Mamounia. Everyone is so attentive. I love the cosmopolite clients of La Mamounia and I made great new friendships during my last stay. The spirit of this hotel is magical under the reign of it's director Pierre Jochem. All senses are constantly stimulated. Art is present everywhere. The work of Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku in the shape of a huge luminous Berber necklace at the entrance already sets the tone for the successful marriage between modernity and love for tradition. The artist of a thousand works of art Pierre Hermé makes gastronomy sensual. The music reflects the sweetness of 1001 nights. The warm welcome at the airport in a Porsche makes me feel like James Bond enjoying a moment of relaxation. I am under the spell of La Mamounia.

Third stay at La Mamounia. While the hotel is visually stunning, I felt a huge decline in the service… Check-in: NO welcome drink !! They forgot to bring us our almond milk…. Bar Majorelle: we were ignored for a long time and we had to almost beg the waiters to be attended Room: Cake and sweets are not replenished anymore.. Housekeeping: no turndown service on second night. Also on our previous stay, housekeeping offered to unpack our bags, but not this time…why? Spa: jacuzzi is almost cold Moroccan restaurant: way too much food and a bit bland (but good service) Gym: great staff! There are so many luxury options in Marrakech and La Mamounia is not competitive anymore.

I had visited this hotel a few occasions to use the spa facilities and restaurants but never stayed in a room until recently. I had left previous trips with the impression this was the best hotel in the world. Having now stayed overnight in a room there, my opinion has sadly. If you are staying in a classic room, do not have high expectations about the size, they are pretty tiny! The shower is so dark that some light would really help. Our telephone to reception did not work, so had to walk to reception for any queries/room service, far from ideal. The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated however. Both the outdoor and indoor pools are allegedly heated, and that may be the case, but they were unpleasant to swim in, not warm enough to enjoy. The hotel staff are overwhelmingly kind and professional, but the poolside staff seem to belong to a different hotel. It was difficult to get their attention, and we felt like a nuisance when they did take our food and drink orders. One time we ordered a glass of rose wine and white wine, then decided to have 2 more glasses so asked for the same again, this time the white wine given was a much more expensive wine. I’ll never know if this was a genuine error. The poolside food was basic, I had a very dry burger and skinny fries the kind I could easily get at McDonalds. The Churchill bar was previously somewhere with charm and character, as well as a piano. The leopard print carpet was divisive and can see why they updated it, but now since the refurb the bar is tiny, and very bland in comparison, with only bar stools to sit on, it wasn’t a place you wanted to stay and relax. Ironically for me, this was a bar where they do not allow smoking Which brings me to the smell of nicotine drafting around the public areas. They should have dedicated smoking areas, the smell really is awful. One occasion at the Majorelle bar we had to sit outside to have our drinks on a chilly evening just to escape the fog. Where I come from it is the smokers who are forced to go outside in the cold! Despite the negatives, I did enjoy my stay, the hotel is undoubtedly beautiful, and the vast majority of staff are wonderful. I just would think twice about staying there again on my next trip to Marrakech. I have rated this as very good, despite my criticisms, as I could not possibly label this place average. If I were to give it a rating myself it would be ‘room for improvement’.

La Mamounia should not allow smoking indoors. Secondhand smoke is a health hazard to guests, hotel staff, and visitors. It’s bad during the day, and in the evening it’s very bad. Secondhand smoke is harmful for several reasons: Health Risks: Breathing in secondhand smoke exposes non-smokers to many of the same harmful chemicals that smokers inhale, increasing the risk of various health problems such as respiratory infections, asthma attacks, and lung cancer. Cardiovascular Effects: Secondhand smoke can cause heart disease and stroke in non-smokers by damaging blood vessels and making blood more likely to clot. Children's Health: Children exposed to secondhand smoke are at higher risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), ear infections, asthma, and other respiratory problems. Pregnancy Complications: Pregnant women exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely to experience complications such as low birth weight, premature birth, and stillbirth. Environmental Impact: Secondhand smoke contributes to air pollution indoors and outdoors, affecting not only individuals but also the environment.

I stayed a few nights in this beautiful hotel last April while on an Around the World group trip (solo). This was our last stop before returning to Ft. Lauderdale after about 23 days of adventure. It was nice to wrap up such a trip in this luxurious hotel. Often considered one of the most luxurious in the world - I can see why. It's like a palace. The lobby has multiple rooms and areas for lounging and enjoying yourself. There is high-end shopping and there is a beautiful gift shop. The food is excellent and the pool and grounds are immaculate, as expected. I stayed in a main building standard room and it was gorgeous. Rooms are lovely and filled with gorgeous furniture and lovely balconies and all the amenities you could ever need. Additionally, the bathroom and tub are stunning. Breakfast is wonderful with fresh pastries and warm food to order and excellent service. Location-wise this was walkable to a few notable landmarks and there is plenty of security outside.
