- +Staff. Missing so much the sweetness from Hind and the help from Abdul. The other girl who works with them she helped me to print my flight tickets. Staff is really lovely and ready to make you live a wonderful experience. +Very safe place. +Building. Amazing views from the terrace. They have got a lift it was very helpful for my parents. +Location. I had very hard search to get the perfect hotel. Location, price and services are the best in the area without doubt. Many cash points around and even a exchange bureau downstairs. Best location to Jmaa el Fna in less than 2 minutes (you can see the square from terrace). +Rooms. Very nice and clean. Every day they changed towels and make beds. I don't recommend the rooms with views to the street but you must ask for rooms inside are quiet. +Breakfast. You can have breakfast downstairs in a Café next to the hotel. Staff there is cool. The breakfast is not bad to be incluyed. Many tourists come to this place before to go to Medina. +Tours. The hotel organized our private tours for a really good price.…
Does what it says on the tin! Basic but comfortable and clean. I stopped over for two new nights after trekking Toubkal, choosing Hotel Ali because it was central and cheap enough. Central it certainly is....just a few metres off the main square and within a two minute walk of the souks. Ideal for exploring the city on a short stop. I was given the option of an interior room on check in from r a few Euro more but kept my triple directly over the street. I always carry earplugs so it wasn't a problem at all for me but if you're a particularly light sleeper then opt for the inside facing. Breakfast is at the Café Ali, right below my room on the front and I've no complaints. Fresh cheese omelette each day with a mint tea. I found the cafe front a great spot to watch the world go by when I got back to base. Staff were very helpful all round. Would I stay again? Yes. I've given the review four spots. Not because we're talking about four spit facilities but because Hotel Ali delivered as expected. It's not salubrious. It's basic, clean and did the job. If you're looking for an economy stop over with no frills in a perfect location for the city then this will deliver.…
I’d hoped to climb Morocco’s tallest mountain, Mount Toubkal. The receptionist at my hostel said Hotel Ali offered 2 day excursions to the summit of Toubkal for 150 euros. I went to Hotel Ali and enquired. After multiple checking with the receptionist who phoned the excursion guide, I was assured that my 150 euros would include: all transport, one night’s accommodation, all meals and the mountain guide to take me to the summit. I was to join a group doing the mountain the next day. I paid and the next morning was picked up by the bus and guide Hussein. Upon arriving in Imlil, Hussein dropped me off at the guesthouse, saying I would meet my guide later that evening. The guides hanging around the guesthouse also said I would meet my guide later that evening, they also said there was actually no group and I would do the mountain on my own. Later, a guide handed me a phone, with my guide on the other end. He said I had only paid for 2 days on the mountain, and that the Toubkal was only possible in 3 days, so I would have to pay an additional 50 euros for the extra day. I told him I had paid to do Toubkal and return to Marrakech in 2 days which he rejected. I felt these ‘guides’ were being dishonest and I was best off returning to Marrakech and asking for my money back at the Hotel. I told the guides I wanted to return to Marrakech instead of doing Toubkal. They seemed angry and told me that there was no transport for me back to Marrakech. I explained that even if I hadn’t paid to summit Toubkal like they said, I had still definitely paid for my transport back to Marrakech. They insisted my 150 euros was only for transport one-way and one night’s accommodation: to get back to Marrakech I would have to give them 30 euros for a taxi. I insisted I be taken back with the group visiting the village the next day and eventually they agreed. At 10pm, there was a knock at my door. It was dark and on my door step were four guides. They said they had talked to “Hassan” who had offered to pay their mountain guide fee for me, so I only needed to pay for my taxi back to do Toubkal the next day to do it (in 2 days). This means my 150 euros supposedly hadn’t even included the cost of the mountain guide; I assume this cost would have been forced on me after having done the mountain. I said no. The head guide asked me three times if I would do Toubkal, each time I said ‘No, I want to go back to Marrakesh’. After the third time, he just stared at me in silence for a tense period of time. Eventually he spoke saying that it was fine and they left. I barricaded the door to my room that night. In the morning, the guesthouse owner told me Hussein would come to collect me at 12 midday. After 12 passed, when I asked the guest house owner when Hussein might arrive, he said soon. Around 1:30pm a huge thunderstorm began and at 2:30pm I asked the guesthouse owner about Hussein again, he said not to worry about it. At 3pm the guesthouse owner banged at my door, saying to leave immediately. I rushed out to find Hussein’s little sister. The child’s eyes were bloodshot from crying. I was told to follow the girl to Hussein. The thunderstorm was in full force, and the paths we had to walk down were now all small rivers. After leading me to the road at the bottom of the mountain, Hussein waiting outside the bus angrily accused me “Where were you? I was looking for you all morning!”. I said I had been waiting for him where he had left me; he interrupted “Do you want me to leave you here? Because I will leave you here”. I had to apologise and he agreed to let me onto the nearly full bus. The conversation outside the bus was clearly a threat that if I said anything in front of his new group, he would leave me stranded. I held my silence. Once in Marrakech, exhausted, I ordered the first flight home. I was told after that I should have gone to the police with the story. I regret not doing so; this is the best that I can do to warn others from booking through this Hotel.…
I love this hotel. All the staff there are like family to me. The staff are honest and helpful. The hotel is very clean and perfectly located. The cafe next door serves amazing food and again the staff are absolutely perfect.
Stayed at Hotel Ali for 2 nights with my partner. Really enjoyed our time there. It is in a great location right beside the big market square. The rooms were clean and provided WiFi. They also have a currency exchange and cafe on their premises which is really convenient! We also felt very safe in Hotel Ali during our stay.
