The staff were perfect, from arranging transfer from the airport until we left 3 days later completely relaxed and rested, nothing was too much trouble for them. They went out of their way to book us into the hamam on our last day and accommodated a later checkout for us.

We stayed in a suite entered off the very pretty central courtyard with it’s tranquil pool and Alhambra style decoration. The rooms are minimally decorated with plain, textured plaster walls and simple traditional furniture. Soft drinks from the discreet minibar are complementary as is coffee from the Nespresso machine and the wifi which worked fairly well. The air-con (again discreetly hidden in the walk-in wardrobe) was effective. There was a TV and radio/speaker too (although we didn’t use these) along with a generous supply of books in the cupboard.

Our private garden was wonderful, although the pool could have been a bit warmer for the time of year. The main pool was definitely a more welcoming temperature.

The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped, well maintained and peaceful, the quietness punctuated only by the chatter of birdsong. A couple of resident cats also make the odd appearance.

The restaurant serves good unpretentious fare with a choice of local or French style dishes for each course and much of it from the hotel’s own garden, but the menu is the same everyday, so on a longer trip we would want to try the dining experiences elsewhere in the city too. The Moroccan wines we were recommended were a welcome discovery and the bar staff make a mean cocktail.

On this trip (our first) we just wanted somewhere quiet to relax and re-charge (which we certainly achieved) and we are already planning our return, hopefully for a couple more nights next time and maybe a few nights somewhere in the city too, to experience the more familiar busy side of Marrakech.

Stayed for 5 nights. This is an 15 suite residence where everyone made us completely and utterly welcome and wanted. A wonderful peaceful retreat. Nothing was too much problem and everyone was amazingly friendly and helpful. I wanted some threading which was immediately organised even though not offered as a service. The food was fab and they entertained all requests including mine for a Berber omelette made exquisitely. The pool and gardens were amazing. The location is not for everyone as it’s about 25 minutes from the heart of Marrakesh and taxis are not cheap but after a few days in the bustle of the medina it was lovely to just chill out. There are some inconveniences which may not suit everyone - WiFi is intermittent and slow. The gym is not really a gym at all and they could certainly do with bettering that but we loved our stay there.

Such a beautiful hotel. Better description should be a palace, as its inspiration was Alhambra Palace in Grenada, Spain.
Exceptional service, wonderfully friendly and genuine staff. Incredible pool, and very impressive vegetable garden.
We came from the UK for 4 nights.
3 hour easy flight.
Incredibly easy to get through airport and hotel had arranged to pick us up. Easy transition to hotel.
Small number of rooms means it is incredibly intimate and private.
Highly recommend.

In my opinion grossly overpriced, location was not good seemingly in the middle of nowhere with about 25 min drive from the centre of town at a cost of 30 Euros each way. I'm not sure what criteria was used to gain entry of the hotel to Small Luxury Hotel of the World. Certainly we were expecting much better having stayed in 3 other hotels during our few days in Marrakesh (Jardins de la Koutoubia, Mamounia and Maison Arabe) all of which offered good value for the price. Virtually no signal for Wifi. The gym if you could call it that was a joke and I can only think they needed to have a gym to tick the box for the hotel ranking. The pool looked dirty. We had a suite which reminded me of my student days. I cannot say anything positive about this hotel and was very disappointed.

I’d give this hotel 6 stars if I could.

We truly loved our stay: the location, the architecture, the incredible suite with our own private terrace, the beautiful pool area, the spa, the traditional Moroccan breakfast by the pool, the candlelit dinners, and the warmth of every single staff member.

Fig, olive and citrus trees fill the air with fragrance while you cool down in the pool from the scorching heat of the day.

Waking up for sunrise was magical - surrounded by palm trees and the soundtrack of singing birds while the sun was rising above the nearby Atlas Mountains, you feel miles and miles away from the mayhem of Marrakech.

Add this stunning Moorish palace to your bucket list!

Beautifully decorated, stunning ambience and the best staff to meet your every need. A lovely and warm team that really made our stay very special, so a massive thank you to the wonderful General Manager Kevin who looked after us so wonderfully. They truly make their customer’s needs their priority.

What an absolute gem of a hotel, the perfect place to switch off and recharge. Thank you thank you thank you for making us feel like queens!

We traveled over two weeks, in Portugal and Morocco - Lisbon, Casablanca, Fes, Marrakech - and nothing compares with this hotel. We were here four nights. We happened to mention that we were celebrating our 40th anniversary. Next thing we know, we are moved to a suite; then flowers; then we find that they have reserved the bar/library as a dining room for two. We dine on lobster raviolis, and a grilled turbot, the like of which we have rarely seen. The chef is God’s gift to the gastric juices. And the rest of the staff? To run a great hotel is a simple thing: anticipate your guests needs, and fill them before you are asked. They get it here. Come to Marrakech and don’t book here? You’re making a big mistake.

A perfect stay. This small palace-like hotel, set within idyllic gardens and a stones throw from the medina is the perfect environment to come back to after the bustling casbah. The staff are expert at creating an intimate feel, a home from home. This is clearly a team effort where everyone takes pride and pleasure in making their guests feel special. A lovely, warm and professional team, running a beautiful hotel. Can’t wait to go back!

Incredible service and amazing little hotel.
The room (a suite with a garden with private swimming pool), is spacious and very clean.
The Spa is also at the level required for a hotel like this.
The restaurant ( a la carte) has a 5 star level, with a personalized service offered by all the staff.

The location is idyllic for rest, with a design inspired by the Alhambra, masterfully executed in spectacular villas and an exceptional team. Both the director and the front office team deserve special mention for their tireless dedication to the well-being of every client. We also highlight the experience in the spa, where the special massage for golfers proved to be highly recommendable. Without a doubt, we plan to return sooner rather than later.

Where to start.... from the moment we arrived until we left 5 days later... it was magical. The food is amazing but the hospitality is incredible, from Kevin the wonderful manager to Youssef the Maitre de Maison and all the staff. They say "home from home" but exceeded that ....but my children came home and said they missed it. I cannot think of the superlatives to cover it but it really was magical and the staff made it even more special, the hospitality was amazing, nothing was too much but done in a great way. As to the chef, the food was wonderful, tasty with a flair and creativity. Never has the humble lettuce tasted so good, but it was only grown a few meters away, all ingredients sourced within a few miles and exceptional quality. The rooms are magical and if you do not fall in lot with the architecture and little touches t hen this is not the place for you!

What are the taxi options from Ksar Char-Bagh? Hotel quotes 300 MAD per way which seems bit costly to me.
London, United Kingdom308 contributions444 helpful votes
Search by taxi companies in Marrakech, and get a quote from the centre of M to Ksar/vice versa and compare. it is a 5-star luxury hotel so their price would be higher no matter what. :)

Why would you not chose a bedroom on the ground floor ?

I think both have their own merits. On the ground floor you have a garden to the rear which is also nice.
