We will never forget our wonderful 3 night stay in the Riad Dar Sbihi. It was our first visit to Marrakech, so its location in the old medina, was the perfect place to explore this vibrant city. Sibylle was away, leaving us in the very capable hands of her staff who made us feel really welcome and comfortable. Each evening we dined in. This hadn’t been our original plan, but we didn’t want to miss a night - the food was wonderful, and our vegetarian diet was not a problem. Prior to our arrival I had arranged, via Sibylle, a walking tour of the souks with Rashid, an English speaking guide. His local insights, tips and assistance with finding the items on our shopping list was so helpful. Thank you all for making our stay perfect, your trip advisor reputation is richly deserved.

Thank you so much for this lovely review, sorry I couldn't be there to meet both of you in person but I know I left you in good hands. My staff looked after you and took care about you, they have a lot of experience and I guess they probably also have a good boss! Thank you once again, Sibylle

Considerate service provided by owner and staff. Delicious Morrocan dinners served on mosaic tableware. Ambience beautiful too.
Riad's within the Medina of Marrakesh. Once you enter the door of Riad, you straight feel the calmness of the Riad. All the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh are forgotten.
Also you can't really compare a traditional building with modern hotels with parking facilities etc. So definitely should not be a 1 star place

My dear Londoners, thank you so much for your most kind comments ! I hope you had also a nice time resting on the beach in Agadir after your Marrakesh adventures ! I've contacted Google again to ask to change the label of '1 star hotel' into '1st Category Guest House' since that's what we are in reality. Maybe they read your message too and hopefully they will make this change since this 1 star doesn't do us any right. Kind regards from Marrakesh, Sibylle

The riad is a gorgeous building set in an unassuming street just north of popular tourist attractions; 15-20 minutes walk or 5 minute taxi. It is a much needed peaceful escape from the liveliness of Marrakech's rabbit-warren streets and inviting shop owners. The bedrooms are lovely and the decor throughout is traditional and beautiful.
By far the best experience you can have here is breakfast on the roof terrace. Watch the gorgeous sun rise over the atlas mountains as you are personally served a delicious Moroccan breakfast with coffee and tea. The service is personal, full of care and like an intricate dance.
The staff are the most welcoming people you will meet and Sybille, the owner, speaks a variety of languages fluently, making people from all over the world feel at home instantly.

We highly recommend the Riad Dar Sbihi. My wife and I spent a wonderful week there at the end of April'24. The owner, Sibylie, who is multilingual, is an excellent host who greets you when you arrive and every morning at breakfast, on the roof top terrace. She is a mine of information on places to visit and things to do. We ate in the Riad every night as the food was just so good. Every morning we would discuss with her what was best that day. Fish or meat. That evening the cook, Latifa, would prepare a Moroccan delight for us. The decor of the entire Riad is traditional Moroccan and the bedrooms are air-conditioned, clean, serviced every day and have luxury shower products. The inner garden is an oasis of coolness and calm and alive with bird song.
I recommend this bijoux Moroccan hotel most highly and would to go back there.

We absolutely loved staying at Riad dar Sbihi. The rooms, decor, service and ambiance were all brilliant. It was a little oasis of calm away from the busy streets outside, especially the rooftop terrace which was so relaxing and beautiful. Sybille was a great host and very graciously organised an early breakfast for us on a day we had an early trip booked, and also organised a personal taxi driver for us for one of the other days. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We have just returned from a very pampered week in Riad dar Shibi.
The owner Sibylle goes above and beyond to ensure her guests comfort and enjoyment. We ate out only once as the food at the Riad was so good!!
Sibylle works with a wonderful group of staff who make everyone welcome, creating a family type atmosphere whilst keeping the hotel spotless.
We can't recommend this place enough if you wish to stay in an excellent location right by the Medina, and very close to the souk. An oasis of peace and tranquility in a bustling city.
Thank you to all.

Hidden in the streets of Marrakech this is a beautiful place to stay. We stopped over Christmas and it was the perfect base to explore the city. The owner Sibylle was very helpful and pleasent. During the day getting lost around the streets was fine but at night we just wanted to chill and our host made us some lovely evening meals set in a lovely atmospheric room. The Riad has a lovely roof terrace to relax on and the breakfast in the morning was delightful.

This wonderful Riad in the Medina served us well for 5 nights. Lovely courtyard, expansive roof terrace and comfortable sitting areas. Rooms were comfortable and bathrooms spacious. Breakfasts on the roof were lovely and the one evening meal we had was excellent. The staff and owner were delightful and couldn’t have been more helpful.
Go for one of the rooms around the courtyard rather than by the pool.
We took the driver recommended for a day and headed for the High Atlas which was a great day out.
Riad about 15/20 minutes walk from the main square whichever of the numerous routes you take. Easy access to road used by taxis.

Dear Bill, what can I say now? I can't say anything else than a big 'thank you' for your lovely review. I've the impression like I'answering you from on an other planet by all the recent events happening all over the world and are affecting our lives deeply. What was so natural and normal looks like pure luxury for the moment, we hope we get through this crisis soon and in good health. All the best for you and wishing the same to all our guests, I learned these last few days to be happy with what I have so we will appreciate our 'normal' lives even more!

I came to Riad Dar Sbihi based on the reviews on this site so I thought it only fair to post my own. I do not normally like negativity but I have to say the visit was very disappointing. If you book Sibylle's (very overpriced) suppers and her (exceptionally overpriced) tours and hamman, you'll be fine but start saying no and the passive aggression you'll be met with is grating. We were challenged when we said we were going out to dinner with the comment, "You're brave". I found this extremely offence to her adopted country folk and to us, trying to scare us into staying in is unacceptable. Marrakech might be many things but not once did we feel unsafe. There were so many examples I could go on. In short, this Riad does not reflect the abundance of Morocco's warm hospitality that we felt elsewhere. It is also far from the main square. Book one closer, use AIR BNB tours (we took 2 and both were excellent) and use a hamman in town would be my advice.

Oh Mrs Jane, what I can I say now, there is another one disappointed also sitting at this side of the screen...Meals are freshly prepared, tours are private, I even prepared you an early breakfast for one of your tours. No one has to feel obliged to anything, as long as guests are happy. Myself being also Moroccan and Muslim, I got this expression of 'being brave' from our guests: 'we are going to be brave' to venture out into the hustle and bustle of the medina with the little streets, the traffic, the mopeds, the donkeys, the carriages, the vendors... Sincere regrets if communication went wrong, Sibylle

Sybille warmly welcomed us to her riad, and gave us a tour, allowing us to choose our room. Her friendly, helpful and courteous staff served us with delicious and sumptuous breakfasts and a few lunches on the sunlit roof terrace, and several evening meals in the riad's dining room. Sybille is the most charming, friendly, knowledgable and accommodating host, and we felt we were valued guests. Highly recommended.

We understand that it is best to take British currency rather than Euros. Does the hotel exchange them for Dirhams?

Hello Mrs Linda, well I see that other guests have already been so kind to answer you, thanks to all of you! Yes, you can bring £ or €, for us it's all the same since we can exchange currencies at the rate of the day, we are delegated by the bank. Kind regards, Sibylle

Hello, my hammam and excursion lovers! I didn't know that you could ask questions here on T.A. until today! And then you are all chatting about us... Well, no the hammam doesn't have to be booked in advance, time enough once you are here, if I know it 2 hours in advance that will be enough. And yes, you can book tours with us, also once you are here, time enough to sort out all the things you are interested in. For those travelling by T.O, the rep will also visit you and see what you need. Kind regards from Marrakech to all of you!
