Riad O2 is a wonderful place to stay. The team is so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are exquisitely done in true Moroccan style, and cool despite the heat. The breakfast is delicious with the gurgling of the petal filled fountain and the chirping of the birds. We had an amazing full hammam experience with massage… and such good value! Their lovely driver really made our stay showing us all the best tourist spots as well as places where no tourists go… we got to see the real Morocco. Really this is the place to stay in Marrakech. Highly recommendable for groups of up to 10.

Arriving at Riad O2 involves negotiating your way through a maze of alleyways. It can be tricky the first few times but on arrival, you are rewarded by a warm welcome in a haven from the madness that is Marrakech.
We stayed in 2 rooms - Chewing Gum & Oeuf, and both were minimilistically but stylishly decorated with fresh red roses present on arrival.
Breakfasts were pleasant - taken in the courtyard - and they do a truly delicious dinner, cooked by Rashida, on request.
The hostess Fatiha is friendly and obliging arranging anything from massages to restaurant reservations.
We travelled outside of Marrakech and on 2 occasions were able to leave excess luggage at the Riad and were greeted with friendliness and orange juice on the roof terrace on return.
A lovely experience which we would definitely recommend.

I stayed in this Riad for 3 nights on a week away with my mother. I asked for the Riad taxi to collect us from the airport and the driver was waiting when we arrived. I don't think he was their regular driver as he struggled to find the place, but we eventually located it behind what seemed like a random door down a dark alley! The Riad is located slightly North of the main tourist areas and I certainly felt we saw more of the local life than we would have else where. It took us a few attempts to get used to finding the Riad again first time!

On arrival we were greated with lovely mint tea and petit fors in the quiet courtyard. Our room was clean and modern in appearance with an en-suite bathroom/wet room. My only complaint would be that the toilet was located in a tiny cupboard and it was very difficult to sit down and have the door closed! I had also asked for 2 single beds, but these had not been separated from their other role as a king bed.

The Riad had a nice roof terrace where you could take breakfast in the morning (and I would assume dinner in the warmer months). The cook made us fantastic breakfasts every morning and on the one occasion we ate there in the evening, it was one of the best meals we had in Morroco. We generally found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We occasionally saw the management who kindly booked us tables for dinner at various eating establishments. Our French is not brilliant, so we did struggle with communication, but we got there in the end!

I would recommend this Riad as a bright and cheerful place to stay, which is good value for money.

I travelled to O2 Riad for a friends 50th party - it was amazing - a real 'culture' trip. walking through alley ways to markets - our first night my friend arranged a local group to entertain us while we ate - ( delicious food) this party went on long after we had finished eating. Amazing night. We spent 3 days doing the tourist trap- up the mountains, see some local traditions. amazing time had. UNTIL I went to bed. I woke the next day to see reb blood spots on sheets ( these were fresh sheets before I got in bed) I was a bit itchy and my back seemed to itch the most. Next night same thing happened and woke with more blood on sheets. The third night was worst of all - I felt something bite me so turned light on and there they were - bed bugs-I flicked them off the bed and slept again only to be woken in the morning with more blood on sheets and more bites. Since coming back the past 3 days have been hell- I went to GP last night who confirmed was infected bed bug bites - and has given me steroid tablets and cream, anti biotics, bath oil and cream. (29 so far in medical bills) If I could pay to take this itchy away I would - and I feel like I have the plague the way people look at me. I am a paramedic tutor I cannot go to work looking like this so - I commute and would get stared at and people were moving away from me on the bus yesterday. The room in question was the one with the old wooden frame (quite quirky i thought little did i know hidden inside perilous bugs) I have added pics to show how bad it is. Apologise if anyone is squeamish.
Avoid the room with the large oval bath and old wooden bed frame this is where they live!! – I actually woek one night when felt one biting me and found 3 on the bed under me. awful
Mel

Overall we had a fab time. the staff we so helpful its saddens me to have to leave this report as we all had such an amazing time.
Sadly I will now only be going to 4*+ hotels and I know I will miss out on some future trips with my friends as I do not want to go through this hell again.

Kind regards Mel Jay

Hugues and I really feel sorry for Mel, who only let us know about the bugs problem 8 days after she went back home. We immediately took the bed out of the room to be treated. Only then we put the bed back in the room, and since then other guests have stayed in that room and were absolutely fine. Mel didn't mention that we offered to refund her medical expenses. Guests can stay in the Oeuf room, try the traditional wooden Touareg bed and the large egg-shaped bath. This room is actually our favorite one. Marie

Got off to a bad start when the taxi we booked through the hotel to meet us at the airport didn't show up. Although when we got a normal taxi we found that it was 2/3rds the price they were going to charge.

Initial impression was that Riad O2 was charming, although the plunge pool needed a bit of a clean - scum on the water - but it didn't seem to bother our children.

Closer inspection revealed it had been built 'on the cheap' with plug sockets hanging dangerously from the walls and peeling paint.

One day there was not enough water for all of us to shower - I missed out being fourth up. I complained but received nothing other than a shrug. That same day, while sitting on the roof terrace, without warning some workmen arrived and started digging it up. This spoiled the sunbathing afternoon planned. There was a water leak in the hotel and they tried to fix it.

Obviously they didn't fix it as at 7.30 the next morning we were woken by workmen in the riad, dismantling one of the rooms. No apology was offered. I went to see the owner who did offer to put us up in another riad as some other guests (closer to the noise) had complained and were going elsewhere. I asked how long the noise would be going on for. She said until 5pm that day. Since we planned to be out all day anyway, it didn't seem to matter, so I said we'd stay put. Mistake.

The next morning, at 7.30am, without warning the workmen started again. She hadn't bothered to tell us or apologise. So after an uncomfortable breakfast I took up her offer of alternative accommodation. She refused to refund my money for the 2 rooms we had booked and paid for in advance and insisted all she would do was put us in another riad. She wouldn't even arrange for our bags to be taken there. As it turned out, the alternative was much better, finished to a higher standard. It was brand new and had no name yet, so I can't plug it!

In summary, Riad O2 over-sells itself on it's website. It's finish is not as glossy as the imagery portrays, the water system is clearly dodgy (see other reports) and the owner is unhelpful and unpleasant. This is in TOTAL CONTRAST to everyone else we met in Marrakech, who were jolly, fun, helpful and warm. If you've read this far, DO go to Marrakech, it's fantastic but DON'T go to Riad O2.

I am suprised at the other reviews on this Riad, maybe they have picked their game up since we stayed there. We booked the Riad because it looked lovely on the internet and visually it was great. Realistically it wasn't very good, it was not cheap and defiantely overpriced for the service we received. We did not have any hot water for 3 days which was communicated to the management in pidgeon english. They told us that it would be fixed, it never was. Breakfast was not bad, but the room was never cleaned while we were they either, the first day we left wet towels on the floor to come back and find them still there. We soon learnt our lesson! Overall this hotel looks beautiful but lacks substance, this was particularly apparent that when we tried to ask for a discount as we did not have any hot water, they got extremely rude, and slammed the door behind us as we left! Great service!

5 nights in february in the Oeuf room, (marie makes the booking process a breeze and very informative) a luxury oasis in the midst of the hurlyburly that is marrakech. Very much as specified, you are welcomed in the tranquil courtyard, the rooms are comfortable and charming and utterly individual, and you can eat the rashidas legendary meals in the dining room by a log fire, your room or reclining like a Pasha on the fabulous roof terrace while the muezzin calls the faithful to prayer all around the medina. Be hungry - it's 3 substantial courses, and good moroccan wine is available; prices compare favourably with city restaurants.
Breakfast is a feast, again taken when or where you like, and you may relax on the roof or courtyard, where Hassan will have lit log fires against the cool of the evening, a courtesy extended to our room on request. The manager, Moad, speaks perfect English and dispenses excellent advice which is worth heeding; he could and would fix anything given notice. Do use the riad's facilities, the hammam is well worth the experience, and the plunge pool a delight - if you like your water warm, give moad 2-4 hours notice and it will be so. Do also avail of the driver service, we were collected by Abdul from the airport, taken on a trip to the atlas mountains visiting a berber market, house, oil producers, restaurant and guided trip to the waterfalls and delivered back safely with no fuss. He is a true gentleman and speaks some English - when it's time to go you can be dropped to the airport. Always on time, no haggling, and typical of the 02 the riad and services conspire to deliver a stress-free visit - the city itself is noisy, busy and ever stimulating, and you will treasure the haven you are staying in after a day in the souks or jmaa al fna. My advice? Brush up your french, sit back, enjoy and be soothed - hospitality is legendary and a duty in the Arab world - you'll find it alive and well at the riad 02.

I stayed in the o2 Riad after using trip advisor - there were so many to chose from in the end I picked this one at randomly. I stayed with my boyfriend in the Ouef room for 3 days each day there were blood spots on the sheets - we didnt know what was biting us but when I came home I went to my local walk in GP unit to be told they were classic Bed Bug bites they bite in a line ( as my bites proved) of 3 bites they then move on if they get disturbed. I itched for days afterwards and after a bath the heat seemd to make them itch worse. After reading other peoples reviewas I too feel I have to say something about this room. I would never return its dirty.and we were certainly NOT backpackers - and did NOT take bad bugs with us to this place the spa was not a spa it was a cupboard size laundry room with a smaller hot room behind it. forget white towels and lovely aromas. it was like being in a prison cell. awful place dont waste your money here. There are other beautiful Riads we have stayed in before..

1.) The Riad did not pick me up at the airport even though I had scheduled a driver and let the Riad know I was a single, female and a little worried about traveling alone. My flight came in at midnight and I was stranded. When the Riad was finally contacted (via a friendly woman at information at the airport) the driver kept telling me, "It's not our fault." Though it definitely was the Riad's fault, a mistake the owner admitted to me via email after I complained.
2.) The wireless internet was not working for the entirety of my six day stay. Whenever I asked about it, I was assured the internet would be working "in a few hours." It was never fixed.
3.) When my friends and family did not receive an email from me letting them know I was okay, they began to call the Riad asking for me. I didn't receive a majority of these messages.
4.) Though the Riad owner speaks fluent English, she lives in France. The rest of her staff speaks barely any English, though the owner maintains "they understand a lot."
5.) My requests to have the hot tub heated or smoke hookah or order beer were never communicated to the proper person and I was never able to enjoy the hot tub or smoke hookah or enjoy a cold beer.
6.) I could only get into the Riad by ringing the bell and waiting (sometimes 10 minutes, at night) in a dimly lit alley for a staff member to open the door. I was never given a key and one time a man followed me back to the Riad, where I spent a very scary few minutes waiting to be let in.
7.) After all the drama I thought I would treat myself to a Hamman and massage in the Riad's rooftop spa. Somehow it was translated that I only wanted a massage which I found disappointing but unable to translate. The masseuse told me it was too hot in the spa and instead put a towel down on the bed in my room! She cranked up the air conditioning and gave me an awful 23 minute rub-down, spending more time on my breasts than I thought was appropriate in a muslim country. At this point, I didn't even have it in me to complain.

Overall, the staff was kind and courteous, but unable to help me with major problems: i.e. the internet and airport shuttle, and minor ones too, i.e. heating up the jacuzzi. The rooftop garden is very pretty and the kitchen staff is incredibly sweet. After leaving the Riad, I wrote a letter of complaint to the owner, who didn't compensate me for any of her mistakes, and then she wanted to know if I found the bed comfortable. I found the whole thing unacceptable, unsafe, and overpriced. I spent the last few days at the Parker Meridian and though it wasn't as "authentic" I was able to at last smoke a hookah, feel safe, and email my family for about the same price as Riad o2.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at our Riad. As you can see from our Trip Advisor's guests reviews, it is most unusual. I can ensure you that our team is fully dedicated to our customer's comfort and well-being As regards to specifics and as we mentioned in our correspondence , we could not fix the Wifi as it was a Maroc Telecom issue for a week throughout the whole Sidi ben Slimane quarter. Our manager, Moad, speaks very good English indeed and all our guests can enjoy our hot jacuzzi pool, our hammam, massages and drinks. Moad passed on many e-mails and phone messages to you, he walked with you to the square to show you the way, and also helped you to look for your missing phone by going back with you to the airport with our driver. We thought we had done our best explaining to you all these elements and apologizing, we are once again sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.

.

We felt that the owner could have been more helpful and did not provide any extra information on activities above a few basis maps and alternative accommodation when we realised that we could not stay an extra night.

Be aware that it is located quite a distance from the Djemas el Fna ( the main square ) and is very difficult to find, particularly late at night and you will be approached by childeren offering to guide you, for a price and they are not that easily put off.
Taxis will take you to a parking area near the riad, but from there you will have to run the gauntlet.

Overall we liked the room , inside the riad was tranquil and the
breakfast was good.

I think it is rather overpriced and would recommend getting a riad or even an hotel near the centre.
