During our stay there was six of us split into three rooms. This is a beautiful Riad in the heart of the Medina of Marrakech. A very good location for most tourist sites and to get a feel for the day-to-day life of the locals. The whole place is beautifully decorated and the terrace has one of the best views of Marrakech. Abdullah; the host during our stay was so very helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for him and his cooking was excellent. I would definitely recommend eating in at least once, as the quality of the food was excellent. It Would also be a good idea to arrange a taxi to the hotel before you arrive, as it may be slightly difficult to find. I would definitely recommend this Riad to others!

Just returned from a trip to Morocco with 6 of our closest friends. Our first night in Marrakech was spent at Dar Malak. Can't say enough about our host Eric and his staff. It was a great intro to Morocco as Eric was very helpful and knowledgeable about the customes and city of Marrakech. Clean, good beds, lovely breakfast, very quiet. thanks

This was a great place to stay. Very friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean with lots of historical flare. My only complaint was that it was labelled non smoking but there was smoking in the riad. Tracey

We have really struggled with finding clean, warm, reasonable priced, accurately described and family friendly accommodations in Morocco. Traveling as a family of four around the world for the year, we thought we were experienced at finding good places to stay but so many riads and hotels outright lie about heat, hamams, breakfast, toiletries and so forth. For our last 3 nights in Morocco we spend at Dar Malak and finally we had the experience where everything was above and beyond our expectations. We stayed in the suite and it was so spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and perfect in every way. Eric and all of the hosts went out of their way to make us feel so taken care of from the moment we arrived to helping arrange our 2:30am taxi to the airport. We loved being surprised and spoiled with tea and cookies in the afternoons and all of the extras during breakfast. Best of all we were warm and cozy and able to really relax and get good nights sleep. I have absolutely no complaints at all and recommend staying here highly.

We had a great 2 night stay at Riad Dar Malak. The rooms are quite spacious and the staff quite helpful. Breakfast is basic but fine. It is in walking distance to all the attractions in the centre of Marrakech.

The location is great, not far from the main square but yet tucked away from the busy streets. The staff is really nice, and although they mainly speak French and Arab they make an effort to communicate in English. Very good breakfast (but avoid the coffee if you are picky about it, i.e. Italians) and nicely decorated.

The hotel is pleasantly idyllic but an antiquated site. It has a traditional Moroccan feel, very stony. Not roomy and definitely not for privacy. It is difficult to locate but most of these type of hotels are in the Medina (they are actually old style houses converted into bedsit). It is an adventure to find it. We stayed for 7nights which is 5nigths too many too experience such an accommodation. Eric, the host, came across as a nice enough person, he is French and speaks English well, but I was very disappointed in his hospitality. For a seasoned hotelier you would think he would know how to look after his customers but I think not. We had couple of bad experiences. I think he was always out to make as much money out of us. He may be receiving commission on the excursions. He offered us a Hammam, the Blue Bay, but they were truly expensive. I would recommend the Rosa Bonheur, secondly and most disappointingly he arranged an excursion for 1 night Camel ride Sahara Trip; we paid £20 more than others in the group and the excursion was really a bad experience. Finally he offered evening meals, we took one night up, this was our partial mistake, we should have asked him the price but we believed his prices would be very competitive considering the locality we were staying at. The meal, Tangine, was admittedly delightful; Abdela, the Cook, Housemaid, repairman and everything else rolled in one is an absolute great cook and a very helpful person. Anyway the meal cost us £20 per head, the most expensive meal we had in Marrakesh during our seven night stay! By the way the Breakfast is very very basic; a cup of Coffee, scrambled eggs and breadrolls with plentiful jam and marmalade, though we got them to replace the jam with honey, peanut butter and olives! Good Luck!

We recently came got back from our trip in Marrakech where we had such a great stay at the Dar Malak. We went to Morocco to celebrate a double event and we had such a sublime welcome upon our arrival. I had communicated with the Dar beforehand to arrange us airport transfers and other optional services that they can provide to make our short trip become a memorable one. Upon arrival at place Laarouss, we were personally greeted by managing director/owner Eric. He helped us with our luggage and lead us to his wonderful Dar. We stayed in the Le Levant suite, a spacious room with a great Moroccan atmosphere. Eric provided us info on Marrakech right away, gave us useful tips on places to visit while enjoying a nice plate of Moroccan pastries and its famous thé à la menthe (mint tea). This personalized touch added a lot in making us feel welcome. After the long queue at the Menara airport immigration/customs, it was a good thing that I requested to organise a traditional Moroccan dinner at the roof deck terrace. The dinner was a 3 meal course of appetiser, main dish and dessert. The chicken tagine was carefully prepared by Abdillah, a very nice fellow who has been always ready to assist with our needs. The fresh salad was refreshing to start our meal and I ordered a Moroccan red wine to compliment our superb dinner. Our dessert was a generously served mixed fresh fruit cocktail in a cobbler. We enjoyed our first evening dining experience so much that I had to request another encore to Eric for our 3rd night after our excursion. For that dinner, we had fresh grilled sardines Morrocan style. These are the main highlights that I wish to share to all the visitors of Dar Malak. There is much more to say but I can definitely say that we made the right choice in booking this place because: The Dar is beautiful and very well located in the Medina. Taxi ride from Jamaa El Fna is reasonably affordable or a few minutes of walk away. Eric's recommendations on restaurants as well as the Hammam treatment are just fabulous. We were lucky to walk around with him too when we asked to visit an artisan shop. Great shopping awaits you in a huge private souk. We bought a pair of lanterns there and had the glass and framework customised and delivered within 2 days. Eric has an amazing staff, so friendly, happy and kind. A must do is to experience Abdillah’s cooking, which is enhanced with their simple and elegant setting. Credits to the beautiful tableaux of Eric’s paintings surrounding the whole Dar and inside the rooms, an artist's place will always amaze you. Fresh exotic flowers can also be found at the center of the courtyard. Surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful architecture of the Dar, Mounia serves you a fantastic breakfast at the loggia or terrace. Must try at Breakfast is the peanut butter like spread with argan oil, what a delight! This guesthouse is just a gem that will make you come back.
