Dar Fakir is a Riad de Charme located just 3 mins walk from Djema el Fnaa square. It reopened at the beginning of 2011 to visitors after a complete refurbishment. We differ from other riads in the sence that we offer an extensive service over other riads including not only the normal cooking courses but yoga, artisanal workshops and a very intimate service bordering onto concierge at very affordable rates. We provide extras such as meet and greet throughout your stay if required by our security guard during the evenings and at night. Mobile phones are provided to guests on request and are free of charge during their stay. We spend a lot of time with the guests making them feel welcome in the riad but also at home in the hectic maze of the Marrakech Medina. In total 5 languages are spoken in the riad - English, German, Swedish, French and the local Arabic, Darija. The rooms all have individually embroided bed linen made from Egyptian Cotton. The toiletries provided by Sence de Marrakech are Shower gel, Body lotion, shampoo and hand soap. For the Suite we can provide black soap and a gommage flannel. All rooms and Suites are decorated in elegant beige tadelakt on the walls as well as in the bathrooms. The floors have terracotta zellige. Rooms and Suites are furnished with traditional dark wood furniture in traditional berber style. The suites in addition have beautiful leather clad writing desks that tastefully match the decor. You will experience the ambience of arabian night in the evening when the handcrafted lamps and lanterns cast magical shadows on the walls.

Staying here out of season was amazing! The Riad is stunning and it was quiet. The staff were really helpful and suggested places we could visit. The road is really well located within the old town and we would definitely return and stay here again.

Stayed at Dar Fakir in November 2016. Blown away by how exotic it look. But finding the hotel thru the alleyways is mission impossible. Perhaps a big directional signage at the main access lane will certainly help. Both room which I stayed in require a more thorough cleaning, they are dusty and shower room with dried traces of soap. Almost slip when I step on it. But otherwise it was a very pleasant stay. The girl at the front was very nice.

We spent our holidays in this beautiful riad and it was so worthy! It was a little bit difficult to find at first, but we luckily ran into a Fakir Collection employee close to the main square who guided us through the narrow Medina streets. The riad was so peaceful and beautiful, with small but cosy and clean rooms, comfortable and big beds and soft linen. Rooms were dark and poorly iluminated in order to keep the rooms cool. The staff were so nice and kind, always looking after us from the manager to the cooks. The breakfast was amazing, with a wide range of moroccan dishes and fresh juice. The yogurt was memorable as well as the homemade jams. Common areas were nice and well appointed, great for gathering up with friends. 24 hrs. recepcionist was so much appreciated, since it allow us to explore the city until wee hours.

My last visit and review was glowing, so I couldn't wait to head back here... I didn't know I'd be so disappointed. Firstly the ground staff at the riad- cook, cleaners, duty manager, night guard are all wonderful. But their talents are wasted by a rude absent manager. I called main manager (who was absent the whole time) to complain and she was extremely rude and shouted at me on the phone when I was talking calmly to her. I've never experienced anything like this. Especially in a 'luxury' property. The pond in the riad was under maintenance and smelt badly of sewage throughout our stay, then was repaired (right outside our room). Our air con was broken and leaking. No products anymore, just one bar of tiny cheap 1 dirham soap for 3 days. Sadly not luxury anymore. No phones anymore, no-one to meet you at medina. Not worth the money staying here, go elsewhere for real luxury, it's gone way downhill. When I told her of my concerns i was shouted at and accused of being a friend of the ex manager, which is mental. Would like some of my money back tbh. Oh false advertising booking dot com- no products, no room service, no air con. AVOID.

We arrived at this stunning Riad and couldn't believe how beautiful and calm it was, with an excellent location. The staff on site were really friendly and tentative, and we headed out (in the extreme heat!) for a wander extremely excited and pleased with where we would be staying for a few nights. Unfortunately we noticed quickly on our return that the air con in our room was not working and that it would be impossible to sleep. There was also a broken light at one end of the room which they had mentioned would be fixed on our return however wasn't. Having shown the broken air con to the very helpful porter, we were told that contact with the manager would be made and we waited. Around 2am with no answers we forced the issue and suggested if they had another room that we should take it and we were allowed to move for rest of the night. The next morning we awoke and were told that there were no other rooms available but they would have it fixed through the day. We had a relaxing spa day booked elsewhere (it was also my birthday that day hence the short 3 day visit) and were assured that on our return it would all be sorted or we would be moved to another hotel otherwise and all would be taken care of and not to worry. On our return late in the day, we planned a brief sleep (after the late night prior due to the air con) before going out for a birthday meal only to find that the air con had not been fixed and no one was even aware of it. The promise of being moved to another hotel never materialised and we had no alternative but to book another hotel ourselves (we were worried that we would be stuck with no alternative the later it got and by their continued broken promises) and spent the rest of the evening carrying our bags to another place. It was unfortunately only a 3 day break, and the inconvenience certainly spoilt our plans and enjoyment of a wonderful city. On a positive note, the onsite staff were excellent and the room and setting were truly beautiful. It was a real shame as it promised so much, but the management didn't really seem to take the issue seriously and we felt almost expected to sleep in a room, that was impossible to sleep in (there was an extreme heat wave at the time of visiting).

We recently spent 4 nights at Dar Fakir and management couldn't have been nicer. It is more like staying in a small Bed & Breakfast than a hotel. We stayed in a room with a King Sized Bed and it was very comfortable. The location is very convenient, just about a 5 minute walk into the central square. My only complaints is that the lighting, while very interesting and beautiful, it not sufficient for reading and you must bring your own soap and shampoo.

My husband and I stayed in Dar Fakir for 4 nights in February and it was wonderful. Before arrival, Hannan was really helpful and organised our transport from the airport and greeted us with a pot of mint tea when we turn up! The rooms were beautifully decorated and we loved the Moroccan lighting! Each morning we had breakfast on the roof terrace with a view of the Atlas Mountains. The breakfast was the biggest I have ever encountered and very delicious! The location of the riad is perfect. It is close to the main square and the souks but tucked away and peaceful, providing the perfect contrast. The staff there were brilliant and helped us with everything. We would definitely recommend staying here!- thanks Dar Fakir

We had two nights at this Riad (the fourth we have tried in various trips to Marrakesh just to try new places). It compared well with the others. Comfortable, clean rooms with helpful staff and good breakfast. Very similar in standard to the others (all in same price range). Biggest plus - great location - close to the square. Biggest minus - staff and their frinds smoke a lot in the Riad. Not great if you are a non-smoker. Wi-fi really slow.

We stayed 3 nights at Dar Fakir with Kriselda, the manager of the riad. We were warmly received with the traditional Mint Tea and lovely moroccan cookies. We were taken to our suite called Ahlame. The decor is both traditional and modern, a fusion perfectly pulled off. The beds we comfortable and towels large and enveloping. The bathroom was a treat very well done. With little decorative items showing the care that went to into each room. We were given a tour of the riad and able to see other rooms and suites. Each has a special character. Kriselda has done a fine job with her staff and the riad. The Riad is clean and well maintained. Everyone working hard to ensure we felt welcomes and at home. We were recommended by Kriselda to go to their Restaurant in the new city called Le Palace. We had a amazing meal and excellent service. I was told that there were a few restaurants in their group. We did not have enough time to see them all. We dont normally do reviews, but Dar Fakir and the lovely staff deserved a mention. Will go back.

Love, love, love this riad! *STAFF -The staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. -Kristen the manager was awesome.. she helped us organize our day trips, gave pointers of what to do and explain how we can explore on foot and even gave us a free upgrade when our room had a problem. *RIAD -5 mins walk to jemaa el fan square and the souks -near great cafes and restaurants -bed is comfortable and the upgraded room was spacious -the riad itself makes you feel part of morocco with the intricate designs everywhere -breakfast was ok *NEGATIVES (to me there are no negatives but some people may not like these hence i've listed them down) -upon arriving wasn't sure where to find the riad as we did not book a pickup service hence very important to get the pick up service. -it is right at the end of the alley so walking back to the riad at night makes it abit eerie but i didn't mind as i love the stroll in the ally and see the cats playing -room is a little dim with the lights OVERALL -I will definitely come back to this riad...<3
