We had a lovely visit! The ryad is safe, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed two nights there. The location was great, and the rooms were quiet despite the close proximity to the square. We enjoyed sipping fresh juices by the pool and as a nightcap. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We felt very taken care of during our stay. They were helpful with questions. We also appreciated being picked up at the train station and taken directly to the front door. The breakfast is delicious! Loved the omelet station.

This is not really a 5 star hotel but more like a 3 star hotel. My rating is based on the fact that over 15 days this was our most expensive and most disappointing Riad. Excluding breakfast and extra charges like water from the mini fridge it cost us 500$ cad per day for a suite. It was impossible to get a fresh pressed juice at breakfast or the bar only powdered juice. The bread at dinner was old stale bread. The service was ok but not at all as good as other places we went. For booking Marrakesh by air they charged us an extra 200$ just to do the booking. The suite was far less impressive than the pictures and lacked attention to details. The pool was freezing. They do not serve alcohol nor any decent non-alcoholic beverage. Disappointing place. I would suggest looking elsewhere as there are so many better options in this area.

Went with a group the day after the earthquake. Did not see any damage with stay there. The business next to it wall had some cracks viewed at breakfast. The service here is great. Youssef the manager must train them well. I could not figure out the tv and he sent some one to help me figure it out. I would have good conversations at the front desk with Ibrahim. He was patient and kind with my questions. Place very clean and safe. There is a easy to use safe in the room. There is a person manning the door. I would come in late ring the doorbell and some would answer it. Comfortable bed and curtains around for nice atmosphere. Breakfast variety of options. A person will make your egg. They make nice cookies. Save for snack later. Restaurant(breakfast) area has a view of the Jemaa el Fna. Great location. Easy to get to if dropped off from cab. ATM convenient, restaurants and of course the souk and medina. Cab in am was right outside the door that took me to a museum. Cabs are allowed early am before the afternoon. In afternoon one has to walk out of the square to get a cab. If you need cabs easy walk out by the horse drawn carriages. There is a pool on the roof. It is really like a lap pool. Comfortable water and lounge chairs with umbrellas that the attendants will open for you. Towels supplied.I only wish they had maps for tourists. I went to another riad and got one. I go out and experience the area walking on my own. Also the keys take awhile to get the hang of and lock the door. I would not hesitate to stay again. However it is normally not a place I would stay because of price. This was with my group tour and lucky I could experience the great service and location as a tourist

My friends and I stayed at Art Place Riad for 3 days . We arrived the day after the earthquake, unfortunate timing but the Riad hadn’t sustained any damage and they felt it was safe. The staff although tired and a bit rattled (they had been up all night because of the earthquake) did an amazing job to make our stay exceptional. They were all very helpful and quick to attend to questions or concerns that we had. The location was perfect, right in the midst of all the shops, vendors and restaurants. We had first row seats for the nighttime action on the central square, Djemaa El Fna. My room was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and I felt like a princess in the curtained bed. The fountain and seating area outside my room was a great place to visit with friends and relax. My only complaint (and it’s minor) is that the antique key and lock were a bit hard to lock and unlock but I had it figured out by the time I left! The buffet breakfast was excellent and offered many different foods to choose from plus coffee, tea and juices.

With its traditional Morrocan style this is a gem of a place located on the edge of Jemma el Fna square in the Medina. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was outstanding with a mix of fresh fruit, cooked meats, homemade pastries, breads and biscuits with hot options often morrocan style or omelettes made to order and pancakes. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was equally as good. We stayed in a junior suite which was, like the rest of the place, beautifully decorated and very spacious. We used the pool and terrace most days and found that a lovely place to cool off and relax in the afternoons before heading back out in the evenings. Both the restaurant and the snack bar on the sun terrace have lovely views overlooking the square, especially on an evening when the square really comes to life. The team here are friendly and accommodating and make every effort to ensure you’re stay is what you wish it to be. We booked a tour of the Medina and Souks through the hotel, our guide ‘Kojack’ was very knowledgable and took us to places that you might not otherwise stumble across, we would definitely recommend this tour (we had planned but unfortunately arrived the day after the earthquake) In short this place is an oasis of calm and is so peaceful considering it’s location. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh and come back to to relax and unwind. It was everything we were hoping for and more.

What a wonderful place this is! Located on the main square it is superbly placed for everything Marrakech has to offer. We arrived the morning after the September earthquake not knowing what we might find however it was perfect. The people that work here are fantastic and made our stay certainly one to remember. There were some things in Marrakech we wanted to do but due to the circumstances we couldn't however the ryad management arranged for our tour of the Souks which was also a highlight of our time here. On our last night we had food in the hotel and very much like the breakfasts it was outstanding. We don't normally write reviews when we travel but on this occasion we both felt we had to! We will definitely be back to do the things we missed in Marrakech and there would only be one place to stay when we do!! Thankyou!!

As a first time visitor to Marrakesh, the Medina is a sensory overload, an explosion of colour, sounds, smells and a culture that is immediately upon you; and the heat in July simmers the senses. Located centrally on the main square, as if my magic the solid golden doors swing open to a smile and an attentive welcome. The are like a secret door to another world, cool, peaceful and adorned arts and the traditional artistic indulgence whereever you look. We were swept in to welcome lounge and presented traditional tea and Moroccan sweets whilst our details were gathered. Soon we were guided though this traditional Riad to our internal room. There are no windows but that is soon irrelevant because it is silent, air-conditioned and beautifully decorated. The hotel seemed quiet and the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle only yards away. Perfect location. There is no (NO!) alcohol served in this hotel, and whilst I like to respect the customs and cultures, you may feel differently, so you have been warned. So, from the moment I stepped through the intricately carved doors into the enchanting courtyard, I knew I was in for a memorable stay. The first thing that struck me was the impeccable design and attention to detail throughout the Riad. Every corner seemed to tell a story, with exquisite Moroccan tiles, ornate lanterns, and handcrafted furnishings that transported me to another world. The fusion of traditional Moroccan architecture and contemporary art elements created a unique and inspiring atmosphere that truly lived up to the name, "The Art Place." The rooms at The Art Place were nothing short of luxurious. My room was relatively compact, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The comfortable bed with plush linens ensured a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring the bustling streets of Marrakech. I particularly loved the private terrace in the dining area, that allowed me to enjoy the view of the city. The staff at The Art Place were exceptional. They were warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist with any request. Their knowledge of the local area and willingness to provide recommendations for restaurants, tours, and cultural experiences greatly enhanced my visit. One of the highlights of my stay was the Riad's exquisite dining experience. The breakfasts were a delicious blend of Moroccan and international cuisine, served in the picturesque terrace. I also had the pleasure of dining at the Riad's restaurant for dinner, where I savored traditional Moroccan dishes prepared with a modern twist. The flavors were sensational, and the presentation was a true work of art. We travelled Half Board, keen to avoid eating street food (warned not to do that), and it was a positive experience. The Art Place's central location in the heart of the Medina was another advantage. It allowed us to easily explore the vibrant markets, historic landmarks, and hidden gems of Marrakech. After a day of adventure, returning to the peaceful air-conditioned oasis of the Riad was a true pleasure. On the roof terrace, there is a fabulous pool and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing there. The service poolside is similarly attentive, and it was difficult to fault anything. Overall, my stay at The Art Place was a memorable and enriching experience. It's a place where art, culture, and hospitality converge to create a truly immersive Moroccan getaway. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable stay in Marrakech, I highly recommend The Art Place. It's a gem that will leave you with lasting memories of your time in this magical city. When visiting Marrakesh, it's essential to be mindful of a few key things to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience: Respect Local Customs: Marrakesh is a predominantly Muslim city with conservative customs. Dress modestly, particularly when visiting religious sites, and be respectful of local customs and traditions. Haggling in the Markets: Bargaining is a common practice in the souks (markets) of Marrakesh. Be prepared to negotiate prices when shopping for souvenirs, but do so with politeness and a sense of humor. Street Touts: You may encounter street vendors and touts who can be persistent. Politely decline their offers if you're not interested, and avoid engaging in long conversations if you're not genuinely interested in their products or services. Currency Exchange: Use official currency exchange offices or ATMs to withdraw local currency (Moroccan Dirhams). Be cautious of unofficial currency exchange services, as they may offer unfavorable rates or scams. Food and Water: Be cautious about street food vendors. While many offer delicious dishes, make sure the food is cooked thoroughly and served hot. Drink bottled water to avoid stomach issues. Beware of Scams: Be aware of common scams, such as false guides offering to show you around and then demanding high fees, or people posing as official helpers at tourist sites. Always use accredited tour guides and services. Traffic and Transportation: Be cautious when crossing the busy streets of Marrakesh. Use designated crosswalks and be alert when walking. Also, negotiate taxi fares in advance or insist on the use of meters to avoid overcharging. Privacy and Photography: Ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially locals, as some may not appreciate it. Respect privacy and cultural sensitivity. Alcohol and Public Behavior: Alcohol is available in Marrakesh but may not be as widely accepted or available as in some Western countries. Consume it in moderation and avoid public drunkenness, as it's generally frowned upon. Language: While many people in Marrakesh speak some English, it's helpful to know a few basic phrases in French or Moroccan Arabic (Darija) to facilitate communication and show respect for the local culture. By keeping these considerations in mind, you can have a more enjoyable and culturally sensitive experience while exploring the beautiful city of Marrakesh. The hotel staff will organise any tour, and we recommend you do this opposed to approaching or accepting a street vendor. Marrakesh is a city brimming with cultural richness and vibrant experiences. Here's a short list of some of the must-see highlights: Jamaa el Fna Square: Marrakesh's bustling main square is a sensory overload, filled with street performers, food vendors, and market stalls. It comes alive in the evenings and is a hub of local life. Koutoubia Mosque: The largest mosque in Marrakesh and an architectural masterpiece, the Koutoubia Mosque is known for its stunning minaret, which dominates the skyline. Bahia Palace: This 19th-century palace is a stunning example of Moroccan architecture, with its intricate tilework, lush gardens, and ornate courtyards. Saadian Tombs: These beautifully preserved tombs date back to the 16th century and were rediscovered in 1917. They offer a fascinating glimpse into Marrakesh's history. Majorelle Garden: Created by French painter Jacques Majorelle, this garden is a tranquil oasis of cobalt blue buildings, exotic plants, and the iconic Yves Saint Laurent memorial. Ben Youssef Madrasa: Explore the intricate architecture and tranquil courtyard of this former Islamic college, showcasing stunning geometric tilework and calligraphy. Medina Souks: Wander through the labyrinthine streets of the Medina to discover a world of artisan crafts, textiles, spices, and souvenirs. Don't forget to haggle! El Badi Palace: This ruined palace is a testament to Marrakesh's grand past. Explore its vast grounds and the remnants of its once opulent architecture. Atlas Mountains: If you have more time, venture outside the city to experience the stunning Atlas Mountains, where you can hike, visit Berber villages, and enjoy breathtaking scenery. Traditional Moroccan Cuisine: Savor the rich flavors of Moroccan cuisine in local restaurants. Don't miss out on dishes like tagine, couscous, and mint tea. These highlights offer just a glimpse of Marrakesh's charm and beauty. The city has much more to offer in terms of history, culture, and experiences that will make your visit truly memorable.

My friends and I stayed in the Art Place Ryad for two nights while in Marrakech. The location is right on the main market square, but amazingly the rooms are quiet and completely comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and served on a terrace overlooking the main market square, which was very interesting. All of the staff showed us the utmost hospitality. The entire Ryad is sparkling clean. The pool area is nice.

Art place is perfectly located in the centre of Marrakesh and is a real hidden gem. The traditional Ryad setting is beautiful and is immaculately kept by the staff - the entire hotel is spotless. From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. The food is also very good, we had dinner in the hotel one evening after a full day excursion and we were blown away by how good it was. The only negative on this hotel (and it’s not directly the hotels fault) is the animal cruelty you will witness daily. Almost directly outside the door you will witness monkeys on chains, being thrown into tiny boxes and sitting in the sun for 12 hours a day. As animal lovers we found this particularly hard to see daily basis - it’s hard to believe this is still allowed in 2023. That said, all things considered, this is a super hotel and we would definitely recommend!

We received a very warm welcome and we’re down around the hotel by the manager. All the staff are helpful and efficient. It is beautifully furnished. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped, some luxurious. The dining room is pleasant and breakfasts are excellent and varied. There is a terrace with pool and bar on the top of the building, which was very welcome. The location is excellent.
