Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is an excellent, charming, efficient hotel near the university area. It’s not in the medina but in a smart residential ‘hood. Good, personal, service, nice staff. I didn’t use the pool but it looked inviting and breakfast was very good. Would absolutely stay here again.

Riad Mazal is located in Gueliz, in walking distance of many shops and restaurants. It is a very colourful riad with a very well sought architecture and organized with lots of love. The pool was an amazing distraction for the kids, some days we hardly went out, but mostly hung at the pool. Each room has its own style and was clean and well organized. The staff is amazing and will make sure you spend a very good holiday. We recommend the place and would go back anytime. Thank you, Mostafa and team for your hospitality!

Riad Mazal is a beautiful, quaint Riad located in the Guilez neighborhood of Marakesh. It is a short walk from the central avenue of the upscale neighborhood. It is also conveniently located close to the Synagogue, which was important to us. We stayed in the Luna room which was a bit small, but beautifully decorated. The staff was attentive and helpful. Viktor, the owner, was on site and lovely to interact with.

We have just returned from a 5 day stay at this Riad and it was amazing! The Riad has a beautiful and traditional Moroccan feel with a secluded and very peaceful pool area. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Hammam spa experience they offer. All the staff are so warm and welcoming and make you feel at home! Already booked to return next year. AMAZING AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We travelled with a group of 16 and stayed here two nights. As with most of the Riads, the rooms vary in size and arrangements. One couple in the group complained about their small room. Our room was quite large on the second floor and looked out on the swimming pool. The room was very comfortable. The Riad was located in Gueliz and so was quite a distance from the medina and the main square. However it was within about 500 metres from a shopping strip with a number of restaurants and another 200 metres to the main centre of Gueliz and a large shopping mall. We did walk back from the medina once, which was about 2-3 kms along main roads. Breakfast was good. We had one meal in a local restaurant/café. The second evening we went to the “Fantasia” show. As indicated in another review, the meal was OK, but the show was terrible. It was quite expensive and a waste of money.

We stayed at Riad Mazal on our fourth visit to Marrakech. It was the first time we stayed outside the Medina. In terms of location it is slightly further out than Gueliz, about a 10 minute walk from there. It is in an underwhelming position, opposite some wasteland and backing onto a hospital. We have no complaints regarding our room, nor the breakfast, not the politeness of the staff but information was not forthcoming. We visited during Ramadan and the staff were unsure if we would find lunch in the Medina, or if a restaurant they recommended would be open during Ramadan. As it turned out, the restaurants in the Medina were all operational, the restaurants closer to the Riad, well it depended, many not opening until 8pm (post breaking of the fast) and some fully booked until 10:30pm ...so plan ahead for dinner bookings during Ramadan. The staff told us that we were close to the Jardin Majorelle, but lacked the information to say it opens at 8am and get there early as it gets busy. We tried to visit (at around 1pm), saw the queue and realised we didn't have time to queue and do it justice...another time. It takes 30 mins approximately to walk to the Medina from the Riad or 10 mins and 50 Dhm in a taxi. Beware that you might get ripped off getting a taxi back from the Medina, bargain hard or walk away...50 Dhrm is the price. There is a supermarket within a few minutes walk of the Riad. Stand on the front step and look left, there is a fork in the road, aim left and the supermarket is on the left, just a few minutes. Be aware that when you are given directions, left and right might be muddled up - haha, that's a top tip!

The minute you arrive you are made to feel like this is your home. The staff and owner are so kind and caring. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are a wonder. The pool is sumptuous when it's 40 degrees. The breakfasts are lovely and feel you up for a hard days bargaining at the souks or a trip to the mountains. If you decide to have lunch or an evening meal be prepared for the most delicious Moroccan cooked by a sensational cook. You will love this place, we highly recommend it.
