Hidden in one of the most historic areas of the Marrakesh Medina, Riad Mur Akush offers a magical experience (with road access in 30m). The relaxed and comfortable environment ensures a perfect stay and with 6 rooms the riad feels very private. With a large sitting and dining room, large patio and terraces, one is spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to have a meal or read a book. Our hospitality is legendary.

We stayed for four nights at this wonderful riad. The staff were simply amazing, they were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, quiet and well positioned for discovering the local area. The breakfasts were delicious and very relaxed in terms of where and when we could eat. We ate dinner at the riad for one of our evenings (needs to be booked the day before). The dinner was three courses and was delicious. We were the only guests dinning and it was a very special experience to have the riad to ourselves for the evening. We booked a day trip to the Atlas mountains, drive around 1.5 hours each way with a two hour trek before lunch. Great trip, we paid for a guide which I think was well worth it as he was able to navigate the trek for us and the lunch was provided at his family home in a lovely shaded area in the roof with rugs on the ground and multiple cushions to relaxing on. If taking this trip I would suggest wearing good walking foot wear, take water, a sun hat and sun cream if you wear it. The markets in Marrakech are bonkers busy but great to experience and within walking distance of the riad, as is the main square. Be careful of taxis fares as being overcharged appears to be common practice. The riad staff organised airport transport for us - both ways and I would advise this. I cannot recommend this riad and the staff enough, it was brilliant, a great find.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your stay here, the room, the breakfast and the food in general. We loved taking care of you and knowing that you have a good holiday here is very precious. Great advice about the Atlas hiking, thank you for mentioning this and yes, the markets here are a little crazy and most taxis do overcharge. We would love to hear from you again and do not hesitate to contact me directly for the most updated prices and special offers. Take care, Maria

We recently stayed at Riad Mur Akush for a few days and had the most beautiful authentic Moroccan experience, we were looked after excellently by Maria and her team from arranging our airport transfers, researching and arranging tours for us, making reservations for us.....no request was too great for the team at Riad Mur Akush...

I looked forward to the lavish breakfast every morning, we also had a traditional morrocan evening with tasty tagine's, food, dancing and music hosted by the team, which was wonderful and created some precious memories.

We spent early evening on the terrace admiring the Marrkech skyline with a cold bottle of wine or relaxed on the sun loungers of an afternoon....

Our room was super comfortable with a large bathroom and air conditioning, fresh towels, shampoo, shower gel (which smells divine) and cold bottled water whenever we needed it.

I think the most special thing about Riad Mur Akash is the people, the welcome we received was very special and the saying 'mi casa su casa' couldn't be more appropriate to describe the feeling we had during our stay. The Riad is also in the most perfect location within a short walk of the Medina and Old Souk, El Venn and lots of other wonderful spots with rooftop bars

We loved it so much that we plan to return in May!!

My husband and I stayed in The Douria. A separate property about a 10-minute walk from the main Riad Mur Akush. If you want a private space that is all your own this is the perfect place.

This property is serviced, so like the Riad the property is cleaned and breakfast is made for you every morning at a time that suits you. Noufissa is lovely and speaks both English and French.

The space is beautifully decorated with original wall decorations and Moroccan furniture. There are 2 bedrooms and bathrooms and more than enough space for a family or a small group of friends.

The roof terrace is the piece de resistance. With views over the rooftops of the Medina it's the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, a sundowner as the sun sets or just to soak up the sun and read a book on one of the comfortable sun loungers.

The Duria is down a quiet alley in the middle of the Medina offers you the best of both worlds.

I can't recommend it enough.

Thank you MocSi69 for reviewing our new property, the Douiria. I am so glad that you loved it and had a comfortable stay there, and I am so happy that Noufissa took good care of you during your stay. This property is indeed separate from the main riad and gives you independence and a really wonderful space. The terrace is my favourite place too! I hope you will return! Regards, Maria

We stayed in Riad Mur Akush for a few days end of April. The taxi dropped us off opposite a small street where roadworks were ongoing for quite some time. Mustapha was waiting for us with a small trailor and some help to transfer our luggage to the Riad. Straight away, we got a sense of his kindness and humor and knew that we were going to have a great stay.
Welcomed by Muhammad and Mustapha at the Riad with mint tea and biscuits, check in was quick and very friendly. Mur Akush is a typical Riad by its architecture. Our room was very comfortable. We had a fabulous breakfast on the rooftop under the morning sun. It was a pleasure to have conversations with Mustapha about his culture and we always had a great laugh with him. He is also a very good musician and plays a few tunes for the guests, dépaysement total!!,
It is possible to dine in the evening which we did on our last night. Mustapha's attention to detail was second to none, delicious meal and he set a very romantic table with rose petals, table cloth for us. It was a perfect way to end a lovely stay.
The service was impeccable and we were treated like family.
The Riad is very close to the center and the La Marjorelle too.
We have no hesitation in recommending Riad Mur Akush and especially Mustapha who was an excellent host in every way. We will be back! Pascal & Siobhan

On arrival we were told ‘this is your home’ and for the whole time we spent there, it’s exactly how we felt. It far exceeded any expectations we had although, we came with very open minds. The pricing was very reasonable so a clean room and an adequate breakfast would have
sufficed. Although our room wasn’t the largest of the 6 ( we will book that next time) and getting in and out of bed was a bit of a squeeze, there was a comfy seating area
and a great shower. Plus a small seating area outside our room. Being a bit taken aback on our first night there that the local restaurants didn’t serve wine, Mustapha bought
in several bottles of the local Safari (very good) wine so we had our own stash in the fridge. Breakfasts freshly prepared by the delightful Hassania and Zohra were a
fantastic start to our days. We enjoyed a delicious fish tagine one night, prepared by them and served by Mustapha, with rose petals on our table and him playing
his banjo and singing to us. I can still hear him referring to us as ‘lovely man & lovely woman’😂
Regarding the location it was extremely central and
walkable to most of the places we wanted to visit. Lovely roof terrace ( if I was being really picky I might suggest that some of the furniture there is upgraded). Lovely to
enjoy some sun sets and the calls to prayer. Mustapha always offered us tea/ coffee/ wine and would bring it up to us with cake and olives. He organised a great day trip
to the Atlas Mountains waterfalls which was really worth doing. Only negative of the whole week was a guide was arranged for us for a walking trip. We made it very clear to the guide that we were not interested in shopping but just wanted an overview of the history and culture and to see historic buildings/ architecture. Sadly he did the exact opposite. And we were completely ripped off in Herboristie Larksour. I doubt we were the first and I’m sure we won’t be the last!!
Mohammed and Yasseen (the other members of team Riad Mur Akush, who were less present than Mustapha, Hassania and Zohra, were also extremely pleasant and helpful.
We’ll be back. Shkran 😂

I stayed 2 nights at Riad Mur Akush during the month of May: courtesy and kindness are the watchwords of this riad.
We were immediately welcomed by the staff as if we were family.
We had a room on the ground floor, which looked directly onto the spectacular internal patio.
Large room with a single bed and a double bed and a huge bathroom, all in Moroccan style.
The hotel is spotless, both in the rooms and in the common areas.
Breakfast is prepared every morning based on fresh products and is served either in the main courtyard or on the terrace, we have always opted for the second option.
The terrace has an exceptional view, both of Bab Doukkala, the Medina and the Koutubiyya.
Riad not far from the center: Jemaa el Fnaa square is about a 10-minute walk away.
Absolutely recommended, we will definitely be back.
Thank you very much to all the staff.

Overall, our stay here was mostly pleasant. Nice rooftop that we asked to have our breakfast on (note: for some reason you need to specifically ask them to serve your breakfast on the terrace at a certain time and then follow up to remind them in the morning as they won’t start working on your breakfast until you go down and tell them to, even if you ask them in advance to do this). We had a very quiet room that they cleaned daily. I would have given this place a top rating if it weren’t for a specific staff member, Mustafa. He tried to charge us double for the room, even after I showed him on my phone that Booking.com specifically stated we had already paid. Even after he saw this on my phone, he insisted we pay and never admitted he was wrong.

Mustafa also made many inappropriate comments about my boyfriend (ie, calling him “guapo” every time he saw him, including walking up, touching his shoulder and whispering “guapo” in his ear). I’m not sure if this staff member Mustafa is gay or not, but either way, it made my boyfriend and I feel very uncomfortable.

Mustafa also gave us the wrong key to enter the hotel from the outside, so we were locked out when we returned at night. Super frustrating / annoying. Again, he never apologized for this.

Lastly, when we asked the hotel to help with booking a taxi from the airport (only ten minutes), they tried to charge us more than double all other taxi drivers charged us to go the same distance… really disappointing.

Hello. It was interesting to read your review on this and the other website and I am pleased to hear that you had a mostly pleasant stay with us, you liked the room, the breakfast etc. I would like to address some of the issues you have raised here, as I think that it is important for my business and my team to present some additional information to the people who are reading the reviews. We prepare breakfast fresh and on-demand. To ensure it reaches you in top condition, we also wait for our guests to notify us when they are ready to have it. The mix-up with the charge and your payment were caused by an error in your agent system (I believe they are getting this fixed). I confirm that you were not charged for the room twice. The wrong key was a mistake, I am apologizing profusely for this, and I assure you it was a genuine mistake. Mustapha is always in the house and he let you in as soon as you rang the bell. Finally, we offer a chauffeur service from the airport to the hotel. It is more expensive than the street taxi, as the service is completely different, the (fully vetted) driver is waiting for you at the airport, carries your bags, drives you to the riad in an air-conditioned vehicle, where you are met by one of my team who will take your bags and walk you to our door. We charge a standard rate for this, as every other riad is, and it is the price that the chauffeur company is charging us. We are very clear about the cost and we think it represents great value, and we allow our guests to choose between our service and the street taxi service. Finally, with regards to your comments about Mustapha and his friendship with your boyfriend, I was not sure how to approach this as I find your comments very disrespectful and insulting to Mustapha, but I do know that during your stay, they had become friends without any indication of anything else. Mustapha (as most Moroccan people) is a very genuine and warm individual and it seems that this was greatly misunderstood. It is our policy to be very transparent with our pricing and take pride in offering great value to our guests. We run a very honest and ethical business and treat our guests with respect, as we would like them to treat us. We are very proud of the exceptional service that we offer and my team (every single person who works here) goes above and beyond to ensure that our guests have a wonderful time. Ultimately, it looks like we did not manage to offer this to you during your stay and I regret that. Maria and the team

I stayed here with some girlfriends last week. The Riad is beautiful and each room is very individual containing luxurious bedding seating areas and incredible mosaic tiled bathrooms. Even down to the vanity makeup mirror each room was thought out and decorated with taste in a traditional style. The roof top terrace has a wonderful view of the old town and is perfect for early evening drinks or breakfast. The house staff treated us like old friends and it felt like home. Mustafa the House Manager was always there to help, even appearing when we got lost in the market. The lovely ladies in the Riad cooked us delicious traditional meals. It was close to the market and sights and they also arranged our tour guide and taxis. It was utterly perfect and I cant wait to go back. Thank you

We spent 3 nights in Riad Murakush in April, with my partner, and we completely recommend it!

The MUSTAPHA staff is charming, discreet but always present when we had questions. The riad itself is very pretty and well maintained, our room offered us all the necessary comfort (a large bed, a large bathroom, beauty products...) and the pretty roof terrace as well. Breakfast is taken besides up on the roof in the sun, it is quite correct (fresh juice, coffee / tea, Moroccan pancakes with honey jam etc

It isnot kept on premises but can easily be purchased by the staff and served to you and also you can bring in your own duty free as well. As well you can pop into any supermarket and purchase both wine and spirits. Morocco has a big wine industry and local wines are good and cheap too.
