After a break of 4 years due to family health problems we returned to Morocco , Marrakech and Riad Shaden spending a holiday back in what used to be our second home and realised how much we had missed it. As always we spent the first part of our stay in Morocco somewhere new and different which we thoroughly enjoyed then as always returned to Marrakech for a few days to do the shopping bit and spent what was our 10th stay at Riad Shaden While most Riads start out with high standards after a few years their standards tend to drop but at Shaden the owners policy of caring about their staff means low staff turnover which is reflected in an extremely experienced crew who deal with whatever we have thrown at them over the years from left behind passports to organising good quality outings . One experience we recommend to anyone staying at Shaden is to eat in at least once during your stay the girls traditional meals are amazing. We enjoyed our recent stay so much that when the world settles down again as it will we will be back. …
Truely exceptional Riad accommodation. Said, Mohammed and their wives were outstanding hosts, where nothing was too much trouble. The Riad Shaden is an oasis in the Medina and, we found, conveniently positioned. Super clean and very accommodating. Said’s guidance certainly made our visit to Marrakesh an authentic feel and he very willingly accommodated our sightseeing and dining requirements, even provided ground transport himself by arrangement. We can’t thank them enough for their kindness, sincerely Richard and Grett
From the moment Mohammed came to meet us we were looked after well. We went on a trip to the Atlas mountain with Said (probably more expensive than the other trips available) but it was well worth the extra to get our very own guide who we felt safe with. The breakfast was lovely too.
Mohamed and Said are very good hosts, friendly and informative. Morrocan breakfast great - especially the pancakes. The Riad is a little away from the main square but the walk through the alleyways mingles you with the locals which is interesting, and if you go the other direction to the Bab Aylen gate it only takes a few minutes to reach somewhere that you can get a taxi. The Riad itself has a nice central area, and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
Upon on arriving in marrakech for a 7 night holiday It was clear from the get go that the service and experience from the Riad Shaden was going to be above and beyond. We arranged to be met at the airport and were driven to the old city. Not being able to drive inside the walls of the old city we were met by Said and walked a short 5 minutes to our destination. At night the alley leading to Riad looked a little skepticism, but rest assured when you walk through that door you are in heaven. A beautiful, tranquil, quiet, safe little seclusion from the busy life of the streets outside. Our week there was beyond wonderful. Not only were we given all the information for the top destinations to visit but we were also handed a very easy to follow map to get us to the Médina, the main square and to the Souks. The walk to the square was one of our favourite experiences as you are in the heart of the old city with the bustling trade of food stalls, carts and little shops in the walls. And let me tell you we have never felt safer in a foreign land. It’s busy and bikes pass you 3 a second, but the people are lovely, only ever try to entice you into their shops, but never make you feel you are unsafe. Just never let them guide you somewhere unless you’re willing to pay! Other than that, you are in the heart of the culture and true spirit of Marrakech. The Riad itself has a wonderful roof top to lie in the sun or sit on comfy cushions and read late into the night. But what makes this Riad better than any other (and we’ve spoken to a quite a few travellers who stayed elsewhere) is the service from the staff. You are made to feel like family and that nothing is of any bother. The breakfasts and food were BEAUTIFUL and our hosts Said and Mohammed were without a doubt the best hotel runners of anywhere I’ve stayed. They became our friends. Their smiles brightened each day and they really went above and beyond with their help and generosity - especially helping us out after we made a big booking error. The Riad also provides tour services. Just book in one of the many marvellous day trips and Said is your host for the day driving you everywhere you need to go. These are extremely well priced and took all the pressure and strain away from booking external outings. We just woke up, got in the car and had a private driver for the day taking us to the most wonderful parts of Morocco. We spent three days out with him and they were the highlights of our holiday. The trip the Atlas Mountains and all the stops along the way is a MUST do experience. I fell in love with Marrakech and when I visit again there is only one place I could ever imagine staying and that’s with our new friends Said and Mohammed. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication. You are a credit to the Moroccan people. Best wishes, stay safe and happy, From Kyle & Rosie. ☺️ ❤️…
