Very charming and elegant riad, beautiful furniture, big and cozy rooms, better heated than most riads, fantastic food served in a romantic dining room with a fire place.

My friend and I just returned from a 11-day trip to Morocco. Our first night was here at Riad Palais Didi in Meknes. We were in the city to attend a cooking class at Savor Morocco and to visit Volubilis and Moulay Idriss. The riad offered great charm, exactly what we were looking for in our accommodations for the trip....

We stayed here for almost 2 weeks in September and we absolutely fell in love with this place. First the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful with traditional Moroccan architecture and tile designs. You walk into this place and feel like you have stepped back into time to experience Moroccan history, art and architecture. The location is absolutely perfect next to...

This is a Riad located where it belongs at the heart of the Meknes Medina in a unique neighborhood reminiscent of the 1001 nights. The rooms are astoundingly beautiful each with a different personality. The food was great and the service was decent. The location is also ideal to discover other attractions in the Medina and the Imperial city.

The palais Didi is a beautiful old palace, and the decor is right out of 1001 night. Also, it is located in a tranquil corner, yet within easy walking distance from the city center. The people working in the hotel are very helpful and service is reasonable. I am sure that in summer and spring it must be a delightful...

As indicated in other reviews they don't take credit cards--but they won't tell you that up front--their credit card machine isn't working when you check out. When you pay cash to leave most likely you'll get into a half hour conversation negotiating exchange rates (they like to start at about 65% of the normal exchange rates). This process includes a...

Lovely hotel, but we were surprised when it came time to pay, since Fodor's says they take credit cards, and they didn't warn us when we booked. So if you stay here, you need to plan in advance and make a few trips to the ATM to be ready. I would otherwise recommend the hotel, but it was a big...

My holiday in Morocco has left a lasting impression on me. Palais Didi, the place where we stayed in the old imperial city of Meknes, has a character and an ambience that exudes warmth and excitement. I loved every inch of it; from the quiet courtyard with its exquisite fountain, superbly plastered ceilings, elaborate wood carvings, original beamed bedrooms with...

We just stayed at Palais Didi for 4 nights - my wife and myself with our two daughters (7 and 9). It was such a pleasant experience for our girls - a real Moroccan palace in the beautiful historic part of Meknes! The hotel is very charming and peaceful even though it is just a few yards from the action...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Didi is a descendant of sultan Moulay Sulaiman and grandfather to the present owners. Didi had 4 wives, each of them had her own quarters on the ground floor of what is now referred to as Riad Palais Didi. Today Palais Didi is a real masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship. Restored in the purest Moroccan style, it is organized around a large patio and a nice fountain where you would eventually refresh during the long summer days. ... more   less
