Wonderfully restored riad in the Medina. Huge room, stylish design in the whole building, nice terrace with view over the main square, very good breakfast, kind staff. Close to lots of places to eat and drink. Short walk to the fruit and veggie market. The room had no

This riad is really beautiful and the room we had (suite) was big and clean. The bathroom was so particular and beautiful! Breakfast was good (bread, typical local bread and marmalade + coffee or tea and fresh squizzed orange juice) but could be improved with different products

We visited in July, when Meknes was sweltering in its usual daily 40°C. In retrospect, not a good time of year to stay in a traditional riad without air-conditioning. However, this one suffered more than most of the ones we stayed in on our trip. The rooms seemed a bit close

I stayed in this riad for one night and it felt weird being the only guest, especially since I was traveling alone. I had one of the rooms on the main level because I didn't want to ask the nice woman to carry my bag upstairs (and I wasn't feeling well enough to carry it

Like many Riads this is owned by a French person. It has been well restored and is charming inside. The manager is very nice and the staff efficient. We ate in one night and the food was very tasty. Best to enter from the square.

Hi Paul, Yes, it can get cold in January. Our riad is a traditional home which means you won't get the comfort of a hotel. We have either gas or electric heaters and the upgraded rooms have air conditioning but it will still feel like a traditional home. The kids won't be able to run around in sleeveless shirts. I think that if you warn them in advance that it will be a little like sleeping in a castle and that they will have to stay covered up, they should enjoy it. If you prefer to go for the comfort option, you should look into modern hotels in the city but avoid anything in the old medina. In my opinion it is better to get an authentic experience while in Morocco but I also understand when people are used to a certain level of comfort. Have a great trip, Lionel

"We stayed in the mezzanine room, not good if mobility issues."
"When you enter the main garden: Room on the right if it is just one room, and get the one directly ahead if you need a second room."
"Rooms in upper floors are a bit less affected by noise from inner yard. See review above for details and mitigation."
"Rooms on the main floor are lovely but somewhat dark; suites on the second floor are luxurious (and more expensive)."
"Downstairs rooms may be damper than those upstairs."
