We've been staying at Wista's since late 2011 or 2012. It's our go-to hotel in Dar es Salaam. Located at the end of a quiet street, it is within walking distance of Mlimani City Mall, offers free WiFi, good breakfast and comfortable, open air restaurant. The outside environment is very pleasant and well maintained; it's a garden in the middle of the city. Regular rooms are small, basic and clean, at reasonable prices. Larger rooms with small porches are available for a small premium. Staff is helpful, with laundry service, room service and assistance arranging taxis. They remember regular visitors!

Small room, but that was all that I asked for. Breakfast is provided, dinner costs extra if you want that. Very conveniently located for the University of Dar es Salaam. Nixon the manager is very helpful, and arranges or provides transport within the city and to / from the airport.

Spent there two nights .. Good hotel but very unfriendly staffs especially all the receptionist . And WiFi in the rooms was not working properly ..In general they need to improve their customer service..

Everybody is welcoming and friendly. We stayed here as family. Also with a small kid everyone was very patient and understanding. :) food is good and wifi works well both in the restaurant and in the rooms. Rooms are clean. This is a place I certainly can recommend.

Nice and clean rooms at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff and good food served. Very nice garden with alot of plants and some small animals (Rabbit, chicken etc.) Kidsfriendly! Owner is putting alot of effort into continously improvment. You wont find a better place in that price range in Dar!

Good clean room with workspace and wifi, tv and a/c. Close to Dar University and shopping mall Mlimani City. Easy to catch transport to town. Many young business people are guests on the way to and from. The best things with Wistas: budget, good, varied homecooked Tanzanian food and the best is the simple environment and all the plants! The staff is efficient and friendly.

It is refreshing to be in a beautiful garden when you visit Dar es Salaam. The rooms are very clean for a reasonable price. The breakfast is included in the price and it is good and plentiful. The restaurant is also very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Don't take room 301. It is next to the airco and it can be a bit noisy, but it is not the end of the world. The rooms in the back are more quiet.

A group of 8 graduate students accompanied my husband and me on a 3 week study tour (students took the course for credit) to Tanzania. While in Dar es Salaam, we stayed at Wistas Inn. A Tanzanian friend whom I trust recommended it to us. We loved the location and the fact that we were not staying in a big box hotel. We appreciated being able to walk to a western type mall to get our SIM cards and have access to an ATM. We also appreciated being close to the Mwenge Art Market and the University of Dar. Wistas is a laid-back place to stay with friendly and attentive Tanzanian hosts. It also has a restaurant which serves not bad Tanzanian standard fare. While there, we noticed a lot of westerners visiting. That being said, if you are looking for a western style hotel, this is not the place to stay. If you are looking for a place to relax and get to know Tanzanian culture, this is a good place to stay. A few things to note: o when you approach Wistas via car, you will wonder what sort of place you booked for accommodations. However, when you get inside the property, you will find it to be a comfortable place to be. o if you are disabled in any way, it might be tricky to navigate this place. The lighting is very low making it hard to see things. Just so you know, a lot of locations in Tanzania are this way. Also, the uneven pathways and lack of elevators might deter some who are wheelchair bound. o The wifi passwords were somewhat of a mystery to us as it seemed that they changed every day. The upper floors have weak access to wifi. o on a positive note, cleanliness is good. While our first impression of Wistas was one of concern, we grew to appreciate Wistas and thought of it as home for the week we stayed.…

Lovely place accessible by uber straight from the airport, with walking access to Milimani city making for a good transit stay location. Rooms are clean, good fixtures all round. AC, free Wi-Fi, backup generator and restful balcony per suite.

I have stayed here number of times, making this gem of a place my base when in Dar es Salaam. Rooms are spacious, service is great, staff extremely friendly. The restaurant is bit well kept secret of Wistas, all meals are amazing and made in house. Curries especially are very tasty. But definitely bring ear plugs, as it can be quite noisy over the weekend.
